Chapter 28: Guerilla Warfare

Forty minutes... Forty long minutes of running. Running from Simon Grey... Running from CyberHuman Eight Thirty Two. Running from death. Running for his life from the guy who was trying to end his life.

So far he was using guerilla hit and run tactics on the CyberHuman but he was only successful in half of his attempts. He'd manage to take Grey by surprise and knock him down during his successful attempts however, Grey would also knock him down and attempt to crush his exposed head in the unsuccessful attempts which Axle was barely able to escape from.

He was currently sitting down in one of the many tunnels in the underground caverns panting as he was out of breath and stamina. He was quickly losing hope of surviving due to his body starting to weaken from all the running and fighting that he had been doing.

"There's no use in hiding Ryder!!" He heard Eight Thirty Two. He froze on the spot, he wasn't ready to die yet. He still needed to avenge his family and he wouldn't allow Grey to deny him that right. "I can track your life signs!! Come on out and make it easy on yourself!!" Grey tried baiting him and it didn't work. Axle knew he had time to get away because it's for the same reason that half of his sneak attack attempts were successful. Grey was still getting used to his new body so it was clearly still lagging since his human brain isn't completely synced up his robotic body.

"Like hell I will!!" Axle yelled before getting up and running further down into the tunnel. As long as he was able to move, he wasn't planning on giving up, no matter how grim the situation was becoming.

Eight Thirty Two was simply moving, no, lagging at a slow pace... hoping that Axle would do something stupid and slip up. He even tried bluffing and baiting since his scanners were glitching. It seems Axle proved to be smarter than what he gave him credit for.

He knew Axle was down here but his body was making it difficult to find him. He rushed into becoming a CyberHuman and this was the price that he'd have to pay for ignoring Bernstein's warnings.

While Axle was running, he realised something... if Eight Thirty Two could find him using the scanners, why didn't he? No, it wasn't the fact that he didn't and the truth was so obvious... the problem with the CyberHuman was that he couldn't find Axle. It was as clear as day. It was so obvious and easy to see that even a blind man could read it.

That's why he keeps calling out... he's like a bat and he's shouting and calling out... he's using my responses to track where I am. I honestly didn't think he'd try echolocation. I have to give bastard some credit, that's actually an ingenious move. Too bad for him since I can see right through his strategy. Axle thought. "If that's the case then I'll just shut up." He whispered quietly to himself, not wanting his enemy to find him.

He was unfortunately pulled from his thoughts when he heard footsteps approaching him from behind. "Crap!" He squeaked before trying to run off to safety. Sadly for the gamer two arms held him in place while he tried breaking free. He knew it, he was done for. He silently apologised to his dead family as his body tensed up greatly.

"Axle, calm down... It's me." He recognized that voice. It was smooth, calming and relaxing. It was a voice he didn't expect to hear. "Carly?" He turned around and saw the silver orbs that stared deep into his soul. He felt relieved. He quickly hugged her and allowed a small tear to escape his eye before he realised something. He pulled back from the hug and looked at her.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He asked, worried for Carly's safety. "Grey became a---" He was cut off by Carly putting her index finger on his lips. "I know... he's a CyberHuman and he has a weakness." She said with a serious face.

"Yeah, EMP and Carbex." Axle said while Carly shook her head with a smirk. "You may know the basic weaknesses, but I know his main weakness." Axle was now confused by this information.

"What is it?" He asked as his confusion quickly turned into curiosity. "The body that Grey's using is incomplete. That's gonna be his downfall."

"I suspected as much. Grey's been trying to use echolocation to lure me out to finish him so I had a feeling that his body had something to do with it. Thanks for that."

"Oh, I got some weapons in the bag behind me so load up, we're gonna need every single one in there." She said smirking. "Fine. Just stay safe okay." Axle said.

"Says the guy with the exposed human head." Carly said.

"This is frustrating. How the hell am I struggling to find a kid?!" Grey yelled in anger. He felt pathetic since one teen caused so much destruction and was creating so much stress for him.

Before he could even think of anything else, he got shot in his right arm. He looked to see what happened but he was knocked down by a punch that Axle had given him. He got up and there was no trace of Axle anywhere. He snarled as he wondered how Axle was able to get the jump on him so quickly.

He had no time to think about it since he got shot in his left leg this from the back this time. He was now tripped by Carly before she stomped on his chest. She took off and he got shot at again so he wouldn't be able to follow her.

"Where are you Ryder?!" Eight Thirty Two yelled in anger. "I don't know!" Axle's voice mockingly yelled.

"Wow, life or death hide and seek... You suck at this Grey!!!" Carly yelled mocking him as well.

Grey was starting to lose control over his cybernetic body. His anger was making him function less efficiently which created a series of sparks and glitches from around his body.

"Siiiiimmmoooonnnn!! Simon!!" Axle's voice yelled once more, mocking him as he was laughing. "Show yourself you coward!!" The CyberHuman yelled before a dark silhouette was walking in front of him.

"You wanted me?" This silhouette spoke. It was Axle and he was holding a carbex long sword and a gun loaded with carbex bullets. He also had another sword strapped to his back.

"Here I am bitch." Axle said to Grey. His face blank, showing no emotion. None at all. "We end everything here Grey... this is where I fulfil my promise to kill you." Axle said before putting the gun in the strap on his leg. He drew the second sword and got into a fighting stance.

The final battle was about to begin.
