Chapter 24: Carly VS CyberOps

Everywhere. That's where Carly was looking. She searched everywhere for Axle. The thing about that search was that he was nowhere to be found. She found the place where Axle tried to blow himself up, but there was only one thing she could think of, and that was him. She noticed that the cause of what seemed to be an explosion was made by grenade explosions.

The CyberHuman dropped to her knees as she remembered that a certain person had a bunch of grenades wrapped around his torso like a bow on a Christmas or birthday present. Her heart sank as she came to think of the worst.

"Axle you idiot." The artificial tears came out of her cybernetic eyes. All she felt was pain. Not any physical pain, no... It was emotional pain, the worst kind of pain. She suffered a blow worse than all the torture she had endured... worse than what happened to her before the accident that killed Carla Evans... worse than the sick and twisted choice that Bernstein gave her... It was heartbreak.

And the cause of this was obviously losing Axle. He became a beacon for her, he was her light in the dark and she couldn't beat the thought of living life without him. After all, he was her hero.

"Where do you think the kid ran off to?" A rough male voice interrupted Carly from her time of mourning.

"I don't know, all I DO know is that General Grey wants him alive so he can kill him himself." Another voice said. Carly was left confused. They couldn't have been talking about Axle, right?

"All I can say is that kid has some balls. He tried to kill the general by bombing himself, and now they're both lurking around somewhere here." A third voice spoke. This just convinced her. Those words changed things now.

She couldn't believe what she heard... Axle was alive and kicking. He was alive and he was lurking around somewhere in the military base, looking for Grey so that he could fulfill his promise to himself to kill him.

"He's alive... he's alive... he's alive!!!" Carly said out of pure relief and happiness. She was on cloud nine at the moment as sighed. Unfortunately for her she said that a little bit too loud.

"Hey, I think there's someone in here." The third guy's voice was heard. Carly panicked. How much more were there? What was going to happen? She decided to grab an Uzi and hide.

"Wait, this is the Uzi that Axle was using... That idiot." She quietly said to herself before she heard the people walk in. She looked around for a hiding spit while looking to see how much enemies were going to enter the room.

"Search the room. Whoever is hiding here won't stay hidden for long." The one in front said who clearly had to be Thompson. She panicked and chose to hide under a pile of dead bodies.

She recognised him. That face. He was one of the guys who joined Bernstein on the torture, before meeting Axle and after her capture. Upon seeing and remembering Thompson's face, she glared a with a look of malice. If looks could kill, Thompson would die a thousand deaths.

She also recognised Thompson's voice and she automatically knew that it was him and his squad that broke into Axle's house... He was the reason Axle ended up in the hospital. She wasn't going to let that one slide, not one bit.

She snarled worse than any predator in the wild. One of the soldiers walked toward where she was hiding. The CyberHuman took the opportunity she was given by tripping the soldier and breaking his skull with one punch after he landed on the floor.

"Gross, I got blood and brains on my hand. Blegh!!" She groaned in disgust as the blood and brain matter was still clinging to her hand.

"Over there!!" One of the soldiers yelled. Before she knew it, she had two red dots pointed at her head. She looked at them with no interest at all.

"Fire!!" Time stood still for Carly now. She looked around and saw the two guys before they shot at her. The girl dodged but she got his as a bullet pierced the synthetic tissue on her upper thigh.

She groaned as she felt the pain of the bullet hitting her. Although they were artificial, the pain receptors stored in the nerves of the synth tissue made the pain feel very real. She looked and watched. Thompson licking his lips in a hungry sadistic manner while looking at her with a sadistic smirk that matched the hunger in his eyes. The guy next to him looking at her with a blank stare.

She knew that he was her next target. The two soldiers looked at her with cold eyes, both their fingers itching to pull the triggers on their guns.

Here goes nothing, Carly thought before she pulled the trigger on the Uzi shooting around the two, aiming at their feet. They backed away a few feet before she bolted out of the room, trying to stay alive so she could meet up with Axle.

They gave chase and they were on her tail. She somehow couldn't shake them and she had no idea why. All she knew was that running would have no point to it as the human lungs, which was preserved from her old body, was going to tire out soon, no matter how much her cybernetic body enhanced her human organs.

She stopped and found the two looking at her. "Bring it." She said before they dropped their guns. This was a classic old fashioned stand off. Would've been good if Axle was there to make it a Mexican stand off, but he wasn't. Cold stares however, were being exchanged by Carly and her enemies.

The soldier next to Thompson lunged forward to attack Carly but she stopped him dead in his tracks. How? She grabbed him, wrapped her arm around his neck and squeezed until his brain popped within his skull.

"That was for breaking into Axle's house and putting him in the hospital." She said with a dark blank stare as she gazed upon the now cowering form of Thompson.

She walked slowly towards him after using her fingers to remove the bullet from her leg. He was paralyzed. He couldn't move. Why was this happening?

That blank look on Carly's face quickly turned into a snarl that showed anger and hatred. He could feel the atmosphere... All he felt was the malice and spite that the CyberHuman gave off.

Each step that Carly took, was another step closer to Thompson losing his life. "You're gonna pay you swine." She growled before grabbing him by the neck and throwing him against the wall.

"Now go to Hell and suffer for eternity." She said. All there was was a darkness followed by endless screams from Thompson.
