Chapter 14

You gently draped a blanket over Jungkook. He had fallen asleep on the couch after your conversation. His face, usually focused and tense, looked peaceful, almost angelic, in his sleep. You couldn't help but touch his cheek softly, feeling a mix of emotions you couldn't quite place.
Why does he have to be so damn handsome even when he's passed out?
"He's not one of us," Namjoon's voice cut through your thoughts. You turned to see him standing in the doorway, arms crossed, shaking his head, his tone heavy with distrust.
You sighed and followed Namjoon to a quiet corner of the hideout. His wariness was palpable, and it frustrated you. "He's risking everything to help us. We need him."
Namjoon's eyes narrowed. "Or maybe you're just blinded by your feelings for him."
You bristled at the accusation. "That's not fair, Namjoon. He's proven himself. He even got shot protecting me. We don't have the luxury of doubting each other right now."
Namjoon's gaze softened slightly, but his resolve remained. "Fine. But I'm keeping an eye on him. I hope you know what you're doing, y/n."
You sighed again. "I do. I promise."
The tension between you was high as you joined Yoongi and Jin at the table. You pulled out the drive you had hacked before the game sucked you and Jungkook in, and placed it in the center.
"What's on this bad boy?" Yoongi asked, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
You took a deep breath. "Data on OmniCorp's operations, financial records, and some high-level communications. But we need to decode it all."
Jin grinned, leaning back in his chair. "Oh great, more late-night decoding sessions. Just what I like."
You leaned forward, your gaze intense. "Did our broadcast from inside the game make any difference?"
Jin nodded, though his expression was somber. "A few more people joined us, but it's not enough. We need something bigger to bring OmniCorp down. Maybe this drive has what we need."
Could this be the key to our victory?
You pushed your doubts aside and focused on the task at hand.
If only we could have a breakthrough without losing more people.
As all four of you pored over the files, Jungkook stirred and woke up. His doe eye found you and he approached the table, placing a gentle hand on your arm. "You need to get some rest, y/n," he said softly, concern in his eyes.
You shook your head. "I'll sleep later. We need to figure this out."
Jungkook's touch lingered for a moment before he withdrew. "Stubborn as always," he muttered with a smirk, earning a chuckle from Yoongi.
"You have no idea," Yoongi added, rolling his eyes. "This one doesn't know the meaning of the word 'rest'."
You shot him a look. "Thanks for the support, Yoongi."
The group continued the discussion, working out a plan to infiltrate OmniCorp and rescue Taehyung.
"Going in guns blazing isn't an option," Namjoon stated, his voice grave. "We'll be wiped out before we get close."
Yoongi nodded in agreement. "We need to strike from within. Disable their security systems, create a diversion."
Jin leaned forward, eyes sharp. "What about the intel on the drive? Can it help us?"
You glanced at the files spread out on the table. "There's detailed schematics of their main facility. We can use it to plan our infiltration."
Jungkook, now fully awake and alert, joined the conversation. "We'll need to move fast and stay under the radar. Any slip-ups and it's over."
Yoongi looked at Jungkook with a hint of admiration. "You know the place. Lead the way, and we'll follow."
Jin smirked. "Just don't get us all killed, pretty boy."
Jungkook rolled his eyes at the nickname and shot him a wry smile. "No promises. But I'll try my best."
You felt confident. "We have to do this. For Taehyung. For everyone OmniCorp has hurt."
You spent hours refining your plan, every detail scrutinized and debated. The stakes were too high for mistakes. Your mind was full of strategies and what-ifs.
If we screw this up, there's no second chance.
As the meeting concluded, Jungkook quietly excused himself and slipped out of the room. You, struggling with Namjoon's lingering mistrust, followed him into the faintly lit corridors of the abandoned building that served as your hideout.
You found Jungkook in a secluded corner, his back turned as he focused on a small communication device. Your initial concern flared, but you pushed it down.
Namjoon's wariness shouldn't cloud my judgment.
Stepping closer, your voice was soft but steady. "Everything okay?"
He turned quickly, surprise running across his face. "Yeah, just making sure we're not being tracked."
You took a breath, willing yourself to believe in him. "Okay," you replied quietly, trying to drown out the doubts.
Jungkook pocketed the device and closed the distance between you, his expression earnest. "I'm here to help you find Taehyung. That's all that matters."
You nodded, relief washing over you as you decided to set aside any suspicions. You two had fought together, bled together, faced danger together. Surely, that counted for something.
Later that night, you found yourself drawn to Jungkook once more. Moonlight filtered through broken windows, casting ethereal shadows across the dusty floor.
He was deep in thought. You approached him quietly, the air thick with unspoken emotions. "Jungkook," your voice barely more than a whisper.
He turned to you, his gaze softening immediately as he realized it was you. "Y/n."
In the stillness of the night, you closed the distance between you. Your hands found each other naturally, fingers intertwining as you stood face to face. Jungkook's touch was gentle yet grounding you in the present moment.
Without words, Jungkook leaned in, crushing his lips into yours in a hungry kiss.
You responded instinctively, your doubts fading into the background as the kiss deepened. You felt his warmth, his commitment, reaffirming your bond.
When you finally parted, breath heavy with shared intimacy, Jungkook whispered softly, "I meant it, y/n. I'm on your side."
Your heart swelled with newfound certainty. "I know," you murmured, a small smile playing on your lips.
Hand in hand, you walked back through the abandoned building.
Your mission was set. Tomorrow, you would confront OmniCorp and rescue Taehyung.
I only hope our plan is enough.
You yawned, your body finally giving into the exhaustion.
I just need a little nap.
