Chapter 13

The hideout was mostly dark, the air thick with anticipation. Jin led Jungkook and you through the narrow corridors to the main briefing room.
"Yoongi's just through here," Jin said, throwing a glance back at Jungkook. "Try not to get too offended if he's a bit... abrasive."
Jungkook gave a small, sarcastic smile. "Great. Can't wait." He looked calm, but you could sense his nerves.
Together you stepped into the room where Yoongi was bent over a holographic map. His sharp eyes flicked up as you entered.
"So this is the infamous Jeon Jungkook," Yoongi said, smirking. "You don't look like much."
"And you must be the legendary Yoongi," Jungkook shot back with a grin. "They said you were grumpy, but I didn't think they meant right off the bat."
Yoongi chuckled, and the tension eased slightly. He stepped forward and shook Jungkook's hand.
"We'll see if you can keep up," Yoongi said.
Namjoon and Jin were already at the table, their expressions wary. Namjoon, in particular, eyed Jungkook with suspicion.
"Before we start planning, I want to know why we should trust you," Namjoon said, his voice cold.
Seriously, Namjoon? Way to break the ice.
Jungkook met Namjoon's gaze steadily. "I've seen what OmniCorp does to people. I want to stop them as much as you do. I'm here because I believe in this cause."
Namjoon didn't soften but nodded curtly. "Fine. But any sign of betrayal, and you're done."
Jin leaned back in his chair, amusement in his eyes. "Well, now that we've got the melodrama out of the way, can we talk about the plan?"
Yoongi activated the holographic map, highlighting the OmniCorp facility. "We'll need to infiltrate their main security grid to get to Taehyung. It's heavily guarded, and the encryption is top-notch."
"We've managed tougher jobs before," you said. "Besides, Jungkook knows the layout."
Jungkook leaned in, studying the map. "There's a weak point here. We can exploit it if we time it right."
Namjoon watched him closely, his expression unreadable. "And what makes you think they won't see us coming?"
"That's where I come in." Intercepted Yoongi. "I'll be handling the tech side, disabling alarms and creating distractions."
Namjoon narrowed his eyes at Jungkook "One wrong move, and it's over for you."
"Understood."
After the briefing, the two of you walked down the corridor, the tension from the planning session still hanging in the air. You noticed Jungkook wince slightly, reminding you of his wound.
"We should get that looked at," you said, pointing to his shoulder.
"Yeah, it's starting to sting a bit," Jungkook admitted with lopsided smile.
You led him to the small infirmary where Nari, the young doctor with bright eyes, was waiting.
Nari greeted you with a warm smile. "Come on in. Let's take a look at that wound."
Jungkook hopped onto the examination table, trying to appear nonchalant. Nari began tending to his wound with gentle hands.
"Take off your shirt so I can get a better look," Nari said.
Better look, my ass.
Jungkook complied, pulling off his blood-soaked shirt. You couldn't help but ogle his muscles and the intricate tattoos running along his right arm.
Holy hell, he's built like a god.
Jungkook caught you staring and smirked. "Enjoying the view?"
You felt your face heat up and quickly looked away, scolding yourself.
Get a grip, y/n. Now's not the time to drool over him.
Nari, oblivious to your internal struggle, began cleaning the wound.
"You're quite the hero, aren't you?" she said, her voice flirtatious. "Bet you have a lot of stories."
Jungkook smiled politely. "I've had my share of adventures."
Oh, please. This is not the time to flirt.
Nari continued, her fingers brushing Jungkook's arm. "You should be careful. We wouldn't want a handsome face like yours getting hurt again."
"I appreciate the concern," Jungkook replied.
You stood nearby, arms crossed, trying to focus on anything but the way Nari leaned in a little too close. You knew you shouldn't care, but seeing Nari flirt with Jungkook set your veins on fire.
Nari noticed your glare and stepped back. "I'll get you some more bandages."
As she walked away, you stepped closer to Jungkook. "You seem to be enjoying the attention."
Jungkook looked amused. "Jealous?"
"Of course not," you snapped. "Just making sure you're focused."
"Don't worry," Jungkook said with a smile. "I'm focused on the mission. And on you."
You felt your face heat up again, your heart racing. Flustered, you stumbled over your words. "I-I'm... good to know," you stammered, almost knocking over a tray of medical supplies.
Smooth, y/n. Real smooth.
Jungkook's smirk widened, clearly enjoying your discomfort. "Cute."
After leaving the infirmary, you found a shirt to wear for your wounded flirt and a quiet corner to grab a bite. The tension from earlier had faded, replaced by a comfortable silence. You unwrapped a sandwich from "Sweet Haven," a local bakery.
"Have you been there before?" You asked, taking a bite and pointing at the logo. "The food's pretty good."
"Never, but you're right, it's not bad for a hideout," Jungkook agreed. "Sweet Haven, huh? Sounds like a place from a storybook."
"It does, doesn't it?" You laughed. "So, Jungkook, what did you do before all this? Before OmniCorp?"
Jungkook took a moment, his expression thoughtful. "I used to spend a lot of time in this park near my old place, 'Serenity Park.' It was a small, peaceful spot. I'd go there with my parents. We'd have picnics and play catch with my dad." A wistful smile appeared on his handsome face.
"I'm sorry, Jungkook. Losing them must have been hard."
"It was. But being here, fighting for something bigger, it's given me a new purpose. What about you?" Jungkook asked. "Any special memories?"
"I moved around a lot," you started. "But I remember this one bakery in my hometown my mom used to take us to. Best lemon pastries in the city. My brother and I would save up all week just to buy a single treat."
Jungkook smiled, a warm, genuine smile that made your heart skip a beat. "Maybe after all this is over, we can visit those places. Sweet Haven and Serenity Park. Make some new memories."
You felt a lump in your throat, touched by his words. "I'd like that."
As you finished your meal, the bond between you felt stronger than ever.
Despite everything, there's hope, and that's enough.
