Things Change

I kept finding changes in little things. For example, people at school. More specifically, girls.

I was standing beside an old friend of mine and I happened to note that she smelled pretty nice. New perfume, I guess. Whatever it was, it smelled nice.

I haven't spoken to this girl, Clary Darling, since Freshman year. We used to hang out a lot and, well, things change. She ended up gaining new friends and I started losing my friends. We went our separate ways that summer. I was kind of angered and depressed as hell that summer. No wonder why people left.

Anyway, I digress.

So, we were waiting in line to get our food in the cafeteria. Then I opened my dumb mouth.

"Hey Clary," God, I sounded stupid. "You smell nice. Is it a new perfume?" Really stupid.

"I'm not gay." Clary looked at me like I was dog shit on the bottom of her designer shoes. I returned the foul look, but maybe with a little more heat.

"Bitch," it slipped. "I said you smelled nice, not I want to lick your pussy." I word vomited. I hated when I do that.

"Excuse you?" Clary's annoying voice squeaked as she raised a perfect eyebrow at me.

"You heard me."

"No, I don't believe I did." Clary was trying to push my buttons. I hate when people push my buttons.

"I tried to compliment you, but instead you said something that offended me a little."

We were holding up the line. People behind us were getting angry. We both turned to give them a bitchface. They went around us after that.

"How was that offensive? I said that I wasn't gay." She crossed her arms. "Just because I'm straight doesn't mean that you could get offended by me saying that I'm not gay."

Could she say even worse bullshit? I mean, really?

"I'm angry that after I tried to compliment you, a friend, and you immediately said that you were straight." I blinked quickly. I tend to do that when I get angry. "Just because you know my sexuality is different than yours, doesn't mean that you could treat me differently."

"Does it now? So now everything is about you?" Clary shifted her weight to her other leg. "Oh, and let's get one thing straight. I am not your friend." She scoffed. "As if I would be friends with a freak like you."

That? That right there? That pissed me off.

"Too bad that this freak knows that you popped your cherry with a hairbrush while you were video chatting with a man that was almost 32."

"You wouldn't dare," her eyes opened comically wide.

"Oh, believe me Clary. I would." I snapped back at her.

I have no fucking clue where that sass came from.

I guess my brother was right when he said that people change.

6:48

The clock's bright numbers blinked at me. I had my head laying on Liv's lap. Her fingers were carding through my hair, lulling me in and out of sleep. My Liv thought it was adorable. I found her being the adorable one when she leaned down to peck me on the lips every now and then. Her lips were really soft. Like soft soft.

We were lounging on her bed. Her father was at work. Cass and Caleb were out at the park. It was just Liv and I.

"Can I ask you a question, Dee?" My Liv spoke into the quiet room.

"You just did." I murmured back sleepily. She huffed at me and shifted down the bed. I cracked open one eye and watched as she situated herself to where our legs were entangled and her arms were around my waist.

"Smartass," she whispered fondly
She leaned in a kissed me on my nose softly. I wrinkled my nose playfully. Liv giggled and kissed my nose again.

"What's your question, Liv?"

"Can I kiss you?" Liv whispered even quietly than before. I opened both of my eyes this time and raised them to meet her eyes. I watched as her pupils expanded. I saw a flash of her pink tongue dart out to lick her lips.

"I would be disappointed of you didn't, babe." Before I had a chance to blink, soft, supple lips crashed hard into my own.

The air rushed from my lungs, and I felt a lithe arm wrap around my waist and bring my body closer to the other woman, prompting me out of the shocked haze my mind was in. Eagerly, my lips began to move in the same rhythm, reciprocating each and every action. I laid a hand on Liv's collarbone, felt her lean into the touch. As our tongues met, a light moan bubbled from the depths of Liv's throat, only increasing the intensity of each contact.

When oxygen became a problem, slowly, reluctantly, I brought my hands to the blonde's cheeks and broke the kiss, though she kept our foreheads touching as we gasped for what little air still sat between our lips. Both of us felt the temperature of the other's skin as we regained our breath, minds racing as fast as heartbeats.

"That was," Liv's voice rasped.

"Amazing," I finished. Her beautiful eyes lit up more as she laughed.

"Yeah. Yeah it was." Her nose nuzzled my cheek.

I love you, I wanted to say those three words to her right then and there.

I was saving that for a better day.
