AN: Sorry for the late update, guys. I got a puppy! Yay! I'm planning on getting him trained and registered as an emotional support animal (I have anxiety issues and my mom thought it would be good to get a dog, so we did). Anyways, here's chapter six.

I left Liv's place feeling better than I had in days. Caleb had given me a huge hug before I left and Cassandra sent me home with a bag of cookies.

I walked two houses over and found myself at the door of my house. I really didn't want to trek inside, weary that my mother would be in one of her moods again. I breathed in deep and entered my home, heading towards the kitchen to put the cookies away.

"Delilah, is that you?" I heard my mother's voice call out. Probably from the living room from the sound of it.

No, I'm a serial killer. I'm in the kitchen. Would you like a sandwich?, I wanted to reply.

"Yeah," I called back to her. "I'm in the kitchen." I placed Cassandra's cookies on a plate and stuck them in the microwave to keep them fresh(ish).

"Where have you been?" Her voice sounded closer. I looked towards the kitchen door and saw my mom leaning in the doorway.

"I was over at Liv's." I said with a shrug.

"What were you doing over at someone's house? Today is Wednesday. You remember what we do on Wednesdays?" Mom said the last sentence slowly, as of speaking to a child.

"Yes, I know." I rolled my eyes and scoffed quietly. "On Wednesdays we visit Henry at the hospital."

"That's right. We're already going to be late, so hurry up and get out in the car." Mom didn't wait for a reply. She just walked out of the kitchen, assumingly to sit in the car and wait.

My mom could be a drama queen at times. I really wonder what it would be like if she was the 17 year old hormonal teenager and I the 36 year old adult. That's some of that Freaky Friday bullshit for you.

Being the 17 year old teenager that I am, I took my time putting my bag upstairs in my room. Just to piss my mom off. If she was going to act like someone pissed in her Cheerios, then so could I.

The doctors said that Henry wasn't doing so well. They didn't know when he was going to wake from his coma, if he was going to wake up at all. Mom and Dad were talking out in the hall with Henry's main doctor, Dr. Brady.

I was sitting in the chair next to his bed, trying not to listen in in what they were talking about out in the hall. I looked over my brother's frail body, tears threatening to escape. Scooting my chair closer to his bed, I reached out and held his hand that didn't have the IV in it.

I clutched his hand in both of mine. I kissed the back of his limp hand as tears began to fall. Damn it. I promised myself I wouldn't cry. I think that just made the tears fall faster. Letting out a whimper, I placed my forehead on his shoulder, not even caring if I got his gown wet.

Click.

Oh shit. That's the door.

I dropped Henry's hand and scrubbed at my tears with the back of my hand. I sniffled a bit and looked up at who entered the room, relieved at who it was.

Gabriela, Henry's nurse. She has beautiful mocha colored skin and long black hair, usually kept in elaborate braids. Her expressive brown eyes voiced her concern as she enveloped me in one of her hugs.

"Oh sugar," Gabriela patted my back. "You've been strong for too long. Let all that pain, all that heartbreak, go." My treacherous body obeyed Gabriela's soothing voice.

"I-I'm just s-so w-worried that he mi-might not make it, G-Gabs." I stuttered and sniffled my way through the sentence. She rocked me gently.

"I know baby, I know." Gabs stroked my back, calming me down a little. "I've got some good news for you, sugar." She smiled down at me, that small gap in her two front teeth making me smile. I love that little gap.

"Good news?" I asked as I settled down, rubbing at my eyes again.

"Mhmm." Gabs moved my hair out of my face. "Henry's been showing some signs of waking up soon." Her smile widened as one appeared on my face.

"Really, Gabs?" I stood up quickly, wrapping my arms around her excitedly. "That's amazing news!" We bounced gleefully.

"Dr. Brady thought that I should've been the one to tell you. He's telling your parents about his vitals and that he should wake up soon. Any day now, actually."

"Yes!" I laughed happily. "Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh, Gabs, this is amazing! Perfect!" I was completely aware that I was making myself look like a complete fool in front of Gabriela, but she didn't seem to care.

"I believe that Dr. Brady wanted to talk to you after I delivered some good news." She motioned to my brother. "I'll watch him like a hawk. You go on and talk to Dr. Brady."

"Okay." I gently kissed my brother on his forehead and hugged Gabs again.

"I'll see you next Wednesday, darlin'. I'll call you when Henry makes up his mind and wakes up." She patted my arm.

"Thanks Gabs." I shot her a smile as I opened Henry's door and walked out into the hallway.

That smile stayed on my face the rest of the night.
