History
They had history. Of course they did.
Lucy was eighteen years old, and she couldn't stop thinking about him. Luke.
She looked through her songs on her iPod and came to a song that literally described both of them perfectly. It was "history".
She put in her ear buds, and closed her eyes listening to the song.
You gotta help me I'm losing my mind.
And she was, she really was.
Keep getting the feeling you wanna leave this all behind.
Thought we were going strong, thought we were holding on, aren't we?
He told her to leave, that night. Just told her to up and leave he had to think.
She didn't understand what was going on, she thought they were okay, clearly they weren't.
Then came the next part of the song:
No they don't teach you, this in school. Now my hearts breaking and I don't know what to do.
He was right, they don't teach you at school someone that you've known for years fallen in love with, would just tell you to leave without explaining anything.
"Why are you doing this? Why are you making me leave, what did I do?"
"It's not you-" he started, sighing.
"No don't you dare use the old trick 'it's not you its me' because clearly I've done something or maybe you just don't love me anymore. I don't know what to do Luke, tell me, tell me what to do!" She begged.
"I can't, you've done nothing wrong, it's me, I don't deserve you."
"Why don't I deserve you, you're my best friend I've known you for God know's how long, I love you."
"I love you too..."
You and me gotta a whole lot of history, oh, we could be the greatest thing that the world has ever seen.
Now the tears came, she left him, she had no choice, he didn't explain why he wanted her to go other than she was too good for him. Which in her eyes, she wasn't.
She wiped her eyes. No she wasn't going to cry over him, when he didn't give her a proper reason, she shouldn't be crying over him at all.
But the thing was she didn't just lose her boyfriend, she lost her best friend.
She sat up, paused the song and rang him, she wanted an answer from him.
"Hello?" He asked, it had been months since she heard his voice and she started crying.
She tried to stop her from choking and from him hearing her starting to cry, "hi," she croaked.
"Lucy?" He asked, his voice soft, "are you okay?"
"I just miss you..." She whispered, "a lot."
"I miss you too, but I told you..." He trailed off.
"Don't say it again, please." She begged, "I love you Luke, don't you get that, I don't want to be away from you, I want to be with you."
"I'm sorry..." He trailed off.
"Screw you Luke, at least I tried!" She growled.
"Lucy, wait..."
"No you've made yourself pretty clear, I don't know what the hell's happened between us, but I give up, I've spent these past few months not knowing what the hell went wrong, but now I know." She whispered.
"You do?"
"Yes," she said, "I do, you are a coward," she said, then hung up.
She closed her eyes, listened to the rest of the song, and eventually fell asleep after crying for what felt like hours.
When she looked at her phone the next day there were several calls and texts from him, but she just ignore them.
It's time she thought to herself I have to move on.
Eventually she did, he wasn't worth crying over, at all.
A/N: hope you enjoyed this was actually quite depressing but someone suggested pick a song and write a short story about it, so I did, and this happened though I didn't really listen to the song I just listened to some of it. I initially thought of a happy ending but I'm feeling tired and this sort of happened. I'll probably write another chapter another day not sure when, vote/comment if you enjoyed and I'll see you in the next chapter bye guys!
