one: he was no damsel and i was no knight
He wasn't a damsel in distress, I would like to make that clear. He just needed help getting home and I just so happened to come across him. He was the one who decided to walk in the pouring rain without a jacket, I wasn't even supposed to get off work early that day but Liam had decided to close the bar due to the lack of business.
It had only been a week since I last saw him, since I learned his name but that was all I knew about Niall was his name... and I guess the fact that he wore flower crowns, but I was sort of overlooking that fact at the moment. He looked absolutely drenched and I took pity on him even though I wasn't sure how helpful it would be to give him a ride on the motorcycle I rode.
He wasn't a damsel and I most definitely wasn't some knight in shining armor.
But I was gonna help him because that's what you're supposed to do.
"Hey, you need a ride?" I asked as soon as I reached him, pulling off to the side of the road. Niall just keeps walking, almost like I didn't say anything. I took the helmet I was wearing off, shaking out my hair before throwing my kickstand out so I could go jogging after him. I wasn't really sure why because normally I would've just let him walk away, but something seemed to compel me to go after him. It didn't take me long to reach him and I reached for his hand out of all things which turned out to be a mistake when I found myself laying on the sidewalk, blinking up at Niall in pure disbelief.
"Fucking touch me again and I will spray you in the eyes with pepper sp-Oh, it's you! Sorry, thought you were some sort of sexual predator." Niall says, helping me back up. I cleared my throat, wiping off my jacket even though it was no use due to the down pour rain.
"You really shouldn't just creep up on people like that though, for all you know I could be a sexual predator." Niall says, almost like he was trying to lighten up the mood but I was still taken a little off guard.
"I'm not a sexual predator...I was just seeing if you... Do you like... Do you need a ride? I've got a motorcycle so I guess you'll still get wet, but it's better than walking." I stammered out, still trying to figure out how the hell I'd ended up on the ground. Niall didn't seem strong, but what did I know? I'd only just met the guy last week and he didn't even know my name.
"Sure, that'd be nice actually... but first I'd like to at least know the name of my savior, especially now that we've established you're not a sexual predator." Niall says and I blinked at him, not really registering that he'd agreed to my offer just yet. He's staring at me and it was only then that I realized he'd asked for my name.
"Harry... My name's Harry." I say quietly, scratching the back of my head.
"Like Prince Harry?" Niall asks, earning a shrug from me.
"Yeah, sure." I said before gesturing towards the bike.
"My rides over there... You're gonna have to hold on, but like I said, it's better than walking."
"Great. The sooner we get out of here, the better." Niall says and together we walk back to my bike. I climb on first, reaching for the helmet I'd been wearing earlier so that I could hand it to Niall.
"Here, put this on."
"What about you? Looks like you've only got one?" Niall points out, earning yet another shrug from me.
"Don't need one. Rather keep my passengers safe." I said before climbing onto the bike. Niall seems to let it go at that, putting on the helmet as I try to start the bike only to have the engine sputter out.
"Shit..." I whisper, trying again only to have it do the exact same thing.
"What's wrong?" Niall asks, already having the helmet on. I couldn't help but laugh, throwing my head back because it was just my luck. If I had just kept going, if I hadn't stopped, I could've made it home and I wouldn't be soaking wet anymore.
"My bike... it uh... It doesn't like the rain, so the engine is uh... uh it's not starting." I said and it's Niall's turn to laugh. The sound was almost like music and I felt an odd sensation in the pit of my stomach at it.
"Well the mechanics shop isn't too far of a walk... If we're lucky they're still open?"
"We're gonna have to push it..." I said, scratching the back of my head again because I felt kinda bad. I'd offered him a ride and now he had to help me push my bike... This wasn't exactly what I wanted.
"I'm already soaked, a little more rain isn't going to kill me." Niall says, shrugging before grabbing the other side of the bike.
"Uh thanks..." I managed to say, helping Niall push the bike in the direction he'd said the mechanics shop was.
"No problem, Prince Harry."
So like I said, he wasn't a damsel in distress.
I wasn't the knight.
This isn't a fairy tale.
