[Kate's P.O.V.]

I watched Nina walk around the woods. Her and I were friends before I "went mad," as she put it. Yes, I did go "mad," but aetter term would be "insane." It's been so long since I've seen her face to face, with her actually looking back at me. She's been my friend forever, but not anymore. She thought I was a monster. Nothing more than someone who killed just because my Operator, Slenderman, told me to.

So what was she doing out in the woods this late at night? It's nearly midnight!

[Nina's  P.O.V.]

The woods have always felt like home yo me. Even after they helped with driving Kate mad. A simple thought of Kate almost always brought me to tears. Her, Eli and I have always been best friends. But now Eli was dead and Kate was a killer. I know, what a great choice of friends!

Anyways, I came out into the woods tonight to try and talk to Kate. Even if it meant her or that Slenderman guy would end up killing me. I needed to talk to her.

As always, I forgot to bring something very important. This time, it was a flashlight. Silly me. So now I was wandering around the dark, looking for my killer best friend. (See what I did there with the killer part? :D) Am I going mad too? What was I thinking? Forgetting a flashlight as I strolled around in the dark and spooky woods on a moonless night.

I sighed, kicking at a rock and sitting on the tree stump Kate and I used as a table whenever we came out here to have tea partys as little kids. That was too much; I put my head in my hands and burst into tears. Oh, how I missed Kate. Words could not describe how much I missed my friend I thought of as my sister.

As I was lost in thought, I heard a twig snap and I spun to see someone standing behind me. The person had on a white hoodie and a hockey-goalie mask like Jason. I wiped my tears away and stood up quickly, taking a few steps away. The wind picked up, blowing my cocoa-brown around in the wind along with the masked girl's jet black hair. The girl took a step forward, and I took another step away. "Please don't hurt me," I whispered, starting to cry again. This time not from sadness, but fear. I was scared.

The girl hung her head, as if hurt or disappointed at my words. "I'd never hurt you, Nina," she mumbled. Wait, I knew that voice! Sure, I haven't heard it in a long time, but I still recognized it. Taking a step forward (and the girl taking one away as if she were afraid she would hurt me), I asked, ".....Kate?" She nodded slowly, and before she could do anything, I jumped at her and tackled her in a bear hug, causing her mask to fly off. "I've missed you so much," I told her, crying from the joy of seeing my friend again.

She tried pushing me off at first, saying things like "I might hurt you" or "Please leave me alone, I'm a killer" but she finally gave up, hugging me back. "I've missed you too," she finally said back.

It felt so good to see my friend again. Not the mad friend, but my oh-my-gosh-I'm-so-happy-to-see-you friend I've missed for so long. It's been so long........so long.....

"Nothing can keep us from being friends," I say softly, "We're best friend, okay?" I felt her head nod against my story, and I smiled sadly.

As if she could sense my sadness, she pulled away and looked up at me with concerned eyes. "Nina?" she asked, staring at me. I feel my smile grow wider, staring back at her as I whispered softly, "We'll always be friends, forever." The concern leaves her eyes, replaced by confusion and a slight sense of horror.

I chuckled quietly and grabbed an item from my back pocket, watching her eyes grow wide in terror as she sees the item. Before she had any time to react, I dove at her, pinning her against the ground. I pressed the sharpened knife against her neck, slowly making a deep laceration into her throat as I hissed in her ear, "We'll be the best of friends, forever."
