EIGHTEEN

Every child always looked forward to the summer. The Weasley, Potter, and Malfoy children were no exception.

So after exams were over- due to the circumstances any student who still chose to do their exams could- each of the five Weasley/Potter children ran out of school, throwing their hands up in the air.

Teddy and Callie were the only ones to choose to take their exams, while Brady, James, and Victoire were forced to by their parents. Teddy and Callie were anxious to find out if they passed; if they were an Auror and a healer.
——
They had found out their grades during the graduation ceremony. Both had passed with flying colors, their late nights of studying paying off.

On the boat ride back across the Black Lake, a storm of emotions raged through then both. Sorrow, at that they would never return to the castle as students; joy at that they passed and were doing their dream careers; and relief: they had made it. It was a rather bittersweet day, especially for Harry, George, and Ginny.

There was obviously a celebration dinner at He Burrow, courtesy of Molly. It was normal; nothing really significant happened.
——
The first day of summer, Sirius was at Elle and Fred's cottage. Reese and Josie wouldn't leave his side, as they loved spending time with their grandfather.

"Tell us a story, Grandpa!" Josie insisted.

"What kind of story?" Sirius asked, looking at both girls.

"Something romantic!" Reese said excitedly.

"Something exciting!" Josie added, sitting in front of Sirius on the floor while he was on the couch.

Sirius thought for a moment. "I have just the story."

Reese and Josie looked up at him expectantly, eyes sparkling. Sirius ran his hand through his hair, thinking about how to start the story. After a moment, he started. "Once upon a time there was a beautiful witch named Elle and a troublemaking wizard named Fred...."

The girls looked up at him with a grin on their faces, listening to the story of their parents.

"They met on a train going to a beautiful castle when they were eleven. From the moment they introduced themselves, they were the best of friends. They did everything together; they were inseparable. They pulled prank after prank, following- though the didn't know it- in her father and uncle's footsteps.

"Fred, as I've been told, had a crush on Elle from the first moment he saw her. While Elle had a few people whom she considered her best friends, she was never as close to them as she was to Fred."

The girls giggled and leaned into each other, leaning forward at the same time, wordlessly telling Sirius to continue with the story.

"As they got older, Elle noticed her feelings for Fred changing. Practicing for the Yule Ball, she danced with him. She realized 'I am falling for Fred Weasley.' Everyone had always known that they were going to end up together. It was a match made in heaven. The way they looked at each other even before they were together, the way they laughed together. Fred had pined for her for years, hoping that one day she would reciprocate his feelings. When she finally did, he was always too nervous to talk to her about it.

"And so, Elle pined over Fred. She wanted so desperately for him to ask her to be his girlfriend."

The girls giggled again, picturing young versions of their parents. They thought it was crazy; how they were once the age they are now.

Sirius paused for a moment, smirking slightly, before continuing, "One day, Fred left Hogwarts with his twin, leaving Elle behind to open a joke shop called Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Elle was hurt and lonely without her best friend, but it was her last year at Hogwarts and so she knew she had to stay to finish her education.

"Near the end of the school year, a very bad man by the name of Lord Voldemort planted a vision in Elle's cousin's mind. Harry- her cousin- needed to get to The Ministry of Magic to save his godfather, Elle's father. The vision showed this man- Sirius- tied up. Harry tried to go alone, but all of his friends wouldn't let him, including Elle. And so, all of the teenagers traveled on the backs of thestrals to London, breaking into the Ministry of Magic.

"They went to the place where Sirius was in Harry's vision, only to find it empty. No one was there."

They gasped. "What happened, Grandpa?"

Sirius chuckled before continuing, "Voldemort's followers- Death Eaters- surrounded the teens. They wanted a prophecy, one that only Harry could give them. Harry refused to give it to them, so a battle ensued.

"Everyone fought bravely. They managed to hold the Death Eaters off until members of the Order of the Phoenix arrived. Elle and Harry, however, refused to leave. They wanted to stay and help. Sirius was fighting his cousin, Bellatrix, when she cast a deadly curse. Elle seen this and jumped in front of Sirius, saving his life but dying in the process. Her lively grey eyes were unseeing before she even hit the ground.

Josie and Reese cling to each other, watching Sirius with wide eyes. Sirius smirked slightly before he started continued telling the story.

"Sirius got mad. He chased after Bellatrix, casting curse after curse. Then Voldemort appeared. Instead of taking his anger out on Bellatrix, Sirius started cursing Voldemort. Sirius had been dubbed a criminal, so when the Minister for Magic arrived, he got so scared.

"Instead of arresting him, they actually gave him a fair trial. He was finally a free man, but his daughter wasn't there to see it.

"Fred and Sirius cried over Elle's body together. They were heartbroken. A couple of days went by until Elle's funeral. Everyone was heartbroken. This was horrible. To everyone's surprise, Elle rose up out of the coffin. Everyone couldn't believe it. Elle was alive! Was this some cruel trick?

"Elle continued on like nothing had happened, so the others did as well. Only Voldemort didn't give up. He kept fighting against the good guys. And so, nearly a year later, the Death Eaters returned to Hogwarts with the help of a boy named Draco. Another battle started. Right as soon as she got there, Elle was hurt by Bellatrix. Fred got her to safety, staying with her as she rested. He was so scared he was going to lose her again, so he finally decided to face his fear. Before he could kiss her, Elle kissed him."

The girls squealed, squeezing each other and shaking each other, causing Sirius to smirk down at them.

"And then Fred's brother Bill was brought in, hurt by a werewolf on Voldemort's side. Elle held Fred's hand to comfort him. That night, a great wizard by the name of Albus Dumbledore was killed. In shock, everyone went to their homes.

"At their flat, Elle decided to ask him what they were. When she did, Fred kissed her again. He asked her if she wanted to be his girlfriend, to which she said yes of course.

"Another year went by. Elle had got her license to be a healer and the shop was going wonderfully. Then the final battle happened. It seemed that no one was left uninjured. George's wife Betty gave birth to a baby girl, but she passed away right after due to her injuries. George named this baby Callie, as it was what Betty wanted her to be named. Fred had been crushed by ruble, putting him in a coma. Elle had been crushed as well trying to save him, so she had internal injuries. She got lucky in the fact that she did not go into a coma.

"Months went by. Fred didn't come out of his coma. Healers informed his family that his vitals had been slowly declining. They took him off of life support, expecting him to pass away. It was a miracle; he woke up! However, he didn't remember anyone or anything. It seemed like an eternity passed until he gained his memories back. He finally had, only Elle had gone missing! She returned, but before she could explain where she had went, she went to Fred.

"He finally proposed, right there in the hospital. Elle was over the moon with joy. They went to the family, where Elle informed them that he proposed. Right before they had come home, they found a black German Sheppard puppy in the trash. They brought him home and named him Ben. Elle finally told everyone where she had been: her Uncle Regulus- Sirius's thought to be dead brother- had kidnapped her and told her about how he went into hiding. He had sent her home with a letter for Sirius.

"Voldemort was dead! All was well! Fred and Elle got married with a few bumps along the way. Everyone was finally happy! Babies were born, marriages happened left and right! Everything they had went through hadn't been for nothing."

The girls were beaming with pride. That was their parents! Their parents were so cool and brave!

"Great story, Grandpa!"

"Thank you for telling it!"

Sirius chuckled. "Of course, girls," he paused, looking at his watch, "Oh my! We need to meet your parents and the boys for lunch! C'mon, girls!"
