011. a door in the dark
"Alec, Isabelle, Madeline!" Jocelyn called, as she searched down the hallway for the Lightwoods. The raven haired trio stopped in the hallway and turned to face the woman. The shortest Lightwood, being Madi, crossed her arms before she asked, "What do you want?"
Jocelyn showed them the stone Luke had given her, an adama, "I have a way." She said. Isabelle blinked in surprise, "How did you get that? Only the Iron Sisters have access to adamas." She admitted. "Luke's mother is an Iron Sister. She told him about an ancient way to communicate through the parabatai bond." Jocelyn said before she turned to Alec, "Through your linked spirits."
Alec crossed his arms now too, "Oh, I see. So you want me to help you find my brother so you can try and kill him again?" He asked. "Because we are not interested." Madi glared. "No. I wanna find Clary. She was kidnapped by Dot." Jocelyn called out, "So was Malia."
The Lightwoods look concerned now. "But.. if Malia is with Clary, she could portal them back here." Isabelle stated before Jocelyn sighed, "But that's the thing, she hasn't. Which means they're in danger." She confessed. Madeline frowned, "Valentine must be behind this."
"Why should we trust you?" Alec asked, still quite skeptical. "Look, I know how much your brother means to you. And Clary means just as much to me. And I will do anything to get her back." Jocelyn confessed. "And think about Magnus.. I'm sure Malia means just as much to him, too." She added. Isabelle and Madi share a look before Izzy asked their brother, "What other choice do we have?"
The group followed Jocelyn, into a bedroom. Alec laid down onto the bed. "If Luke's had the stone all along, why didn't he say anything when Jace first went missing?" Madi asked. "I'll be honest. There are some serious risks involved." Jocelyn responded, as Izzy and Madi shared worried glances. "What kind of risks?" Isabelle demanded.
"The parabatai that initiates the contact... it can be taxing on his body, on his mind." Jocelyn explained. "Izzy, it's fine." The older Lightwood decided. "I'm not liking the sound of this." Isabelle confessed before Madi frowned, "Taxing how?" She asked. "We're not sure. Of the few people who have tried it, not many have come back to talk about it." The Fray answered.
"Forget it." The Lightwood girls said in unison. "He's not doing it." Isabelle declared. "No way. We can't lose Alec too." Madi crossed her arms. Alec shook his head, "Don't listen to them!"
"No, Alec. I've already lost both parents to Idris and a brother to Valentine. I'm not gonna lose you, too." Isabelle argued, facing her brother. "Izzy, you said it yourself. We have no choice." Alec argued back. "Yeah Alec that was before we knew you can die! No. Get up!" Madi growled.
"He needs me, Madi, Iz. And I can't... I can't live without him." Alec managed to say.

Clary woke up in a cage, surrounded by other clamoring prisoners in other cages. She looked down, finding an unconscious Malia on the floor of the cell.
"Malia." Clary blurted, bending down to help the warlock that was laying on the ground, though when she got close, Clary could notice black veins all over her face. The Fray's jaw dropped.
Dot approached the cage. "What did you do to her!?! And what did you do to me!?" Clary ordered angrily, as she cradled the unconscious girl in her arms. "I'm so sorry, Clary." Dot replied.
"Up there with Jace, that, that wasn't me talking. I can't see the future, can I?" Clary asked, as Dot shook her head. "No. Valentine made me cast a spell on you so that you'd do as I'd say." The warlock said. "You used me!" Clary gasped, before her eyes darted down to the Bane girl. "And what did you do to Malia!?" She ordered. Dot sighed, "Valentine he.. he injected her with one of his injections.. like he did to me."
Clary looked up in disgust and worry, "What!? What's going to happen to her!?" She asked, worriedly. "She's going to be weak and will struggle to use magic." Dot explained before she reached through the bars to grab Clary's face again. "I.. I have to do this again to you. It wears off quickly on Shadowhunters."
"No, Dot! Please, no! You don't have to do this." Clary struggled and protested as she tried to back away. "If I don't, he'll get angry, and we don't want that." Dot said, still holding Clary's face.
Suddenly, Malia's eyes shot open. Quickly taking in the scene, she did one of the only things she could think of that didn't involve magic. She lurched forward and clamped her teeth down on Dot's wrist, biting it.
Dot winced in pain, before she pulled her hands out of the cave. "Did you just bite me??" Dot asked, surprised more than anything. Malia glared, "Stay away from Clary, Dorothea." She ordered. "You're significantly weakened.. yet you're still trying to protect her." Dot noted. "Us Banes, don't give up on the people we love." Malia spoke, keeping eye contact with Dot.
"Dot, remember... remember when I got grounded when my mom realized that I went to see Simon's band? You brought me gelato from Little Italy to cheer me up. I will never forget that." Clary said, trying to convince Dot to help them. "It wasn't from Little Italy. It was from Rome." Dot smiled. "See? You were like a big sister to me. Dot, you have always had my back, no matter what."
Dot looked upset now, "Why did you stop looking for me?" She asked, visibly hurt. "Magnus couldn't feel your magic anymore. We thought Valentine had killed you." Malia managed to say. "No. He just experimented on me... and I'm sorry Malia, but you're next." Dot insisted.
"Dot, please, help me. We may not be able to go back to the way things were, but it doesn't have to be like this." Clary pleaded. Dot shook her head, "You don't understand. He will find us." She insisted.
"We will stay with Magnus, hide behind his wards. Please, Dot." Clary pleaded, "Please. You can come with us." Malia added, but Dot walked away, before they could say anything else. Malia sighed, "I should have stayed in Vegas." She mumbled weakly.
Clary still held Malia in her arms, as the warlock tried to hold herself up. The Fray had fear in her eyes, before she looked to Malia. "Magnus can help you.. I.. I'm sure of it." Clary spoke, worried by the Bane's condition. "I'll be okay, sweetheart. Don't worry." Malia managed to say.

Alec was laying on the bed, as Jocelyn, Izzy and Madi were sitting next to him.
"According to Luke, you need to stay near the surface. If you go too deep, nothing can bring you back." Jocelyn explained, as Alec nodded. "If you go too deep, by the Angel, Alec, I will kick your ass when you get back." Isabelle growled, as Madeline agreed, "Take that as a stern warning, big brother."
Alec ignored his worried sisters and looked to Jocelyn, "Give me the stone." He said. Jocelyn handed it to him, and Alec clenched it in his fists and concentrated. Quick shots of Alec and Jace together flashed by in his mind.

Dot freed the girls, before herself, Malia and Clary exited the ship, they overheard Gretel, a werewolf, pleading for her life. "Please don't kill me. I've obeyed the Accords. I'm part of Luke's pack. We don't hurt anyone. We're not like that."
Valentine and Jace stand by Gretel. "A wolf will say anything to go free, but she can never change what she is. You let her live, son, and she will kill again and again and again." Valentine hissed.
"Jace!" Clary called out.
"Clarissa, how nice of you to join us... I can't say the same about those filthy warlocks." Valentine growled, glaring at Malia and Dot. "Perhaps you can convince your brother to finish what he started."
Clary turned to Jace, "Jace, I need you to listen to me. Everything I said before, I was under a spell. Run!" She ordered.
Suddenly, Clary, Jace and Malia run away, but more of Valentine's men come up onto the deck. "Jonathan! There's no way out." Valentine insisted.
Jace started fighting the men with his blade, though he kept seeing flashes of Alec in his mind, from the effects of the stone. Jace defeated the men, and himself Clary and Malia, ran again.
Jace stopped, suddenly coughing violently. "Jace, are you okay?" Clary asked. Jace's nose began to bleed, alarming the girls. Clary looked at Dot, who nodded.
"Jonathan! Come back here! There's nowhere to run!"
More men and women of Valentine approached Clary, Malia and Jace, but before they could do anything, Dot let the wards around the ship down slightly so they could escape.
"Jace, we have to go now! Jace!" Clary called out before the trio stood on the edge of the ship. Malia took both Clary and Jace's hands, before they leapt off of the edge, crashing into the deep blue sea.
☠︎︎
Jocelyn and the Lightwood girls watch as blood dripped from Alec's nose. "A..Alec!?" Madi asked, her face paling over in worry. Alec then began seizing in the bed, as the stone dropped from his hands.
Isabelle and Madeline got to their feet, as they rushed to the side of the bed. "Alec!! Alec!!"
