46| Could it be a mirage?

Lucy tied up the very little belongings she had brought with her on this trip into a small cloth bag. She had slept surprisingly well considering how excited she was for the day to come.

Daedalium had served as the perfect resting place for the group of travelers. Sheltering them from anything outside that might have been lurking about the sand dunes.

The sun had just begun to rise up over the land as they all prepared to set off once more for the last stretch. Lucy looked to her left and saw her aunt standing roughly two feet away from her, giving her a tender smile. She turned to Eva, gazing at her with a sweet but questioning look.

"It's been twelve years and all I can see when I look at you is your mother. If she were to have had the chance, there is no doubt she would set off on this same journey. Now you, have her dream in the palm of your hand. Even the thought leaves me amazed." Eva spoke, crossing her arms softly and tilting her head slightly to the left.

Lucy left her bag laying on the sandstone, taking both Eva's hands in her's, she smiled brightly. "Soon it won't be just a dream anymore, Aunt Eva. I'm going to end the suffering, I have to!"

Eva let her lips part as her warm smile turned into a radiant grin. She could feel tears coating her eyes as she thought about how far the little Lucy she had remembered had gone. It truly did amaze her to no end. Proud was a word that didn't even begin to describe how she felt.

"I know you will, Sweetie. A pure soul like yours can never be matched, remember that. You and your mother were defiantly two of a kind." Eva slipped her hands from Lucy's before turning away and gathering what was left of her belongings.

Lucy watched as all of her friends confirmed they were once again ready for travel. Navigating themselves through the maze-like streets of the abandoned city, the made their way near the front gate.

Natsu walked close to Lucy, even though there was no sign of a threat he believed that there was no longer such a thing as being too careful when it came to her.

---------------

"Do you miss Fairy Tail, Levy?" Lucy questioned her petite blue haired friend as they wandered the sand dunes, searching for any sign of the Library they had traveled so long to find.

Levy gazed over at the sand, trying not to make eye contact. "I bet Gajeel is having such a hard time with me not there to do everything for him."

Lucy let out an amused laugh. Though she and Gajeel hadn't been on the best terms, she saw the relationship him and Levy had created and noticed right off the bat what was really going on.

Though she was sure Levy wouldn't admit to it but Lucy was positive Levy saw Gajeel as more than just a mere friend.

She kind of felt bad in a way. Even though she didn't force anyone to go with her on this trip. They were all missing out on their normal lives. It was clear that they missed home.

She had to admit, she missed her home with Gray as well. It was quite cozy and very much like the ideal home.

The sides of Lucy's mouth curled up into a faint smile. It wouldn't be long before they could go home. They would be reunited with the friends they had left behind.

"I miss Mira quite a lot. I'm really looking forward to seeing her smile again!" Lucy admitted, hoping to get some actual hints out of her little comrade.

She watched as Levy's lips broke into a bright grin. One that she wore very often, it suited her very well. Her hazelnut colored eyes were always smiling, even if she, herself wasn't. "I can't wait to see everyone again. It feels like its been forever! I hope we find what we are looking for. I think it will help change the rest of the members views on you. I want you to be fully excepted into our guild. Everyone should love you, just like we do."

Lucy felt her heart ache slightly. "Levy..."

"Aye, Luce." Lucy heard a voice say from her left.

She turned and found herself facing Gray, who had his hands deep in the pockets of his jeans and his shirt was long gone, leaving his toned chest completely bare in the beating sun. He was standing still, not looking over in her direction. His eyes glued on something in the distance.

She walked up beside him and gazed out in the area that had his attention, in hopes to spot what ever it was. She watched as Gray took on hand from his pocket and lifted it in the air, pointing on finger at a particular spot amongst the sea of endless sand.

At first she saw nothing, just what seemed like gas like fumes rising into the cloudless sky. But then, her eyes landed on something faint. Something that she might have never even noticed if Gray hadn't seen it first.

"You said it had sunk into the ground, right? Well that sure as hell looks like something that has been completely covered by sand." He added in, hoping what he had spotted was just what they were looking for.

"Did you find something?" Erza questioned, nearing the two who had fallen back from the group.

"I don't see anything! What the hell are you pointing at?" Natsu mumbled, coming up behind the Ice Mage to see directly what Gray wished to show the blonde girl.

His eyes widened as he too, saw the object. His Dragon Slayer magic had made all of his senses more keen and precise. Which meant he could also see far more than any of the others. He felt a smile come to his face. He wasn't sure if that was it. But he knew there was a very good chance.

"What does it look like to you, Natsu?" Levy asked, knowing he would have a better chance at desifering what it was at this distance than she or anyone else would.

"It looked like the very tip of a dome roof." He uttered, and Lucy felt her heart drop. This could finally be what she had been searching for. The key to the freedom for all Celestial Wizards.
