"Mama?" A small child's voice rang through the large open room.

He mother knelt down in front of her. She pushed back the child's golden hair, placing it behind her ears. The girls big brown eyes were full of question, even at such a young age she was already the spitting image of her mother.

But her mother's face plastered with a worried look. Her eyes haunted by something the seemed to be creeping up on her.

They stood in the study of their estate. Surrounded by the thousands of books that had been collected over the years they had resided there.

"Mama?" The little girl questioned yet again, waiting for a response.

"Hush, my darling." Her mother's elegant voice soothed her as she pulled up a hood over her daughters head, hiding her face from sight.

"What's the matter, Mama?" The girl whispered, this time. Thinking that is what her mother meant by "hush".

The woman looked into her daughters eyes, she had only just turned five. Not even old enough to defend herself. Tears welled up in her eyes as she took tiny hands into her own.

"Nothing is the matter, Darling. I will keep my little Lucy safe, I promise." She lifted her head up from looking at the oak floor boards.

"Where is Daddy?" Lucy asked.

"He's just getting a few things and then we are leaving okay?" Her mother smiled slightly.

Suddenly a man busted through the door. His blond hair was slicked back and his bushy mustache was combed down in a sophisticated manor. His eyes were full of panic.

"Jude!"

"Layla, we must leave." He spoke with a very serious tone.

Lucy looked up at him and smiled brightly, showing her new baby teeth. "Daddy!"

He knelt down and held out his arms. "Come here, Lucy. Daddy will carry you!"

Lucy ran to him, her tiny legs only taking her so fast. But when she reached him he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her up. His free hand stretched out to Layla.

"Come, Layla. They will reach this place soon enough. We must leave. I will not allow my family to perish here." He spoke as Layla reached out and took his hand in hers.

The three rushed out of the house. Lucy looking over her Jude's shoulder back at her home.

She did not know she would never see the pale yellow walls again as they got smaller and smaller in the distance. But she waved good bye to them, as she did whenever she wasn't inside them.

She looked back to her father. "Daddy, where are we going?"

"We are going to see your Aunt Evangeline." He replied, his breath was short from the pace he had chosen.

Jude and Layla ran as fast as they could, little Lucy sitting comfortably in Jude's arms.

-FLASH-

"HALT MAGE!" The family was surrounded.

Men in army uniforms pointed their sharpened sticks in their direction. Jude kept a tight grip in Lucy as he stood back to back with Layla.

"Layla do something." Jude whispered hastily, only loud enough for her to hear.

"I can't. Capricorn has my keys." Layla replied, telling him they were completely defenseless.

Jude closed his eyes for a moment, setting Lucy down so she was now standing on her own. She tilted her head in question but said nothing, keeping her hood up just like her mother told her.

"Lucy, stay right there. Please don't move. Daddy loves you." Jude spoke as his eyes opened and his expression changed.

"You have been running for ten years. Now we've finally got you. But sadly arrest is no longer an option." One of the guards laughed.

Layla's face held a horrified expression. She shook her head as tears welled in her eyes and her hand covered her mouth in shock. "Jude.." Her voice shook.

"I'm so sorry, Layla." Jude replied with shame, feeling a lump in his throat.

Just then the men plunged forward, jabbing their spears through the air and straight towards them. Lucy's parents hit the ground seconds later.

Lucy felt herself be lifted off the ground. Her eyes on her parents lying lifeless on the ground.

"NO! MOMMY, DADDY! LET ME GO, I WANT MY MOMMY!" She cried.

"AHH!" Lucy shot up with a jolt, she gazed around the darkened room.

Realizing she had only been sleeping, she let out a sigh. It may have been a dream but it was all too real.

The last memory of her parents and when it happened she had no idea what had actually occurred.

She sat in a bed that Lyon had made her in a spare room in Lamia Scale. Her heart was racing and her breath was heavy.

She allowed herself to relax considering she wasn't in any real danger.

"Are you alright?" A voice spoke from the shadows.

"Huh?" Lucy raised her eyebrow as she found she was not alone.

Loke stepped forward into the lighter part of the room so she could see him. "You've had more nightmares since you left the prison. Being in the real world must remind you of them."

Lucy was relieved, knowing it was just Loke. Anyone else and she might have strangled them. She nodded slightly and looked down at the sheets covering her legs.

"Mother didn't have her keys..."She whispered.

"I know. That is our biggest regret, Lucy. Your mother wished for Capricorn to keep the keys until you reached your Aunts. She thought that without them they had no proof she was a wizard." Loke sat down next to her, his voice was grim.

"None of us were there to protect your parents. Jude had no magic, and Layla was powerless." Loke grabbed her hand. " I know I've said it countless times but I'm so sorry we weren't there. It would all be different if we were."

"Loke, I don't blame you. I don't blame anyone. My mother thought keeping her keys hidden was the safest thing. There was nothing you could do. You don't have to be sorry. You got me out of prison. Which means I'm one step closer to being free." Lucy smiled up at him.

Loke's bottom lip trembled as he tried to hold back his emotions, his eyes coated with tears. "Lucy..."
