25| Dreams of a past time

Gray and Lucy sat at an outdoor restaurant, a unique local place Gray had heard about last time he was here on a mission. He had been wanting to truy it out, after hearing that their sea food was to die for.

He would have to agree, his roasted fish was quite mouth watering. Lucy was eating a chicken salad, said she wasn't too big on fish.

"You know, last night I had a dram about this town. It looked just like this, down to the street names." Lucy spoke up after Gray finished telling a childhood story involving Eva.

"Really, what was it about?" Gray questioned, raising his eyebrow slightly.

"I was here alone, I noticed my keys were dangling freely on my belt loop. I was walking through the crowd and when people saw them, they said nothing. Almost as if it was normal. I walked into a near by magic shop and spotted the key for my Celestial spirit Plue. I walked up to the strange old man and asked the price. I don't remember what it was but it was outrageous. After a little bargaining he lowered the price some. But I still came out of the store muttering. That was when I heard a few girls across the street squealing about how the famous "Salamander " had arrived." Lucy took a pause.

"Salamander? That's what people call Natsu!" Gray's voice was full of question.

Lucy held up her pointer finger, telling Gray to wait. "I squealed as well before running to pretty much the center of town. A sea of screaming girls protected a ,an with a stupid blue haircut and a tattood X above his right eyebrow. I felt like I was in a trance when I looked at him, overtaken by what felt like love. But then a man tripped through the crowd, shouting the name "Igneel" and a dorky smile across his face."

Gray furrowed his eyebrow. Knowing that Natsu was actually in her dream. "Psh."

"Suddenly I felt like I had control of my emotions, I no longer felt tranced. Natsu had broken a love spell the man had over me. Though the other girls weren't affected by Natsu's presence. The dream skipped ahead to me and Happy standing in the sand as a ship that had crashed up on the shore burned. "You see, Natsu here is a wizard too." Happy uttered to me before I watched Natsu walk straight through the flames, sucking them into his stomach. That's when I woke up." Lucy finished.

"Have you ever seen Natsu actually eat fire?" Gray questioned.

Lucy shook her head. "No one eats fire, Gray."

"Natsu does. That's strange, your dream just told you things about Natsu you didn't even know."

Lucy flashed him a bright grin. "Maybe I'm just incredibly special!"

A smaller smile found its way to Gray's lips. "That you are."

Natsu and Happy had ditched Erza as soon as they had the chance. The last thing they wanted was for Erza to drag them along with her to all the cake shops in town.

She was just fine on her own. Hargeon was flooded with people and as the sky got darker the lights from shops and street lights illuminated the roads.

Happy sat joyfully on Natsu's right shoulder. They strolled down the street together, looking for a food place that was all you can eat.

Natsu wouldn't settle for anything less. He knew there was one in town but he couldn't remember to save his life where it was located.

He turned the corner to walk down the main street but stopped in his tracks.

"What's wrong, Natsu?" Happy asked in his worried tone.

"Look! She's smiling! He's making her laugh!" It was then Happy saw what Natsu was seeing.

Lucy and Gray sat out on a patio with plates of what looked like seafood. Lucy was giggling with her hand over her mouth. Gray was leaned over the table slightly, putting his weight on his elbows.

"I really don't understand why you care so much about what Lucy is doing, Natsu." Happy uttered as he watched the two. They were standing very far away, Natsu could hear their voices through the mass crowd of people.

"I miss having her around. If she wasn't a Celestial Wizard, I'd be fine. But they have caused me too much pain already. I'm not going to lose anything else to the terrible magic. It's such a shame a girl like her got cursed by her own magic." Natsu replied.

"I don't think she is a threat, Natsu." Happy spoke.

Natsu shook his head. "They were responsible for Acnologia becoming a dragon. He is pure evil now. He was a Dragon Slayer and so am I. It's just too much of a risk."

Happy sighed. " Natsu, lets just go get something to eat."

Natsu nodded, waiting a moment as he watched Lucy. Then her eyes drifted over in his direction, seeing the pink hair out of the corner of her eye.

They locked eyes and Lucy's lips formed a faint and soft smile. Natsu looked at the ground before turning and walking away. Disappearing into the crowd, completely out of sight from Lucy.

Lucy looked back to Gray and frowned. "This is going to be a long few weeks, isn't it?"

Gray nodded. "Yeah, it may be a little tense between you two for a few days but I'm sure he'll get used to having you around."

"I hope so, we had such a great time when he didn't know. He saved my life and now he hates every bit of me. It's just so strange." She said in return.

"I've never been able to truly understand Natsu, he's very simple but he's very complicated." Gray tried to explain.

Lucy shrugged her shoulders. "I'd rather not think about it anymore tonight. Care to walk around town with me? I feel like sitting on the beach."

"Of course!" Gray smiled before standing up and pulling out Lucy's chair for her.
