24| The day is yours

"We will stay in this Inn for the night. We'll set out again in the morning. Sadly we can't all stay in the same room. Natsu, Happy and I will be in one. Eva and Levy, you seemed to get along nicely, so you will room together. Lucy and Gray, I assume since you live together this is no real change. The rest of the day is yours, just remember to get some sleep tonight." Erza spoke as the group stopped in front of a large old Victorian style mansion that had been turned into an Inn. The sun was still in the sky, yet it was late afternoon.

Natsu crossed his arms and gave his classic "Trying to act annoyed" look. "Don't you think Ice brain has had enough of her for awhile?"

Gray seemed a little taken back. He knew that Natsu could care less what he had had enough of. To him, that seemed like a childish attempt to get closer to Lucy and if Gray had any say in it, which he did now, Natsu wouldn't get anywhere near Lucy.

Even though she sounded slightly crazy and obsessed, Gray listened to Lisanna's words about how Natsu has been acting.

"Actually, Natsu. I quite enjoy Lucy's company." Gray flashed him a smile.

Natsu huffed and rolled his eyes. The entire train ride to Hargeon, after Erza knocked him out, Natsu kept muttering Lucy's name. Some times he said it with an angry and disgusted tone but others it was said with compassion and softness. Gray figured there was more going on in Natsu's mind than it seemed.

The group filed into the Inn, after getting assigned their room they all split off into the even smaller groups. Gray opened the door, holding it for Lucy as she went inside. All the rooms with more or one bed had been taken, the last of which by Erza and Natsu.

As she walked into the room, directly on her left was the door to the bathroom. Then, it opened up into the bedroom. One bed with two side tables on each side and a desk on the opposite walls. The last room is straight across, a small doorway opens up into the living room and kitchen.

"I'm going to miss my bed at home. I've grown quite attached to it." Lucy spoke, grazing her fingers over the queen sized beds midnight blue comforter.

"It will be right there waiting for you when we get back." Gray replied, locking the door behind him so no one would wander in.

"I suppose it will be, that we be a great treat after going all this way and finding the book." She smiled as she looked away.

"Lucy?" Gray started.

"Yes?" She questioned, turning her attention back to him.

"Will you allow me to take you to dinner?" He smirked, giving her a certain bold look.

"Are you asking me on a date?" She asked, raising her eyebrow up slightly.

Gray nodded. "In a sense, yes."

A small smile flashed across Lucy's face, one where no teeth showed at all. "Well I don't see what harm it could do."

"Great! Put on nice clothes." Gray smiled back before walking past her into the living room where he'd put his stuff and change.

Lucy smiled to herself as she went through her small bag of clothes. But  after a minute she realized she had no clothes for this sort of thing so she unlatched her key ring from its holster and held up Virgo's golden key..

"Gate of the Maiden, I open thee. Virgo." She spoke to herself.

Then right in front of her a pink haired woman stood before her, her hands once binded by chains she never took off. A black dress and a white apron covered her body. She bowed, with one arm across her chest. "Princess."

"I have a date, Virgo. Could you please get me something cute from the Spirit world?" Lucy clasped her hands together, begging sweetly.

"Of course, Princess. I will only be a moment." With that Virgo disappeared, going to search her world for clothes.

Lucy sat on the bed and looked around patiently. But not long after that did Virgo come back with a folded block of blue cloth.

It was a halter top and skirt with a gold heart and outlines on the top. A white bow took its place around her neck.

"Ooh, its so pretty!" Lucy chimed.

"Is it time for punishment now?" Virgo questioned intently.

Lucy waved her hand at the thought of punishment. "Just go back, Virgo."

"Yes, Princess." Virgo nodded before vanishing into thin air once more.

Lucy slipped back on her boots and brushed her hair into two low pigtails. Then plopping down on the bed, waiting for Gray to come back in the room. Which he did after a few more moments.

"Are you ready?" He questioned.

He was wearing a pair of dark pants and a white button up T- shirt. It was plain, but fit him very well. Lucy nodded and stood up as Gray walked toward the door to open it again for her.

She waited until the door was open to stroll out into the hallway. Gray caught up with her and the two ventured through the Inn to find the entrance. Soon they were out in the streets of Hargeon.

"Care to take my arm? Wouldn't want us to get separated now would we?" Gray smirked, putting his hand in his pocket making some sort of a handle with his arm.

Lucy snaked her amr around his and held onto him. They walk through the streets without much need for words. It was the first time Lucy had seen another city other than Magnolia. Because it was a whole nother city, there was a whole different atmposhere to explore.

Lucy pointed out the silly and cute things she saw in shop windows and Gray showed her all the tourist attractions on their way to dinner.
