Chapter 6

Hello. Sorry this hasn't been updated in a bit. I did mention this in a bit more detail in one of my posts on my account, but I've been going through some family issues and my mum and I have been going back and forth between multiple houses while I'm also juggling school and other things, so Chapters aren't the first thing on my mind. Sorry. But I've finished this Chapter, so here it is! I do not know when the next one will be out, it could be soon or it could be ages away, it depends on how my irl situation develops. This also hasnt been proof-read, so if there is any mistakes, whoops sorry! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Chapter! :D

- Sabre's POV -

He lay in bed, staring up at the roof.

The day had flown by like a stressful blur.

More arguments had occurred that Sabre had to step in for. One had even broken into a full-fledged fight where Sabre had to grab them and pull them apart for them to stop and listen to him.

Although sympathy had been given from Time and a lot of the Sky People, Sabre had gone to bed early.

But it was about 2am right that moment, and Sabre still hadn't fallen asleep.

He was grateful to the Sky People that they had all agreed to stop arguing for just the night so Sabre could sleep without worrying about their disagreements, but that wasn't the only thing on his mind that was keeping him up.

Sabre knew that Viodahl was still around. He had this gut feeling that Viodahl was still a massive threat.

He just couldn't tell when it would happen.

And that was terrifying.

Sabre sat up and reached for his back, feeling where his wings used to be. Small, feathery lumps still existed, which was where his wings had torn, but they were in no way ever going to be able to carry Sabre into the air.

He sighed and flopped back down on the bed. At the same time, a CREEEEAK noise came from downstairs.

Sabre froze, although trying to stay calm he couldn't stop his heart from pounding.
It's probably just me. The bed might be creaky, and it creaked when I lay back down.

But he also knew that it wasn't his bed.

Maybe it's Time? Or maybe one of the larger butterflies moved on the roof and it made a noise?

But another CREEEEAK that echoed through the house was accompanied with a horrible, sickening gut feeling.
Something was wrong. Whoever or whatever it was that was making a noise wasn't here to be friendly.

One name flashed through his mind. Viodahl?

No...it couldn't be. He had just found out that the butterflies were Sky People. There was no way Viodahl would be coming for him in just a few days.

But then he remembered that the Sky People had been with Sabre from the beginning, they just hadn't fully revealed themselves.

That would've been enough time for Viodahl.

Sabre bit back a terrified shriek that bubbled up instinctively, and instead forced himself to move.
He sat up, slowly, hoping that his earlier thought of the bed being creaky wasn't true and that it wouldn't alert anyone, and got out of bed.

He reached over to his sword, which had been sitting next to his bed for months with no real use. Now he hoped it was still sharp.

Sabre crept down the stairs, silently praying to Origin that he would see Viodahl before Viodahl saw him.

Then he noticed Time's door was open.
Was it just Time?

Or was Viodahl in Time's room?

That horrifying thought gave Sabre the confidence to walk over to the door, and carefully peek his head around to see inside.

His whole body both froze and started uncontrollably shaking when he spotted Viodahl looming over a sleeping Time, that same, menacing grin on his face the day when he had massacred huge numbers of the Sky People.

Sabre noticed that Viodahl's appearance had changed. He looked less like Darius now, and more like the figure that had always been depicted as the cursed being inside the forbidden book that Sabre had been warned about.

His eyes were a bright red, glowing softly but menacingly in the dim light. The glowing, red veins, that had coursed through his body when he first took over had faded, while his sharp wings had grown to be huge.

Fury propelled Sabre forward, all fear vanishing as he slammed into a surprised Viodahl.
Viodahl landed into Time's bedside cabinet with a loud bang and crash, which startled Time awake.

As Time fully woke up, Viodahl pushed back against Sabre, yelling incoherently as fury deafened the Sky King.

"You will never hurt one of my friends ever again!" Sabre lifted his sword over Viodahl.

Viodahl froze, and stared up at the sword. His eyes flickered back to Darius', which were full of terror.
Sabre also froze, the fury fading.

He couldn't kill Darius. What if Darius could still be freed?

While Sabre debated what to do, Viodahl flashed him a grin and shoved him back, wrapping a clawed hand around his throat.

Sabre's shriek was cut off as Viodahl started to crush his throat, the sword clattering to the ground.

Time leapt forward, knocking Viodahl off his feet.
Viodahl and Sabre both crashed to the ground as Viodahl kept his wicked grip on Sabre, but it loosened enough for Sabre to breathe.

Sabre watched as Time froze time, and tried to pry Viodahl's claws off of Sabre to free him.
But Viodahl broke free and squeezed, also catching Time's fingers in his grip.

Time glared at Viodahl and kicked him right in the face, blood instantly pouring from a now-broken nose.

Viodahl snarled and let go of Sabre, only to charge at Time.
Time froze him again, and leapt to the side just as Viodahl broke free, causing the being to crash into the cabinet behind where Time used to stand.

Sabre grabbed his sword and sliced at Viodahl as he was recovering, managing to catch one of his wings.

Viodahl screamed but grabbed the sword, ignoring the blood that poured from his hand as the blade cut into his hand.

Viodahl grinned as he crushed Sabre's sword in one hand, laughing at Sabre's shocked expression.

Viodahl tugged the sword from Sabre's grip, before throwing it at his head.
Sabre ducked, and got kicked in the stomach as he did so, landing beside his sword as he was thrown backwards.

When he looked up, Time was punching at Viodahl, also receiving some punches in return.

Sabre threw himself back into the battle, distracting Viodahl enough so Time could get a good hit in.

Viodahl stumbled back, although was able to dodge Sabre's lunge, hissing in pain and fury.

Sabre turned and watched Viodahl, who didn't seem to be making any attempt to jump back into the fray.

He's gotten...weaker? How is that possible? I thought that he would get stronger over time.

"Fools! I will destroy you and this silly world!" Viodahl screeched.

Time and Sabre glared at him, both squaring up and preparing for another round of the fight.

But, to both their surprise, Viodahl whirled around and smashed through Time's window, disappearing into the night with a final cry about revenge.

Sabre stared after him, shocked.
What had happened to Viodahl?! From even the short time Sabre had known him, and through the stories he'd been told, he didn't expect Viodahl to even think of doing such a thing! Retreating?!

Time shook off his surprise and turned to Sabre.
"Are you alright?" He asked, before smiling gratefully, "Thank you for saving me."

"It's no problem." Sabre grinned at Time, but couldn't ignore the nervousness eating at him.

"Are you okay?" Time asked again, stepping closer to Sabre.

"I'm alright. Just worried. If Viodahl is in this world..." Sabre trailed off, the images of death and destruction of his world flashing in his mind.

Time gave him a worried look. "We can fight him off. We defeated him, just the two of us. If we get the Leaders, and/or the Colourless Guards, we can easily stop him!" Time grinned, excited.

Sabre stared at him silently. Although Time might be right, Sabre couldn't shake that feeling of unease. Yes, it had been easy. But it hadn't been that easy before.
Something was up. Maybe Viodahl was hiding something? Leading them into a trap? Or had something even more powerful than Viodahl weakened him?

Sabre glanced outside, where the Sky People had stirred. They had watched Viodahl leave, and Sabre could hear their hushed but confused and worried voices, all wondering the same thing as Sabre:

Why was Viodahl so weak?

Yay Chapter 6!

Also more Sabre backstory, yipppee!
This story seems to be moving along quickly, so it might not have a lot of Chapters at this rate. But who knows? I'm just writing the story, not actually planning it out, so it's all up to how the flow goes haha

Anyway, have a good day/night and stay safe!! :D
