Chapter Five.
After one last class and school was finally over, I walked over to my locker and packed all the stuff I'll need for tonight homework.
After the whole thing with Kaden at lunch, nothing but awkward silence was there and what makes it worse, Kaden was practically watching me most of the time like a freaking watch dog or something! What the hell is up with him? He's acting so weird.
I closed my locker and saw Kaden leaning against the locker next to mine.
I jumped and my hand flew to my chest, "Jesus, what is up with people scaring me when I close my locker?" I asked myself.
He chuckled, "Sorry about that." he said, leaning up from the locker. "Ready?"
My eyebrows forward together, "Ready for what?"
"To go home? Where else?" he asked.
A girl with brown hair and blonde highlights name Jenny that I have a few classes walked by and flirty smiled at Kaden and said as she walked passed, "Hey Kaden."
Kaden nodded once, "Hey."
Feeling jealous, I made my way towards the stair, but made sure my shoulder bumped into his. Kaden chuckled behind his closed mouth and caught up with me.
"Jealous?"
I snorted and rolled my eyes, "Hardly. Don't get such a big head," I said as I walked down the staircase and he followed.
He smirked, "Whatever you say, Jesse. So about Friday-."
"What?" I asked, arching an eyebrow, "Are you going to tell me now you change your mind about going with me and Logan? Cause if you are, I completely understand."
He snorted, "No, I was going to ask if we're going to get a funnel cake and share like we always do."
I frowned, "Oh. Um, sure. I guess."
Why can't I just let the words 'I'm not going with you!' out my mouth? Sure, I love that he wants to go this year with me, but Logan already asked me for God sakes! How am I going to explain this to Logan now? Maybe I won't tell him...
No, that'll be messed up of me not to do. I sighed to myself, feeling a headache coming on.
"You okay?" Kaden asked when we walked out of school and walked over to the parking lot.
I nodded and looked at the ground, "Yeah." but my voice gave it away I was a little sad.
Kaden my friend and is it wrong of me to choose a guy I just started to talk to over the summer over Kaden, someone I been friends with ever since I was seven?
Suddenly, Kaden dropped his book bag and before I could stop him, he threw me over his shoulder and spin around in a circle and my book bag and purse fell off my shoulder.
"Kaden!" I yelled in shock, but I started giggling. "What are you doing? Ow." I said as I continued to giggled, but I had to readjust myself on his shoulder since my stomach was laying uncomfortably on his shoulder.
"Tell me why you upset." Kaden said, stopping. I looked around and felt my cheeks heat up as I realized people were watching.
"Put me down," I told him. "People are watching."
I felt him shrugged, "I don't care. Let them."
"But Kaden-"
"Tell me why," he said. "And maybe I'll put you down."
"Maybe?" I said in disbelief. "No maybe, but you will.."
Again, he shrugged, "I could easily leave my car here and I'll walk us home like this. Don't think I won't, Jesse. You weigh nothing more than an empty box to me."
My cheek got more red, "I-I'm not that skinny," I stuttered.
He chuckled, "No offence, Jesse, but yes you are. You should gain some weight."
I rolled my eyes and hit his back, but all I hit was muscle. I knew he was only trying to make me feel better. I wasn't skinny like most of the girls here, but I wasn't fat either. I was in the middle I guess.
"Put me down, Kaden. Please." I said in an innocent voice.
"Tell me why and I wil.," he said casually.
I huffed, but told him, "I...I don't want to go to the fair with two people. I want to go with one. I want to go with you, but I also want to go with Logan."
He bent down and picked our book bags and walked over to his car, "Well, like I said. You're going with the both of us but you could always pick me," he said, chuckling.
"But I already told Logan I'll go with him." I pointed out. "I can't just cancel."
We made it to his car and he put our book bags next to his car and set me down on the hood of his car. I couldn't help the feeling of my heart squeeze up in my heart at how the sun kissed his skin and his beautiful hazel eyes having some blue around his pupil...
Wait what! Blue?
My mouth opened slightly as I leaned in a little to his face and looked right in his eyes. Yup, there was blue there in both eyes. What the heck? His eyes never had a splash of blue that also looked a little purple. The color actually looked like his father eye color.
"What?" Kaden questioned.
"Your eyes. There's blue in them." I told him, never taking my eyes off his.
His eyes widen, "What?" he said, going over to the side view mirror and looking at his eyes. "Damnit! They're already starting to change!" he said and it sounded like he said it more to himself.
I jumped off the hood and walked up to him, "'What's already starting to happen?" I asked.
He shook his head, "N-nothing!" he said, opening the driver side door and jumping in.
What's up with the mood swings? I thought. Knowing Kaden enough to know he won't tell me, I decided to just press about it later. Eyes don't change from a dominating color like brown to blue. His father had blue eyes, but for the last eighteen years Kaden eyes been brown. I highly doubt they can turn blue just like that.
I walked over to our bags and grabbed them as I went over to the passenger door and opened the door. I threw the bags in the back as I got in and closed the door. I looked at Kaden and he had one hand on the steering wheel tightly.
"Are you alright?" I asked, reaching out to touch his hand that was on the wheel. When my hand touched his, I was surprised to feel how heated his skin felt. My hands weren't cold since it was still warm out, so it was him.
Kaden turned his hand around and entwined our fingers. I gasped at how quickly he did it though. He started to squeeze my hand and I winced.
"Ow Kaden, let go!" I said, trying to snatch my hand back from him.
Kaden hesitated, but soften his hand and loosen his fingers, "Sorry," he said blankly as he started his car up and quickly drove out of the lot he was in and out of the lane in fast speed.
I grabbed the handle that was above the window and spoke when he made it to a stop sign, "Jeez, Kaden! Trying to kill us?"
He chuckled behind a closed mouth as he looked out straight ahead, "Don't be paranoid," he said and drove away from the school. He was driving so fast down the streets, I was afraid we were going to be stopped by a cop. I kept looked at my right to my left to look out for any cops. "So, how was your day?" Kaden asked as if he wasn't speeding down the streets.
"Um," I said, looking at him, the rode, and then him again. "Fine...I guess. Can you slow down?"
Switching his hand on the wheel, he reached over and grabbed my seat belt and moved it across my chest and buckled me, "Better?"
I rolled my eyes, "Ha-ha," I faked laugh. "Seriously, Kaden, slow-"
I didn't get to finish when he made it to a red light and I felt myself leaned forward a little when he made a sudden stop. I took in a sharp breath and pushed my hair back since it got in my way.
"Jesus!" I screeched. I scowled at him, "I'm never driving with you again."
He chuckled, "Don't be such a wuss."
"Don't be such a jerk."
He looked at me, "You know you wouldn't love me any other way."
I pursed my lips at him, "You're insane."
He smirked, "Only around you," he said and before I could look, he speeded away.
Once we made it to our street, he quickly park and turned off the car. I grabbed my book bag, purse and got out the car quicker before Kaden could say something. I'm really annoyed with him right now! I asked him to do something and I should have known better to know he wouldn't listen!
"Jesse, where are you going?" Kaden asked when he got out of his car.
"Where do you think?" I said in a 'duh' way. "Home."
He closed his door, "Okay." he said and I heard him jog up behind me. "What are we going to do?"
I crossed my arms over my chest, "Oh now you want to hang out with me. You were hiding from me all last weekend and-."
He grabbed my arm, "I was not hiding. I was just...sick."
"Kaden, I'm not stupid. I hardly doubt that." I said and snatched my arm out of his grip. I took my keys out my pursed and unlocked my front door. "Hey mom," I said when I saw her at the couch.
"Hey sweetie-well, looks who's finally back around," she chuckled as she got up from the couch and gave Kaden a hug.
"Hey Sarah, pretty as ever," Kaden said.
My mom chuckled, "Same old Kaden."
"Yup, just better," he winked and I rolled my eyes.
I went over to the steps and walked up them quickly, and I heard Kaden follow behind. When I made it to my room, I threw my stuff next to my desk. Kaden went over to my bed and lay down. He grabbed my remote and turned on the TV.
"Yeah, just lay there like you own my room." I sarcastically said as I sat down next to him.
"Oh, I will." he grinned as he looked for something to watch.
I snatched the remote out of his hand, "Um, no you won't. My room, my TV."
He propped himself up with one elbow, "Actually, it's your mom and dad room and TV since they pay the bills. You're just sleeping in here."
Since I didn't have a comeback for that, I said, "Don't get smart with me."
He held out his hand, "Remote, please."
I grin and turned around to face the TV, "Nope.", I said, looking through the channels.
Next thing I know, I'm being tackled to the ground. I squealed as my back hit the ground and Kaden got on top of me and sat on my hips.
I held the remote against my chest with both hands, "You don't control what we watch! I do," I said stubbornly.
He held out one hand, "I want that remote, Jesse."
I shook my hand, "No! It's mine," I said. The memory of us when we we're little and when he stole my Barbie came up in my thoughts. I chuckled, "I know, how about this. I dare you to kiss me," I said, chuckling at how I played him nine years ago. Ah, those were the days.
He grimace at me, "You think you're so funny, don't you?"
I nodded, "Yes. Yes I do."
"Fine," he said. Before I could ask what he meant, he put one hand beside my head and leaned down and his lips found mine. I took in a sharp take of breath and my eyes bulged out of my freaking skull!
Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God...I kept repeating in my head. Kaden is not really just kissing me! I was seriously just playing with him! I never meant for him to kiss me!
I know I shouldn't, but I closed my eyes. He pressed his lips down on my harder and my head tilt backwards as I kissed him back. Jeez, I have been kissed before, but damn, Kaden beat them all! I have always imagined what it would be like to kiss Kaden, but I never really thought he would! It felt like my whole body was aching for him to pressed his body close to mine and all bad thoughts I should not be having right now about my best friend popped up in my head.
Kaden right hand came up to my cheek and caressed it. Our breathing gone heavy and I swear, I did not want to stop. I opened my mouth a little, wanting more. I felt Kaden tongue slip into mine and I wrapped one hand around the back of his neck.
I felt a moan build up my chest and came out my mouth. Suddenly, Kaden warm body and lips left mine. I opened my eyes and saw the scared, yet confused look on his face.
"Um," he said, running his hand threw his hair. "I-I have to go," he said, getting up. He quickly walked over to my door and opened. He closed the door as he left. I heard his footsteps go down the hall and down the steps. I heard him open the door and close it.
I laid there, in total shock. What have I just done?
*
I'm such an idiot, I thought to myself a few hours later.
I was in the dining room eating with my family, but my mind was on other places. I couldn't stop thinking of the make out session I had with Kaden in my bedroom a few hours ago. Jeez, I'm an idiot.
Why'd I even kiss him? Oh right, because he's one hell of a kisser and many girls in school know this and now I do. Why'd I have to open my mouth and tease him? Never in my life had I thought he would actually kiss me. I have always imagined what his lips would feel like and damn, was it hot.
God, I'm crushing on my best friend, not good,
After dinner, I walked back up to my room. I check my phone and texted Melanie and Logan back, telling them goodnight. I changed out of my jeans and top into some comfy pajama shorts and a tank top. I lay down on my bed, trying hard not to look at the spot where I laid a few hours ago with Kaden on top of me.
How am I going to be able to look at him the same way? I have always wanted him to kiss me, but now that he did...I don't know.
Maybe I could just act like it never happened. Yes, that's what I'll do. I'll just avoid it.

Tap, tap, tap
I woke up in the middle of the night. I looked at my clock to see it was one in the morning. What the hell was the noise? It could have just been a bird and it must have flown away when it saw me jump up.
I lay back down on my bed, ready to go back to sleep.
"Jesse, wake up," I heard a familiar voice say from my window.
My eyes opened again and I jumped. I leaned up and looked out my window to see Kaden. I opened my window slowly so I wouldn't wake my parents and glared at him.
"What are you doing? Have you gone completely mad?" I whispered, but hissed it. He was kneeling on the my porch hood and from his weigh, it could easily break since it's thin plastic!
My heart felt like it skipped a beat as the moon light shown on him and he looked like a God.
He chuckled, "Move aside."
"Why?" I hissed.
"So I could come in," he said in a 'duh' way.
I debated in my head weather that was a good idea or not, but I saw that he was serious. I sighed, "If you wake my parents up, I swear!" I warned as I got up from my bed.
He put one leg in first and his whole body slid in after. He sat on the edge of my bed.
"I doubt you'll do anything from risking waking your parents," he said, taking off his sneakers.
"What in God's name are you doing?" I questioned, grabbing one of his shoes.
"I'm sleeping over," he said as he took of his leather coat.
I arched an eyebrow, "What?"
He shrugged, "What? We used to have sleepovers when we were younger."
"Yeah, before you turned fourteen and my dad didn't want you in the same room as me when your hormones picked up." I said. "You have to leave, Kaden."
He stood in front of me, "I promise to leave before they wake up."
"No," I said. "Leave now. I don't want my parents coming in here and finding you. You know my daddy has a shot gun under his bed."
He chuckled, "I'm not afraid of being caught."
"Well, I am! Now leave." I hissed again.
"No.", he said, lying down on my bed on his side since my bed as a twin size. "We're not going to get caught, I promise. I'll leave before six."
I crossed my arms over my chest, "Why did you even come over here? Why do you want to sleep over?"
He shrugged, "Just missed us being us. I mean, we we're so close when we we're little. I missed us having sleep overs. Just thought it would be nice."
"Kaden, you can't stay. I'm sorry," I said.
He arched an eyebrow, "Because of what happen earlier?"
I felt my cheek burn up and I looked away, "Yes.", I mumbled. I thought I'll be able to avoid that, but I guess I was wrong.
Kaden was quite for a minute before speaking, "How about we agree it never happened? We just think we were in here the whole time watching MTV's True Life and you nagged about how Mr. Jameson gave you too much math homework?"
I looked back him and gave him a small smile, "It's like you read my mind."
He grinned, "I just know you well. Now, may I sleep over?"
I sighed, but smiled bigger, "As long as you make sure you wake up at six or you're going to have to deal with my daddy and you know how he is with boys and he wouldn't make an exception for you."
He crossed his finger over his chest, "Cross my heart and hope to die."
I laid down back on my bed, but for some reason, it felt like I didn't need a blanket. Kaden felt like own personal heater next to me.
