Chapter 3: A whole new world

-Grief is the price we pay for love-
~Queen Elizabeth II

I had spent nearly the whole week with my 'family' we did everything together, I had learnt that Blair was a lot like my younger brother from my first life, who I dearly missed. I also began to wonder what had made this girl so miserable? Her life was practically perfect.

It was late Friday evening, and I was packing up the rest of her things, ready to take to the college tomorrow. Darren was at work, and Clara was making dinner. Blair was sat on the bed, playing on his phone. "You know, I might actually miss you, sis," Blair said putting his phone down. "Yeah, I might miss you too." I laughed, taping a box up. "You'll come back and visit, right?" He asked. "Course." I sighed. I had only spent a week here, but it felt so homely. "That's it." I smiled, looking at all of the boxes. "Scarlett, Blair, dinners ready!" Clara yelled. "Perfect timing!" Blair smirked, rushing off towards the kitchen.

I got out of the car and looked up at the huge college. Darren and Clara were pulling out all of the boxes, and Blair was just getting out the car. "This is it, sis, you're going to live your dream," Blair said, hugging me. "I am." I smiled. "Gosh Scar I don't think I realised how much stuff you had!" Darren exclaimed. I helped them pick up the boxes, and we walked to reception.

"Hello, what's your name?" The woman asked. "Scarlett Ripley," I replied. Your dorm is in the North block, and your dorm number is 28." She smiled handing me a key. "Thank you." We followed her directions and took the lift up to the second floor. "I wish I could go here!" Blair sighed as we passed many doors. "Maybe one day you will," Clara said. I slid the key into the lock, and we walked in. The room was quite small, but it was nice, and to my surprise, there were two beds. "Awesome you get a roommate," Blair exclaimed, dropping a box on the floor. "I wonder who it will be," I said. Clara shrugged and put another box down, as did Darren. "Well, we will leave you to unpack honey." Darren smiled, pulling me in for a hug. "I'm going to miss you Scar!" Clara said, tears welling up in her eyes. "I will be back before you know it." I smiled, pulling Clara and Blair into the hug as well. "I will be expecting a phone call every day!" Clara laughed. "Bye honey," Darren said. "Don't forget, we are only one call away!" Clara smiles. "Actually we are 11 miles away." Blair stayed. We all laughed. They all said goodbye and left.

And just like that, I was left alone. I started by unpacking all of my clothes and hung them up in the wardrobe. Suddenly the door opened, and in walked a curly brown-haired girl. "Oh hey, you must be my roommate!" She exclaimed, quickly hugging me and I awkwardly hugged her back. "Your Scarlett Ripley right?" She asked, full of energy. "Yep, that's me." I smiled. "Awesome, I'm Morgan Johnston." She grinned. "Where's all your stuff?" I asked. "Oh it's all in the car, I wanted to meet my roommate first!" She explained. "Ok?" I laughed. "I will be back in a few minutes!" She said turning towards the door. Woah, she was not what I expected.

She was incredibly energetic. She made me feel tired just standing next to her. I continued to unpack, and a few minutes later, she returned with two suitcases and a box. "Need any help?" I laughed, as she threw everything down. "I think I'm ok thanks." She laughed. "So Scarlett, what's your story?" She asked, unzipping her suitcase. "Um, what do you mean?" I replied. "Well, tell me about yourself." She exclaimed. "Oh ok, well I have a younger brother called Blair, and I'm good at football," I answered. "Oh that's cool, are you on the football team?" She questioned. "Yeah, I'm the captain." I smiled. "That's awesome, in case you wanted to know, I have 2 older brothers called Luca and Josh, and a younger sister called Marley." She stated. I nodded. "So, what's your thing?" I asked. "I'm majoring in drama." She smiled. We carried on talking, but I had to remind myself, not to get close to her. She finally finished unpacking, and we decided to go and have a look around.

"Let's go get our time tables!" She grinned, dragging me along after her. We rounded the corner, and of course, she would be there. Yay. "Oh hey Scarlett, didn't know I would be seeing you so soon." She said. I ignored her and begun to walk away with Morgan when she yanked me back. She was with 2 girls, and three boys. "Hey! Leave him alone!" Morgan shouted. "Oh, you want me to leave her alone?" She sneered, digging her nails into my wrist. I winced and tried to get out of her grip.

That was it, no one messes with me. I thought about punching her, but maybe that was a bit extreme considering my past. I sharply pulled my arm away but stood face to face with her. My eyes shot daggers at her. "Oh the captain is angry, wouldn't want to get in a fight would you now?" She smirked.

The girls behind her giggled, and Morgan tugged my other wrist, pulling me away from her. I glanced back, to see one of the boys looking at me, a flash of sadness struck his eyes, but he quickly turned away.

"Who's that bitch?" Morgan asked. "She's the captain of the other football team." I sighed. "She seems awful, did she hurt you?" Morgan asked, looking at my arm. "It's nothing, I'll be fine." I smiled. "Now come on, let's go get our time tables!" I laughed.

We walked to reception, which was now full of people. "Excuse me, can we get our time tables to please?" Morgan said. "Names?" The woman said. "I'm Scarlett Ripley and this is Morgan Johnston." She nodded handing us our time tables. "Thanks." We both replied. "Scarlett?" I heard Chloe shout. She ran towards me and pulled me into a crushing hug. "Hey." I laughed pulling away. "Who's this?" Chloe asked pointing to Morgan. "This is Morgan, she's my roommate." Chloe nodded, looking around the room. "It's nice to meet you, Morgan." She smiled. "So let's see your time table!" She exclaimed.

I showed her mine, but it seemed that we had none of the same lessons together. "That's so annoying!" She groaned. "Hey, we have mostly got the same lessons!" Morgan smiled. "Yeah, we have!" I said looking at her time table. "Well I'm gonna go check out my room, I'll see you later," Chloe said walking away. I waved her goodbye, and Morgan and I headed off to go and get some food. We spent all day together, getting to know each other.

It was time to go to bed, but I didn't feel tired, I felt far from it. Most of the night, I layed awake, thinking about why this girl hated her life so much, to me it seemed almost perfect, she had a loving family, lots of friends and she was going to a great school. She had everything going for her. To be honest, I was even jealous, knowing that the real me would never be able to live like this, and I missed my first life dearly. Her life reminded me of mine in a way, everything was going perfect for me too until the fateful day that changed everything. I often found myself thinking about what made me deserve this, but then I remembered I killed her.
