Dipper pov

It's been a couple of days. Well his ball was tonight. He had a step sister named Pacifica. Why she was named after an ocean, I have no understanding why. Bill was getting ready because it was noon and he really didn't want to go. His dad walked into the room with a few servants holding nets and sticks with curved poles and loops.

"We're going to be moving her to the ball room."
The king said. The servants opened a lid by pushing a button. One stood on a ladder sticking the net in. I move away as it came closer to me. A loop was brought down. I start swimming through it when it tighten around my waist. I thrash around hissing. I rubbed against my scales. I hissed in pain. Another thing tightened around my neck right under my gill. I screamed and scratched at it in pain. The flap of my fin was forced up. I couldn't breath. I coughed and pulled at it.
"Whoa! Hold on loosen the one on her neck!"

The thing on my neck became loose and I pulled it out from under my gills. I pull my head through it and slipped out of the loop.
Bill took off his shirt and came to the glass.

"Come here pine tree I'll catch you."
I go to the surface and take a breath before slipping out. Hangover the edge and drop into Bills arms. His body was so warm. It made me blush.
He placed me in a small rectangular tank full of water.
The servants took me out of the room. The hall was pretty. Different statues and paintings.
We got to this really big room. Pacifica was pointing things out. The entire room was circular. And the wall was a large tank. Cora and fake sea weed. A few fish. I was dumped in.  I swim around taking in my new surroundings.
"What are you wearing?" Pacifica came up to me "never mind here put these on."

She tossed a new white top in and some jewelry.
I put the jewelry on my tail a pearl necklace around my neck and hid in the sea weed to switch my tops.
"You look better."
She said the walked away from me. I was fed for tonight.
Humans started to filled the room. Some children others adults.

(Time skip)

"So pretty!" Children chatted as I swam around. Bill was dancing with ladies talking to them. He didn't seem that interested though.
He went to his father and whispered in his ear.
Bill walked my way.
"Hey pine tree."

"Hey Bill. How's the party?"

"I'm getting a little bored. can you sing?"

"If I want to. Why ask?"

He gave me puppy eyes.
"Bill you know about my curse. No I can't what if I hurt someone."

"You won't."

"My singing is more effective on males and children. I can't do that. I'm not good in front of crowds."

"Please just this once."
I crossed my arms "I'll give you a surprise tomorrow."

I groan "alright fine."
He smiles at me.
I swim around a bit.
(Play music up top)
" Up here away in the dark! I see the stars through me." I started
"Tired mechanical hearts. Beats through the songs an disappears. Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me. Somebody make me feel the light and SHATTER ME!"

I continue to sing while swimming around. I could feel people staring. Bill took a violin and was playing along. I finished singing people clapped. I blush and smile.

It was around midnight from what I could tell. Everyone was leaving. Bill came to me.
"Your voice is amazing."

"That's why it's a curse."

"Son why don't you go take a bath." The king said with a wink. Bill smiled.
"Come on pine tree."
The lid was lifted up I take a breath and crawl out into Bills arms.
He took me back into the tank room. He went up the ladder letting me slip in.  I look at him my head above water.
"I'm guessing you didn't find anyone you like."

He shakes his head "I have someone in mind but I don't know if she likes me back. Night pine tree."
He closed the lid and left the room.
I felt..... weird. Like my heart was broken. I sink to the bottom and curled my tail around.
Tears came out of my eyes.
I love him.
