Right away, it's clear that Kate has a lot to prove, making her a solid candidate for a redemption arc. The prologue starts off strong and immediately pulls readers into the story. I really liked the characters and the universe that was presented from the very beginning.

The worldbuilding is absolutely amazing in this book, with strong lore and stronger characters who were relatable while still possessing magic and supernatural gifts. The book is extremely well-written and the plot is very compelling.

You can't help but cheer Kate on as she tries to prove her worth after the humiliation of getting captured and needing to be rescued despite her position of power. She has a strong motive to get her dignity back and show the world what she's made of.
