Chapter Five: Past Scars

{Paige's POV}— I was brushing my hair and tying it into a braid.

After yesterday, I couldn't really sleep last night. I couldn't get Lucifer's wings out of my mind. When we first met, they were angelic.

I sighed deeply.

"Detective."

I nearly jumped off my bed and turned to see Lucifer standing in the doorway.

"Wha- don't scare me like that," I breathed, resting my hand over my chest.

"Apologies but I'm going to be out for a while," he said. I blinked, "guess that makes two of us."

He raised an eyebrow, "and where do you plan on going?" "I'm going to hang out with a few buddies from the police station," I said, "what about you?"

"I'm going to a club," he stated and I stared at him like had just grown a second head.

He chuckled at the look on my face, "what, the Devil can't go to a club?" "I cannot imagine the Devil owning a club!" I said, throwing my hands up.

He laughed. I huffed as I got up. I grabbed a coat and I looked at him, "do you need a ride?"

"Thank you but no. The club isn't far." He replied, "have fun with your buddies."

'I'll try,' I thought but I nodded before I walked out of the apartment. I got into my car and looked at my phone. I was meeting up with George, Iris Burns, Rex Lincoln, Sydney Dawson, Jack Walker and Aurora Brown.

Deciding to ignore the discomfort creeping up on me, I sighed softly before I started the car and started driving.

{Lucifier's POV}— I watched Paige's car leave before I went outside.

I huffed softly before I decided to go over to a fancy black car that was parked nearby. Climbing into it, I turned on the engine before I started driving.

I wasn't lying when I told Paige that the club, Lux, wasn't far. It was only one or two miles away from the apartment complex.

I parked into a special spot before I climbed out. I walked past the security guard.

There was one particular secret that I had kept from Paige. I owned Lux.

It was my personal life.

I chuckled as the sounds of music and cheering filled my ears. I smirked as I walked over to the bar.

"Glad to see you, boss," a bartender chuckled. She smiled at me. She was a redhead with alarmingly bright blue eyes.

"Never thought you would miss me, Elemiah," I said, amused. She rolled her eyes at me and gave me a bottle of whiskey.

Elemiah was a Fallen Angel who had quickly rose up through the ranks and I had chosen her as my first warrior.

"So... I heard you ran into Michael all while becoming friends with a mere mortal," she said, propping herself up on her elbows. I huffed, "you would like her; she's stubborn to a point."

Elemiah giggled, "I would be delighted to meet her." I chuckled as I gulped down the whiskey.

"Quite the setup you have here," a familiar voice said and Elemiah narrowed her eyes. She reached for her sword but I lifted my hand to stop her.

I turned to see Amenadiel standing in his angelic attire, his midnight black angel wings folded against his back.

"Hello to you too, brother," I said calmly with a small smile. Before my Fall, Amenadiel was the only Angel I seemed to trust.

And he was the first to speak up for me when I was forced from Heaven.

"Father please!" Amenadiel pleaded as he shoved past my brothers and sisters.

He was gripping my neck as I clawed at his wrist.

"They'll turn against you," I snarled through gritted teeth as I glared at Father. He glared back at me.

"We shall see, Samael," he said coldly before he let me go.

I exhale sharply and looked back at Amenadiel, "what brings you here?" "Aside from the urge to try and bring you back to Heaven, I have some news you may want to hear," he sighed, "it's about Gabriel."

I narrowed my eyes, "what is he doing this time?" "I assume Michael told you then?" "No. One of my soldiers told me after I caught him possessing a human."

Amenadiel raised an eyebrow, "well it seems you weren't alone in capturing this Fallen Angel of yours, Samael."

I gripped the bottle, hearing it crack under my sudden grip.

I glared at him, bitter and irritated, "I told you not to call me that."

Amenadiel stared at me, looking bewildered. I closed my eyes as I let out a deep sigh and turned away from him. Elemiah frowned at him.

Amenadiel sighed softly before he walked up beside me. "I have been watching over this human friend of yours since you met her," he said, "I honestly assumed that you didn't like mortals. What makes this one so special?"

"That is for me to know," I chuckled, "but I can imagine the theories that most Angels would want to give."

Amenadiel chuckled softly as he sat beside me, "well... I can assume that she'll certainly have an impact on both Angels and Demons."

I chuckled softly as I took a sip of the whiskey.

Demons, maybe. Angels? Absolutely.

{Paige's POV}— I walked into the diner and saw George, Aurora Morgan, Jack Fauster, Harriet Parker and Cassidy Wolfe.

"Hey Paigey!" Harriet smiled. "Hey," I chuckled as I sat between her and Jack, "sorry if I kept you lot waiting."

"Not at all," Cassidy chuckled, "Georgie here was telling us about your new partner friend who helped capture Rudy the other day."

I blushed and glared at George who smiled sheepishly.

"He's not my new partner," I huffed, "he's just someone I met yesterday." "Riiiight," Aurora chuckled and I grumbled as the waitress gave us our drinks.

"So what's his name?" Harriet asked curiously. I almost paused at the question but quickly said, "Lucifer Morningstar."

"Like the Devil?" Cassidy said, raising an eyebrow, "that's odd."

"Oh come on, Cass. A lot of people can have names like that. Heck, I heard someone actually has the name Beelzebub," Jack chuckled. Harriet and Aurora giggled.

George snickered as I shook my head with amusement. Soon, we ordered food and continued talking about our day.

"So how's the family doing, Cass?" Jack asked. "They're doing well," she chuckled, "my mom is feeling better after the surgery she had last week. And my brothers are as practical as ever."

Harriet chuckled, "I can imagine that." Cassidy smiled, "but they're behaving for Mom's sake."

"Well I'm glad your mom is feeling better," I smiled. "Thank you," she replied.

I nodded as I took a bite out of my burger.

"How have you been, Paigey?" Harriet asked. "I'm fine," I replied with a smile.

George frowned in worry, "you sure?" I look at him and nodded.

I really was fine. Spending time with him and the others took a lot of things off of my mind.

I smiled reassuringly and I looked at the clock. It was 8:32 PM.

"Well I should get ready to head to the store," I said. "Aww, do you have to?" Harriet asked with a pout.

"Yes. You know my dogs and my cats need food," I chuckled as I finished my soda. I asked for a to-go bag and George grumbled softly.

"But... I enjoyed this a lot," I smiled. George smiled, "I'm glad."

"Thanks, you guys," I said. "Anytime," Aurora giggled. I paid for my food and waved bye to them as I walked to my car. I put my hand on the car door and froze as I felt a shiver run down my spine.

I turned and saw a man standing a few yards away. He was the same age as Lucifer. He had dusty brown hair and light brown eyes.

But the most familiar part of him was the pure white wings that were unfolded on both sides.

I stared at him in surprise but he was frowning at me. I took a step back.

"Paige?" I nearly jumped and looked to see Jack who had a concerned look on his face. "You okay?" He asked.

I looked back over my shoulder and I didn't see the angel. I took a deep breath before I looked back at my colleague.

"Yeah," I said. I got into my car and started driving.

{Lucifer's POV}— I was in the bathroom, finishing up my hair and I heard the door come in.

"Hey, Lucifer?" Paige called out, "where are you? I need to-" she paused when she saw me as I stepped out of the bathroom. Her face turned red and she quickly turned away.

"Why are you naked?!" She exclaimed and I chuckled.

"Well I did just get out of the shower," I said, "and all rhe dry towels are in the wash."

She sighed and rubbed her face, trying to make the blush go away. "At least wrap yourself up in a blanket or something," she grumbled.

I chuckled and turned around to grab one of the nearest blankets from the couch.

She looked at me and I looked back at her. "What?" I asked, seeing the shock on her face.

"What... your back," she said hesitantly, "who did that to you?"

I frowned for a moment before it dawned on me what she was talking about. "Oh they're nothing," I said quickly but she gently turned me around. When her fingers brushed against... them, I quickly spun back around and grabbed her wrist.

Her startled gaze caught mine and we stared at each other.

"Don't... please," I said softly. Her eyes softened for a moment.

"Okay... okay," she said with a small nod and I let go of her wrist. I looked at the to-go bag and the grocery store bags on the counter.

"Well I, uh, bought some stuff for my pets and there's still some leftovers in there if you want any," she said, "but seriously, please get dressed."

I chuckled softly, "will do, milady." She rolled her eyes as I walked back into the room to change.

Once I closed the door behind me, my smile faded and I gripped my shoulder tightly, a shudder running through my entire body.

I closed my eyes, shoving back the memories of my Fall. I took a deep breath and let it out. I could deal with it later.

The last thing I needed was to worry Paige. I got dressed in a black shirt and blue pants before I came out of the room and Paige was feeding her animals.

"Remind me again as to why you have these little creatures," I huffed as Orion seemed to give me a judgemental look.

She looked at me, "what, you don't have any pets in Hell?"

"Have you ever heard of Hellhounds?" I huffed again and she chuckled. I smiled softly.
