Day 46: THAT'S MY CHILDHOOD!
Anyone see lost items from their childhood above? Can you smell the nostalgia wafting through the air? Hm... Actually I forget some of you were practically born yesterday lol. And that brings me to my question then...
What are some defining memories from your childhood? The sort of things that when they're mentioned, your excitement rushes in and you can see yourself back as a kid, where you're like THAT WAS MY CHILDHOOD! And okay, let's limit it to positive things lol. We'll do negatives another time lol.
Anyways, so in the comments below, list at least one or more
-cartoons
-games
-videogames
-toys
-books
-classic memories
that you could use to sum up your childhood. Something that if someone asked for a picture of your childhood without any explaining words, you could show them a slideshow and they'd get it.
-----------
I'll go first, though I have too many to name tbh lol
-all the cartoons above plus tons more lol. Doug. Men In Black. Pokemon. Yugioh. X-Men. Spider-Man. Batman. Jackie Chan Adventures. Xiaolin Showdown. Dragon Ball Z. Ducktales. Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers. Looney Tunes. Freakazoid. Bonkers. Quack Pack. Goof Troop. Ahh Real Monsters. Invader Zim. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Courage The Cowardly Dog. Looney Tunes Unleashed. And so many many many more lol.
-those memory games with the lights and you push in patterns lol. Um.... Cops and robbers... Umm... Playing pretend counts as a game right? I was big on imagination as you can imagine. Like literally 75% of my day back then was consumed in pretend lol, even up til sleeping xD. Heck even for school and chores... Tag and freeze tag are a given right? and the usual sports stuff... Well I actually only liked soccer. I tolerated (American) football only because I didn't want to be left out. Hated basketball. We had some games we tweaked somewhat and would take too long to explain so I'm going to leave them out. Um... Red light green light.
-Crash Bandicoot. Spyro the Dragon. Tekken. Soul Calibur. Donkey Kong Country. Super Mario Brothers. Megaman. Loads of others too lol.
-Um... See my Ramadan post about my Muslimized action figures xD rollerblades. Pogo stick. Beyblades. Plastic swords. Guess Who? Dominoes.
-THOSE SCHOLASTIC BOOKS FEATURING LOONEY TUNED CHARACTERS AND THE TIME MACHINE THING! Those were the absolute best! So funny, I'm holding in laughter even now. Daffy Duck was my favorite character lol, and I liked when he got to be the main hero. Umm... Oh and the Scooby Doo ones too. Loved solving the mysteries, and of course freakn Scoob and Shaggy made me hungry always eatint lol. I remember one book where Shaggy ate a ton of PB&J sandwiches, and i was reading waaaay past my bedtime, and I craved a sandwich so much rn then, but couldn't do anything about it :'( lol those were great books. Oh and the story about the Hen and the bread she made and none of the animals wanted to help make it during every step that she asked, and yet they all turned up to try to eat and she was like "you didn't help grow the wheat, you didn't help water the crops, you didn't help bake the bread, you won't help eat it" or something like that lol. Oh oh and the story about the family with the giant turnip and so the grandfather tries to pull it and his wife pulls him and the dog pulls and the cat and the etc etc until everyone helps and they finally get it free. And of course i have to include the only non-fiction books i loved as a kid. We had a 10 book series on the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for kids. AND we had a series of books on the sahabah, and MAAAAAAAAAN were those inspiring lol. They influenced so much for us lol. Incorporated in my pretend play mentioned above, as well as real life scenarios. In fact, much of that still affects me today, especially their bravery and steadfastness in the face of adversity and persecution, reflecting on the negativity surrounding my fam as Muslims since childhood. Only stories like theirs could make a kid SMILE about being harassed over being a Muslim and then pretty much dare someone to do something by displaying their "Muslimness" even more proudly lol. Sigh....
-Meh don't feel like doing classic memories rn lol. Check my Ramadan Reminiscing posts in my other book if you haven't already.
Anyways those are my answers. How many of you can relate? Don't forget to share your own experiences and childhood items down below, guys. I'll be waiting to read!
