Prologue

She was gone. He had checked the lava climbing wall multiple times as well as the whole of Camp Half-blood! With every passing minute she wasn't with him the pains grew stronger. He doubled over and grunted. Falling to his knees, his new jeans covered in dew. He wanted to scream but the pain came again and he bit his lip so hard his teeth broke the skin and the coppery taste of blood infected his mouth. Campers stopped what they were doing to watch him, some started to panic. One new Hermes camper ran to get Chiron. He groaned again and curled into a ball and tightened his stomach in a feeble attempt to stop the pain from shooting from his stomach into his head. The landscape started to spin. "Annabeth," he mumbled before his eyesight gave out and it all went dark. Sounds invaded his ears, the hearing had increased to a million. He could hear Chiron's hooves galloping across the grass and his voice that sounded so very worried.

"My boy, are you OK? Percy wake up!" Something pushed his side and he rolled over. He coughed up and he could tell it was blood. It was warm as it trickled down his chin. "Will!" Chiron called. Another pair of footsteps approached him.

"Yes, Chiron? Percy!"

"Will, take Percy to the infirmary right now!"

"Of course," Will replied and picked him up. He lay limp in the arms of the Apollo demigod as he weaved through camp.

"Annabeth," he moaned and gripped Will's arm tightly. Tears rolled down his cheeks in waves that Poseidon would be jealous of, "Annabeth."

Will looked down at him sadly and shook his head, "I'm sorry, Perce. I'm so, so sorry."
