No One POV:

The battle was done.

The war was over.

The good guys won the battle.

But sadly, it didn't come with a cost.

The cost of the now-deceased Hokage.

When the others returned to the village their sensei immediately rushed to them as they noticed the multiple injuries they sustained. They were taken to the hospital as they were for some time, but Naruto and Y/n were the quickest due to well...they were different.

The two of them notices that the people were sad as Y/n was the first one to ask why everyone is sad. The villagers were confused until they explained that they were outside of the village because of the enemy.

That was when they told them that Lord Hokage died in battle.

Naruto's eyes widen as he couldn't take it. He didn't believe it, he denied it, he screamed no in his head, he was looking around but see that everyone was now more upset making him deny it even more.

Naruto was gonna yell at them, but Y/n quickly came in and hug him as a way of comfort but to stop him. He knows that Lord Hokage was someone that Naruto considered close to him, before he graduated, he only had Lord Hokage and Iruka-Sensei. He took Naruto to his place as he listens to Naruto crying and repeatedly saying that he was not gone, or it was not fair.

Gyomei, Zabuza, and Haku came back as they see Naruto sleeping Y/n look at them as he told them what happened. Haku nodded as he stated that Zabuza told him what happened during their time while Y/n and the others were outside of the village. The four of them turned to the sleeping fox as Gyomei started to pray for him.

Now after days of returning things were still the same. The air had lightened up a bit, but it was still heavy as Naruto spend nights at Y/n's house, which is laying down while looking at the ceiling.

"Naruto..." Y/n knocked on the door before opening it, "Hey, we got some ramen here so please come down and eat."

The silence was the only answer as Y/n frowned a bit as that's been the only answer he's been getting. "Also...it's time, for the funeral. We have a suit for you, so I'll leave it here for you," Y/n put the attire on a chair before walking out and quietly closing the door.

Naruto continued to stare at the ceiling as he then looks at the attire. It was a nice suit and was thankful for having someone get him one. Though the mood changes when he looks out of the window to see the Hokages' faces as he sees the Third Hokage's face.

'Why?'

Y/n was downstairs when he sees Haku, Zabuza, and Gyomei on the table. "That brat is still in there." Zabuza sighed as Y/n nodded, "I'm really worried about Naruto. They were like the only close people he had before meeting us. I'm worried how Naruto is gonna move on in the future."

Haku was lost in his thought as he too was concerned about Naruto. They didn't have much time to spend but he already cared very deeply about the blond fox. They were almost the same as being alone before having someone come into their lives and give them something that they don't want to let go of.

"The only thing we can do is to just be there for him," Haku spoke as he stares at his drink. "If he wants someone to hold them then we will, if he wants a shoulder to lean on then we will if he just wants someone to be there for him because he feels lonely then we will. That's the only thing that we can do."

Suddenly they hear footsteps and they turn to see Naruto coming down with his suit on. Y/n was glad that Naruto decided to come out of the bedroom, hopefully thinking that he's now recovering.

"Come, I'm sure the others are waiting for us," Haku stated as everyone nodded to leave. The adults went in a separate direction as Naruto, Haku, and Y/n went to a spot where they see Sakura.

"Hey, guys..." Sakura greeted. Y/n and Haku smile as Naruto just nodded his head. Sakura frowns a bit when she sees Naruto's facial expression, looking down a bit but looking up again when another pair of footsteps was heard.

They look to see Sasuke but only ignore them as he continued to walk where the funeral is gonna be held.

The others were confused as they kind of guessed this would happen, yet the air around him was different making them feel like something was wrong.

They eventually catch up as they arrived. Now all of the remaining shinobi were standing as they look at the portrait of their now-dead Hokage.

Something dripped on Y/n's nose it made him flinch a bit, "Huh?"

Looking up the clouds were grey as it soon rain. "Rain..." Kurenai muttered.

"The sky has started to weep as well..." Asuma spoke quietly.

"We will begin the memorial service for the Third Hokage, who lost his life in this battle, as well as the other victims of this battle."

'It's started...' An Anbu thought to himself, 'In the end, all we could do was just watch...'

One by one each shinobi was placing a flower as a way to honor their fallen Hokage.

'Why,' Naruto thought to himself, 'Why did Old Man Hokage have to die?'

Naruto turns to see Konohamaru crying. Y/n felt something hit him as he turns to see Konohamaru crying as he accidentally hit him when he was wiping away his tears.

Iruka put one arm over Konohamaru as he remembers being in that state. He remembers when he was little that he visited his parent's grave as the Third Hokage came in and talked to him.

"It's already been a year...It's not easy to laugh while hiding your sadness. I heard from your teacher that you're the center of laughter..."

"I'm not sad at all!! It's a very honorable thing for a Shinobi to die doing their duty! My parents sacrificed their lives to protect this village from the Demon Fox...They're heroes! I am the child of the heroes! I'm not sad to be alone. And besides, these are tears of joy."

"It's all right. I know that you're curled up holding your knees by yourself. But you're not alone..."

"Huh?"

"The Ninja of the Hidden Leaf Village has the will of fire..."

"Will of fire...?"

"It's the strong will to protect the Leaf Village. As long as they have this will of fire, everybody in this village is all family."

"Iruka...I wonder if you have it?"

"...Yeah..."

Y/n looked around as he was confused. Haku turned to Y/n as he was wondering what Y/n is confused for at a time like this.

"Kakashi...he isn't here," Y/n whispered. Haku looks and sees that he isn't here, "Yes, you're right."

It was now their turn to pay respect as they went in line to place their flower down. Each one of them had a moment in their life with the Third Hokage, even Haku.

He remembers when he was...observing the "hangout" with Iruka and Y/n when the Third Hokage spotted him. The two of them had a little bit of fun seeing how Iruka was clumsy and Y/n being a dense cupid to know that he catches the eyes of many shinobis.

Haku places his flower as he was smiling on the inside, 'Though I don't know you like the others...I'm forever grateful that I've met you.'

Y/n then walks up as he was remembering the many moments they have. From hearing about his parents to seeing the many butterflies or to how he made the Hokage pay a lot of money because he bested him in an eating contest.

'Sayonara...Lord Hokage.'

Soon after everyone send their flower they noticed something. "The rain..." Sakura spoke, "It stopped."

The clouds soon leaves as the funeral was now over. 

"I'll see you later Iruka-Sensei..." Naruto waves as he goes over to his team.

"Naruto...please be careful," Iruka stated as he smiles a little. 'I know it's hard, but I know that you'll be okay.'

"Hey Naruto," Y/n spoke, "Zabuza, Gyomei, Haku, and I decided to go out to eat once we finish changing. Do you want to come?"

Naruto stood still as he was thinking about it. "Sure!" Naruto smiles.

"Great!" Y/n smiles. "It has been a while since we can have...a little bit of relaxation," Haku stated.

"Come on, let's go." Zabuza stated as he turns to leave, 'Something doesn't feel right...'

'I sense demons in the area...one that's tainted in their family's blood,' Gyomei thought to himself as he look to the side.

"They did manage to avoid annihilation, but it seems the damage is pretty extensive."
