No One POV:

The five members of team 7 stood in the hallway, facing Kakashi and Zabuza who were standing in front of the two doors. The silver hair ninja gave them a close eye smile and Zabuza gave them a gaze. However mentally he was glad to see his team. 

"Glad you came, Sakura, for your own sake, and the others." He said puzzling them.

"Huh?" Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura said as Y/n and Haku were waiting for either of them to continue.

"Now, you can all formally register for the Chunin exam," Kakashi said to them.

"Why? What do you mean?" Sakura asks.

Zabuza grunted annoying at them as he turns to Kakashi, "I thought you said that this girl was supposed to be a smart one? Yet she can't figure something like this?"

"Zabuza, you have to know that the exam isn't like the one from your home village as well as the time before here. Things have changed, so, naturally, they might not understand." Kakashi explained. "To answer your question. Only groups of three are allowed to apply for and take the exam. That's the way it's always been."

"The problem first was the number you guys have. With a total member of four then added to five once Haku and I came in, there was a chance that one of you wouldn't be able to take it. However, the Hokage put trust in me and Kakashi that both Haku and Y/n would be with me as 7B." Zabuza stated as the team was scared that one of them wouldn't be able to take it. Even after all the work that they put in.

"Hold on! Sensei, you said the decision to take the exam was up to the individual." Sakura added. 

"Yes, I did," Kakashi answered. 

"So, was that a lie?" Sakura asks.

"Sort of. It is an individual decision, but it affects all of you. I didn't tell all of you guys before, is because I didn't want to put pressure on you guys." Kakashi stated as Zabuza decided to turn to his squad.

"The overall aspect was that you guys would take it out of your own decision. Even though you guys have said yes there is some team that fell because one of them only did it out of feelings and not personal." Zabuza said as Haku nodded in understanding. "So... if one of us including the members on squad A decided to decline...Then neither of us would be able to take it."

"In a way, it would make sense. We have an odd number even though there's a total of five. Each squad has a total of three and we have five having a squad of two would almost even it out, but if one of us decided to not take it, then the ratio would be thrown off." Y/n said as the others including Senseis nodded.

Kakashi looked at them before speaking, "Sakura, Sasuke, Naruto, Haku, and Y/n. I'm proud of you. I couldn't ask for a better team. Good luck."

He stepped out of the way as Zabuza walked to Haku and Y/n.

They waited for him to speak when suddenly Zabuza hugged them. "Haku, at first I only considered you as a weapon as you agree to it. For years you would do your best for me, but now it's my turn. I've always been grateful to you, but I never show as to expose the memories that you have and the hunger for power that I wanted."

Haku shake a bit, "Zabuza-Sensei."

"Y/n, we were enemies, yet you showed kindness as well as fanning over someone like me." Y/n blush from the moment that he remembered that he thought that he kept it to himself.

"Even to now when we fight on the bridge and from falling you gave us kindness and hope. That made me stop as I realize that I've failed and now I can see a moment where Haku can have a better future than what I have. Now it's my turn to help you." Y/n's eyes were watering as he spoke something that lifted Zabuza. "Thank you, Zabuza-Sensei."

"Now, head out there and show them no mercy," Zabuza said even to him, Haku, and Y/n he was messing a bit.

"Hai!" The two said.

The five of them went to the doors as they open it to see different ninjas from a different land. Some of them even looked older than them.

"Sasuke, Y/n! Where have you been?" A boy with blond hair tied into a ponytail came running to them. 

Y/n recognize the voice, it was Ino. He smiled brightly when Ino came and hug him as Y/n returned the hug. Ino hugged Sasuke too, but he was a little uncomfortable.

"Man, you have no idea how much I was hoping you guys show up here!" Ino said hugging them. 

"It's good to see you as well Ino, how's the team yours?" Y/n ask.

Sakura growled. "Hey, your poker! Back off! Sasuke is mine!"

Ino looked at her boringly as he pushes Sasuke. "So? Then I can take cupid here. By the way? Still got those big frown lines on your billboard brow, I see."

Sasuke felt relieved to be out, but he was scolded after hearing what Ino said.

"Leave my forehead out of it!" Sakura growled defensively.

"Oh, it's you guys. I knew this, was gonna be a drag, but I didn't know it was gonna be this lame. Also, Ino, you're squishing Y/n."

Ino realize that Y/n's face was becoming blue as he quickly let go so Y/n can breathe. Y/n turn and see Shikamaru and Choji. 

"Moshi Moshi!" Y/n waved. 

"So, all three stooges are here," Naruto said facing them.

"You know what pipsqueak? Ah, forget it. You're a waste of time. Hey Y/n, it's been troublesome dealing with these guys." Shikamaru started shaking his head. 

"Hey!" Choji looked betrayed and eat his chips in sadness.

Y/n walked to Choji and patted his head. "Oh, Y/n! It's been so weird not having everyone who can challenge me in an eating match!" Choji complained as snot was coming out.

"E-Eh, might wanna fix yourself Choji," Y/n commented ignoring the annoying look.

"Well, Well. It looks like the whole gang's back together again." Another sound came. 

They turn to Kiba, a boy with red markings on his face and a dog on top of his head, Akamaru. Shino, a boy with a coat and glasses on. And Hinata, who looks comfortable with his squad.

Kiba sniffed before turning to see Y/n as he smirked. "Well, looks like my day got better. How's my mate doing?"

Y/n's face burns from seeing him smirking and asking that question. "I-I u-uh?" Y/n tries to say but fails miserably. 

"Hey dog breath, back off!" Naruto stated.

"You guys too huh? Man. Everyone's here for this stupid thing." Shikamaru sighed but he was looking at Kiba harshly.

"Yep! All ten rookies." Kiba laughed a bit.

"Eleven."

 Everyone turned to Haku as he was close to Y/n and smiled at them. "It's nice to meet you guys. My name is Yuki Haku, a member of squad 7." Haku bowed.

Ino looked at him suspiciously as he notices where Haku is standing, "So, Haku? Where did you show up?"

"Oh, it was during one of your missions. There was an odd number so Haku and I are now a squad with our new sensei since Haku came with someone else." Y/n answered smiling. 

Y/n didn't want to say Zabuza because there were some ninjas from his homeland. If they found out that he's here and he's their sensei, then trouble is coming.

Kiba shrugged, "Well, this is gonna be fun. The more the merrier! But only one of us gets to move on right Y/n?"

"Careful, Kiba. Don't want to be overconfident." Sasuke stated as Ino raised his fist.

"Just wait. We're going to blow you guys away. We've been training like crazy." Kiba smirked.

"What do you think we've been doing? Sitting around picking daisies? You don't know that training means!" Naruto pointed angrily.

Hinata cleared his voice nervously. "Don't mind Kiba. I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it." He said as he blushes when Y/n notice him.

"Hinata, how have you been?" Y/n asks calmly as Hinata blushes more and fiddles around.

"Oh, u-um I've b-been good. I r-really like my team." Hinata said as his team felt happy hearing that.

"I'm happy for you." Y/n hugged Hinata as he froze and almost squeal from the sudden action.

"By the way, there's another Hyuga here."

Hinata's eyes widen as now knows what he was doing. He was warning him since Y/n know about his life at the Hyuga estate. 'Thank you, Y/n'.

"Well, I'll be! Hinata already made a move on my mate! I didn't know you have it in you!" Kiba said accepting the challenge. 

Y/n felt something on top of his head as he looks up to see a dog yapping happily at him.

"KAWAI!" Y/n said holding the dog gently as Akamaru wiggled and accidentally landed on Y/n's hoodie as he pop out from it. 

"Hey there Akamaru! Get out from there!" Kiba said getting jealous of his dog.

Y/n take Akamaru off as the dog whined almost as Y/n put it on top of Kiba's head.

"Hey, you guys! You might want to try to keep it down a little." A new voice came as Y/n doesn't recognize it.

He turns to see a boy with glasses and a ponytail, he has their headband so he's from Konoha. "I mean, no offense, but you're the eleven rookies, right? Fresh out of the Academy? I wouldn't go making a spectacle of yourselves. Just cool it. This isn't a school field trip."

Something in Y/n made him feel off when he see the new person. It's like there was something off about him.

Not only that but he can feel his sadistic side is wanting to come out, but he doesn't know why. Did he just meet him? Why would he feel about it to someone new?

He tap his shoulder on Haku who seem to understand what he was saying Haku was surprised that Y/n would be the one to tell.

"Well, who asked you?" Ino yelled. "Who are you anyway?"

"I'm Yakushi Kabuto. But really, look around you. You've made quite an impression."

Everyone else looked around the room staring at them or glaring at them silently. Y/n can feel heavier and almost unique eyes staring at him. 

It felt off, almost like its demanding something.

"See those guys?" Kabuto made a motion, and they look where he was motioning. "They're from Amegakure. Very touchy. They all are. This exam makes everyone tense, and you don't want to get them off the wrong way. You can't help it. I mean, how could you know how things work? You're just rookies."

Something from him saying "rookie" made Y/n have an irk mark on his head as he sends a smile but glared at him. Kabuto seem to notice as he was a little caught off by the glare mixed with a smile, he smiled back, "You remind me of myself a while back."

"Ara Ara~, Kabuto was it?" Y/n begin starting to be upset. "You just said 'while back', this isn't your first time taking the exam?"

"Well, we have a sharp ear. This is my seventh attempt." Kabuto confessed.

"Oh, my you poor thing. Not being able to pass the exam, especially when it takes twice a year, I'm so sorry. No worry though, I'm sure that you'll pass this year!" Y/n brought his hands up smiling.

The people from outside of the village that heard Y/n started to chuckle as some were shocked by how he talked about being sweet but toxic at the same time.

"Y/n!" Sakura yelled at him. 

"Aw, what's wrong? I haven't said anything wrong haven't I?" Y/n innocently asks.

"I'm sorry about me team member." Sakura bowed at him. 

"Wait, if you took the exam, then you have to have some inside tips!" Naruto claimed excitedly.

"Yeah, some 'expert', he's never passed." Shikamaru scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"Well, seventh time's the charm, that's what they say, huh?" Kabuto replied, rubbing the back of his head and smiling.

"So I guess all the rumors about the exams are true." Haku sighed, pulling his bangs back.

"Oh man, I knew this would be a drag," Shikamaru complains.

"Hang on," Kabuto said as he pulls out some cards. "Don't give up hope yet. Maybe, I can help you kids out a little, with my ninja info cards."

"Ninja info cards?" Sakura asked.

"It's hard to explain, but these cards have been encoded with chakra with everything I've learned over the past four years." Kabuto knelt, placing the cards on the ground.

"I've got more than 200 of them. So you see, I haven't been completely wasting my time. They may not look like much to the naked eye. They appear blank. Don't want just anyone seeing this stuff. You see, I'm using my chakra to reveal their secrets, like this, for example." Kabuto spun the card around, making a hand sign, and a map appeared on the card.

"What's the map for?" Ino asked.

Y/n look at it a little before realizing something. "Oh, it's the geographical distribution of all the candidates here. From the villages, they're from and how many from each village."

"Why do you think they all come here to take the exam together at the same time?" Kabuto asked.

"The foster friendship between nations. International brotherhood. Things like that." Haku stepped in.

"But there's another reason." Sasuke said looking at Y/n.

"Hai!" Y/n nodded. "That way they can carefully regulate the total amount of ninjas that ended up in each village, almost like maintaining balance power."

"Very good." Kabuto looked up at Y/n and Sasuke for a minute, then took a glance at everyone else so he wouldn't seem suspicious.

"Balance power, big deal. It's all a drag." Shikamaru yawned.

Sasuke stepped in. "Do those cards of yours have any info on other candidates individually?"

"They might. You have someone in mind?" Kabuto question.

"I have three," Sasuke answered.

"I can't guarantee my information will be perfect or true, but I've got something on just about everyone, including you guys of course. So which three people are you talking about? Tell me their description, name, whatever." Kabuto prepared.

"The first person, his name is Gaara of the desert. The second person is Rock Lee. Lastly, Kanroji Kocho Y/n." Sasuke said.

Everyone was shocked as Y/n looked at Sasuke with eyes widen. Even Kabuto from the last person, "I'm confused. The last person is right here with us, but I'll do it either way."

'Why did Sasuke say my name?'

"I can guess."

'Please tell me?'

"Well, let's think about it. First off in the beginning we were the only one that was close to Kakashi during the bell test. Second is the mission when we first face off against Zabuza. Sure, Kakashi joined in but we decided to take action once Kakashi was trapped. We alone face off against Zabuza as we held on for some time before Naruto and Sasuke decided to join. Lastly when Haku arrived. When you and Sasuke got caught in his ice mirrors you were the only ones that had the least damage. Plus the fact of the eye technique that we did, we were able to see Haku and landed a direct hit. Lastly, when you got hit with Kakashi's attack many wouldn't survive the blow, especially where it landed, and not have a scar. All these things would lead to suspicion as they don't know us well."

When Chomei explain the scenarios it was making more sense than Sasuke was to ask, but it also frightened him. If these cards can tell descriptions about someone, then what would the card tell when his name comes up?

"Here they are," Kabuto said pulling out three cards as Y/n was starting to get nervous. "Okay first up is Rock Lee."

The card made some motions as small smoke appeared. The card showed a picture of him as well as the Hyuga boy, the girl with the two buns, and Guy-Sensei. 

When Hinata saw the Hyuga boy his eyes widen as he now knows who he is.

"Looks like he's about a year older than you guys. Mission experience, 11 Cranks, and 20 D ranks. His squad leader is Guy. In the last twelve months, his taijutsu has radically improved, but his other skills are pretty shaky. Last year, he got a lot of attention as a Genin, but for some reason, he chose not to participate in the Chunin exam. This will be his first time as a candidate, same as you guys. His teammates are Tenten and Neji Hyuga."

Hinata started to sweat as his thoughts were right. Y/n noticed as he got closer and bump his shoulders. Hinata quickly look as he see Y/n as he started to calm down.

"Okay, now for Gaara of the desert."

The same things happen as it shows a picture of him, the two people that they meet before. However, something was off about the card.

"Mission experience, eight C ranks, and-get this. One B rank as a Genin. There's not a lot of information on this guy. He was a rookie from another land, originally, but there is this. He survived every mission without getting a scratch."

"The dude's done a B rank mission as a Genin, and has never been injured?" Shikamaru asks. 

"What's the deal with this guy?" Naruto asks.

"Last person, Kanroji Kocho Y/n. Huh? He's originally from Takigakure but now he's living in Konohagakure. Mission experience he has mostly D-rank missions but one B-rank mission as a Genin. He has the most experienced in taijutsu as his speed is high and so his strength. His genjutsu is good as well. His sensei is Kakashi and also unknown? However, this partner is Yuki Haku. That's all." Kabuto finished.

Y/n was mentally glad that it didn't mention him being a Jinchūriki as well Zabuza's name not being mentioned. But he's a little hurt that Sasuke would do something like this.

" Konohagakure, Iwagakure, Kumogakure, Sunagakure, and Kirigakure. From the looks of it, they've all sent skill shinobi to the exams this time. Of, course some are small. It sprang up recently. No one knows anything about it. They're a mystery." Kabuto picked up the cards. "So now you guys know the competition is gonna get tough."

"So, it would seem," Haku said quietly. "It's almost enough to make you lose your confidence. Do you think it's going to be more intense than in past years? Or is it always this way?"

"In the four years I've been coming, I've never seen a crop of candidates with this much. Yep, we've got our work cut out for us." Kabuto nodded.

Y/n's ears twitch as hear one-no three movements. They're fast but the wind pressure is helping him hear what it is. 

He caught a motion in his eyes as he quickly turn to see one of the sound ninjas jumping with two kunai. He throws them at Kabuto as he dodges but another came in front. 

Kabuto quickly dodge it as Y/n admired his fast reflexes.

Suddenly his glasses broke as he was caught off but then smile. "So it was that kind of attack." 

Y/n was skeptical, he dodges yet his glasses broke?

Suddenly Kabuto was shaking and fell to the ground as he started to cough out blood. Y/n eyes widen as he rushes there and pulls Kabuto.

He grabbed his face as he sees that his eyes are hazy and not the kind where it was because he needed glasses.

He felt the same glare as it felt heavier and menacing like someone is telling him to follow his stare, but he tries to shake it off as he checks out Kabuto. "Focus on my voice. Breath slowly for ten then breath out slowly."

Kabuto follows as he sees that his vision was better, he can see closely that Y/n was holding as he checks for any physical injuries on him.

'I don't get it, there are no physical injuries, he dodges the attack. So why is he coughing blood and falling to the ground?' Y/n thought.

"How is he?" Naruto asks.

"He has no physical injury. So, something else must've happened that cause him like this." Y/n answered.

"Not such a tough guy after all." He turns to see the same sound ninja that did it. Write this on your little card, punk. The Genin from the Sound Village will be Chunin when the exam is over, guaranteed." The other one who threw the kunai said.

Suddenly a huge smoke came as a new voice came out loud. "All right, your baby face degenerates. Pipe down and listen up!" The voice was male, and it was heavy.

Everyone stopped to see the smoke clear as it was quiet. When it was clear it shows several people but the one stands out was the one in front as he has scars on his face.

 "It's time to begin. I'm Ibiki Marino, your proctor. And at this moment, your worst enemy."
