Question: Pancakes or Waffles?

No One POV:

"Uh oh!"

Pakkun stopped his movement as the rest of the squad stop their pursuit. "Pakkun?" Sakura asks.

"Hey what's wrong?" Naruto asks as he crashes into a tree. "Why did you stop all of a sudden?!"

"The scent of Sasuke and the other two...are quickly moving away! It smells like Sasuke is chasing those two people..."

"What?!" Naruto asks. "Are you sure?" Haku question. 

"There are no other signs of movement. But..." Pakkun paused himself.

"Let's not just stand around. Let's go after Sasuke right away!" Naruto stated.

"But...what?" Y/n asks. "The people who are left are going to fight each other." Pakkun answers.

The squad was now on alert. "We'll end up taking a little longer way...but all it is for us to do is to avoid it."

"Huh?!" Y/n asks. "Why?! If we do that, it'll only delay our chance."

"I agree. Knowing the amount of time of how Sasuke has been pausing and then continuing his move. It's most likely that he has been in some fights." Haku stated.

"True, but we don't know what'll happen in the battle zone," Sakura spoke. "Even I don't want to do it. But there's a possibility that we'll be irrepressibly caught up in a battle."

"That doesn't have anything to do with it!" Naruto said. Naruto and Sakura argue with each other as Y/n notices something in the air.

He sees some glistering scales as it was coming towards him. Instinctively, he put his finger out as it was a butterfly.

He observes the butterfly as he notices that it's not from him. He could feel a different source of chakra out it.

'This chakra, it's Shino.'

"He must be the one that's fighting."

'So, what do we do?'

"...You're not gonna like it."

'Chomei? What are you thinking?'

"...Take Haku and leave the rest of them."

'What?!'

"Our mission is to bring Sasuke back. We had a good number of the squad. Yet someone who was never with us was able to catch up before us. They're slowing us down, especially since the pug is constantly stopping his movements."

Y/n was silent as he couldn't argue. Shino was able to catch up to Sasuke while they were still trying to catch up. But...

'But how are we gonna do this? Pakkun is the only one with a good scent.'

"The answer is the one that's on your finger."

Y/n looks to see the butterfly that has Shino's chakra.

"I can detect both Sasuke and Shino's chakra. With the speed you and Haku have, we'll catch up to Sasuke."

Y/n's eyes widen, this could be their chance. He bit his lips a bit as he slowly turns towards Haku. Haku looks back as he notices his distress.

"What's wrong?" Haku asks. "Do you trust me?" Y/n whispers. Haku nodded as he was lost by the question.

"I know how to get to Sasuke," Y/n stated as Haku was caught off by it. "But we need to leave them. They're slowing us down."

Haku's eyes widen a little as he wouldn't guess that Y/n would come up with that. "...I agree. The two of us are the fastest but we've been reducing our speed. But how are we going to..."

Y/n brought the butterfly out as Haku nodded.

Pakkun turns and sees the two of them talking. "Kid, what are you thinking?" Naruto and Sakura stopped arguing as they see them nodding.

"Y/n?" Sakura asks. They turn towards them as Y/n gave a small smile. "Sorry."

They suddenly went off as everyone's eyes widen. "Kid! What are you doing?!" Pakkun yells.

"We're getting Sasuke!"

Scene Change Jutsu:

Shino and Kankuro face each other as Kankuro brought his hands up.

'Puppet Master Jutsu!'

Shino brought his hands out as he was ready to counter. Kankuro pulls the bandages as the item starts to spin around.

Chakra strings were at his fingers as Kankuro smirks. Twitching his fingers, the puppet appears around him.

Beetles were coming out of Shino's sleeves. Slowly it was forming a swarm of them. Covering his arms, one came close towards his face.

"I see, he got the message," Shino stated. Kankuro heard him as he was confused.

'Message? Did he message someone where Gaara's going?!' Kankuro thought to himself.

"I'm from the Aburame Clan of the Leaf Village..." Shino speaks. "When we fight, we never underestimate our opponent, no matter what puny insects they may be. I'll advance with full force!"

"Bring it!" Kankuro challenge.

Scene Change Jutsu:

Gaara was still unconscious as Temari was now carrying him. He was starting to breathe heavily as he continues his run.

Gaara slowly groans as his eyes started to open up. "Put me down, Temari," Gaara spoke.

"Can you move?" Temari stops as he slowly let go of Gaara. He groans more as he holds his head again.

Temari notices the blood on Gaara as he looks back. 'Kankuro is delaying Uchiha now. We must use this opening...'

"If we don't get a move on, the operation will..." Temari brought out a bottle. "Huh?!" Gaara turns towards Temari.

"Temari, go over there." Gaara point at a farther distance. "Huh?" Temari was startled as Gaara slowly gets up.

"Just beat it! You're in the way!" Gaara punches Temari in the stomach. He crashes on the tree as he was now unconscious.

Gaara looks up as he sees Sasuke. Now the two of them stare at one another.

Scene Change Jutsu:

Shino and Kankuro ready themselves as neither one made a move. Kankuro decided to make a move as his puppet starts its attack.

A blade came out of the puppet's arm as Shino caught it. He quickly jumps away as he sees purple liquids leaking out. "Poison on the blade!"

Kankuro made his move as another blade came out. Shino quickly dodges as the puppet now possesses two poisonous blades.

The attack continues as Shino was stuck in a tree. He moves to the side as the puppet went for Shino's head. Acting fast he jumps into a bush.

"I won't let you get away!" Kankuro twitches his fingers. The puppet went into a bush as Shino was hiding.

Scene Change Jutsu:

Sasuke and Gaara stare at one another. Neither one of them was letting go of their sight.

'That's...Sasuke Uchiha! Did he get past Kankuro?!' Temari panicked. 'No... No matter how you look at it, it's too soon.'

'Did another assailant come?'

"I don't know what you Sand Ninja are scheming...but I'll stop you!" Sasuke declared.

Gaara's face started to break. "And..." Sasuke was seeing the fight Y/n had. 

Seeing that Y/n got caught in an arm as he saw a new set of yes. "I'll ascertain your true identity!"

Gaara groans more as he clenches his head. "Gaara!" Temari yells in worried.

More cracks started to appear on Gaara's face. Temari recognizes the look as his eyes widen.

'Is he going to rouse that thin in a place like this?! This is no joke...It's out of my hands.'

"Stop, Gaara!" Temari yells. "Have you forgotten the operation?!"

"You who are strong...You who are called Uchiha...You who have friends...You...You who has my love with you!"

Sasuke was taken back by the look Gaara is sending. He was smiling as his eyes widened.

"By killing you...I will have him and exist in this world as the one who destroyed all of that..."

Gaara screams as he was shaking. Sasuke was staring at Gaara until his eyes widen.

"You're...my...prey!"

Scene Change Jutsu:

Kankuro pulls some strings as multiple blades came out of the puppet's ribcage. It charges at a bush as two kunai came and attack it.

Smoke came as it reveals a log. "A substitution?!" Shino heard something below him as he quickly jumps out.

A puppet arm came out as Kankuro smirks. "You're naive." He twitches his fingers as the puppet was now at a close range to Shino.

Its mouth opens as two blades came out of it. One of them stab Shino in the chest as the other got his head. "That did it!"

Shino started to fall as suddenly; bugs started to come out of his head. Soon his entire body disappears as it reveals nothing but insects.

'Insects?!' Kankuro's eyes widen as he quickly turns. Shino was closing in as he goes for a punch. 

Kankuro quickly ducks under as he jumps away. "To think you'd make a clone out of insects and wrap around behind me...Not bad!"

"Your reach encompasses from medium to long-distance and you use a puppet. I didn't think you would do well in close combat. With that Puppet Master Jutsu where you have to concentrate on the control of the puppet...the one casting the Jutsu is prone to openings in the defense."

"You're very aware of the weakness of puppet master! However, from here on, I'll show you the essence of this Ninjutsu fighting style!"

Kankuro reattaches his chakra strings onto the puppet. "The real terror of Crow... my puppet of warfare!"

The puppet turns as its elbow opens up. Shino quickly made a bug shield as a smoke bomb came. Creating a purple color smoke as it surrounds Shino.

"This is Poison Smoke Bomb!"

Shino jumps up as he was out of the smoke's range. He started to wobble as he groans a bit. "Did I inhale...a little bit?"

"I get it...and the caster of the Jutsu hides, eh?" Shino analyze.

Kankuro was hiding in a bush as Shino was once was. Shino breathes as he was sweating a little. Kankuro smirks at the sight.

Scene Change Jutsu:

Sarutobi and Orochimaru were breathing hard. Orochimaru's snake sword pierce Sarutobi while Enma tries to stop the blade from piercing more into Sarutobi.

The Reaper Death Seal Jutsu was still at its effect as it still holds Orochimaru's soul.

'To have come this far...To have come this far...!' Sarutobi chants in his head. 'Do I already lack the power to drag out his soul? With this feeble body...even though I'm prepared to die, is it not enough...?!'

'You probably could've killed me if you'd been ten years younger.' Orochimaru motion his fingers as the blade pierce more.

Slowly the Reaper's hold was getting weak as Orochimaru's soul is almost into his body.

"Sarutobi! If you don't kill him now, the village is doomed!" Enma pulls the blade back a bit. "Do you understand?!"

"I... understand!" Sarutobi answers. He groans as the Reaper's hand starts to pull out more of Orochimaru's soul.

"Useless...old man..." Orochimaru groans.

Scene Change Jutsu:

Gaara breathes hard as his body started to change. His arm and the side of his face look like an animal made out of the sand. Lines cover the body as he groans.

Sasuke's breath was shaking as Temari's eyes widen.

"Now...Let me feel it!"

Sasuke's eyes widen. 'That eye!' During the match between Y/n and Gaara, there was a different set of eyes that matches what was on the side of Gaara's face.

Gaara launches at Sasuke as he is caught off guard by the sudden speed. Gaara yells as his new arm goes for the attack.

It created an impact as multiple trees were now damaged. Sasuke was able to escape, but it was only by a fracture of a second. He breathes heavily as he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder.

'This doesn't look like it'll end by the time you come for back-up...Shino...'

Scene Change Jutsu: 

Shino was still breathing hard as the poison was still having its effect on him. It was rough and heavy as he was kneeling on the ground.

'It looks like the poison has slowly started to circulate.' Kankuro notices Shino's position. 'I'll finish this!'

The puppet creeps on Shino as it has the blade out again. Shino heard it as he quickly turns, but the puppet acted fast and slash him.

A hole was on Shino as his body once again disappear to bugs. 'Insects, again?!' Kankuro's eyes widen. He quickly looks around for Shino.

'But he shouldn't be able to move so much in that state...' Kankuro caught some leaves falling as he turn in that direction.

Shino was using the bugs as he's squatting down on the branch. He was breathing hard as Kankuro twitches his fingers. 

'I'll make things easier for you...'

Suddenly the puppet was barely moving. It was as if the puppet was rusting. 'Hey! What's wrong?!'

Bugs were coming out of the puppet's joints as Kankuro gasps. 'Don't tell me...!'

'It's futile...' Shino spoke in thought. 'He can't move anymore. I had the beetles burrow into every joint...'

More bugs started to appear as it was covering so much of the puppet's body. 'He stuffed beetles into its joints so that the puppet can't move. That was his aim from the beginning!'

The beetles started to swarm the chakra strings. 'The beetles are passing through the threads of my chakra...' Kankuro furrow his brows.

'Right, their food is a chakra.'

The insects continue their feast as Shino was able to see where they were going. 'At this rate, my location will be found out!'

Kankuro releases the strings as it scatters everywhere. Shino furrow his brows. 'He cut the chakra threads himself...?'

Shino started to get up as Kankuro smirks. The puppet suddenly raises his head as it was launched out. Coming around at Shino as its mouth open as a poisonous blade came out.

'Die!'

The puppet barely stops as it was inches away from Shino's face. Suddenly the puppet's head started to fall.

'What the hell?!' Kankuro screamed. Shino was kneeling as he was breathing hard. 

Kankuro looks at his hands to see some insects. 'The chakra threads have been bitten through!' Kankuro's eyes widen.

"What?! But how...?!" Kankuro was confused as a swarm of beetles was on his back.

Shino was slowly controlling his breath. "By beating away the bait insects along the chakra threads, you dropped your guard. You didn't notice...the wriggling insect behind you."

"The insects were moving the whole time...heading for your headband.'

"W-What did you say?!" Kankuro yell.

"The one blow earlier..." Shino catches his breath. "I pretended to miss and stuck one of those beetles on you."

Kankuro's eyes widen, he remembers what he was talking about. "But how did you know where I was with one such beetle...?"

"The female beetles have almost no smell..." Shino starts to explain. "Only a male can sniff out the subtle smell of the female."

"Then, the beetle on my forehead..." Kankuro looks up at its headband.

"Right...It's a female."

Shino groans as he was on all fours. "The poison has circulated through my whole body, huh..."

'It looks like I won't be able to go to back you up...'

Shino lays on his back as he was losing consciousness. Slowly blinking he notices a butterfly flying towards him. The butterfly was flying closer as the last thing he sees is a shadow.

"Moshi Moshi! Are you alright?"

 "No! No! No! You can't leave me! You mustn't leave me! We have to stay together! No matter how many times I might be reborn, I'll always be your sister!"

"Oneesan!!!"

"No matter what happens. We will be with each other!"

"Oniisan! Please I need you guys!"
