Chapter Five

Café Amour was packed on Valentine's day.

All the employees were busy dashing around the place, taking orders from the customers, while a saga of never-ending couples kept on making an appearance. Amidst the chaos, Alice was hanging the banner she had prepared, while Ivanna was busy sticking the heart-shaped balloons on the flower baskets.

The cafe's aroma was more strawberry-centric today, with hints of white chocolate. The reason? Ivanna's Valentine's special cake which she had baked herself. Although it was surprising how Alice didn't jump on it already, owing to the major sweet tooth she had.

Ivanna, too distracted by the work in hand, didn't really realize that Jimin hadn't come in yet. She facepalmed, blaming it on for the stupid note she gave him the previous day that hinted at her stupid feelings. Stupid, Stupid, Ivanna.

Though, Ivanna considered herself delusional for even thinking that she had chance with a global popstar. The man must've received love notes and confessions like it was going out of style. Then why did she feel the same tingle in his eyes for her? Must've been her imagination, she assumed.

"Ivi, can you pass me the tape?" Alice called from near the counter, standing on a chair and hanging the banner.

'Love Is In The Air'

Shaking her head to herself and giving herself a prep-talk to focus on the task at hand, Ivanna passed the tape to Alice. The other employees handled the customers today, the decoration work hopping down to Ivanna and Alice's shoulders; not that they minded it anyway.

Just when Ivanna thought the game was over and she fucked up everything—even the brewing friendship with Jimin—the bell over the door ringed and a faint smell of peaches caught the brunette's nose. Her heart raced, her lips tipping up into a wide smile. Not even the overpowering smell of chocolate and strawberries could make Park Jimin's signature scent unnoticeable to her.

Her fingers instinctively curled around the ribbon of a balloon, tightening, as if grounding herself. But the second she turned and caught sight of that eye smile, she knew she was doomed. He was standing close... very close, but she didn't seem to mind that.

And that's when she knew that her—Ivanna—someone who hated when anyone got into her personal space found Jimin's presence comfortable, she was a long goner for the blonde.

Jimin's outfit today was formal. A white button-down paired with black dress pants, he looked like someone who was this close to going on a date. And the thought had Ivanna feeling slightly dizzy and her smile to budge a little. Well, it was Valentine's day, how could she even expect him to not have a date for today.

"Can I get an Iced Americano, Iv?" he asked, him biting his lip to stop the smile growing on his lips.

Too entranced, Ivanna's overthinking had her not paying attention to whatever Jimin said. The blonde snapped his fingers in front of her face, Ivanna coming out of her daze. A sheepish grin formed on her face, her mouth opening and closing, failing to say anything. She patted her palms against her apron, trying not to get too flustered.

"Oh, how the tables have turned, sweetheart."

Jimin chuckled, completely unaware of the effect his slip-up nickname had on the brunette. His gaze lingered on her for a beat too long, before she nodded and he took a step back to make way for her.

"Yeah, your Americano. Yes, coming right up."

She scurried past Alice, who was eyeing the door impatiently and checking her watch every two seconds. Ivanna decided to ignore that. Special treatment is what she would call it—Ivanna, the best barista in the cafe—was making coffee for him, even though the other employees were having kitchen duty today.

Whipped is what she was.

"More whipped than the cream on her strawberry cake." The Cupid whispers, as if on cue.

Just when she whirled her head up with a glass of Iced Americano in her hand, she saw that Jimin was gone. Her lips turned into a frown, and she blinked in confusion. With a sigh, she kept the coffee on the counter, before her she caught the sight of a note beside where she put the glass.

Her fingers grazed the paper which was carefully—too carefully—folded into an origami heart.

She bit her lip to stop her grin and unfurled the note, her heart racing as pupils dilated. As soon as she read the note, a giggle escaped her lips and she did tiny jumps in her spot. Alice looked at her weirdly, before she got distracted at the sight of Jungkook who just entered the cafe and spared Alice oh-so-noticeable heart eyes. The man sneakily wrapped his tattooed arm around Alice's waist, smiling at Ivanna's state.

So, Jimin told him in advance, huh?

She thought to herself. Paying them little-to-no attention, Ivanna read the note over and over, her heart thrumming in her chest and a foolish grin spreading on her face.

'I think you've stolen my heart. If you want to give it back, meet me after your shift xx'
