⠀⠀ Chanyeol was starting to feel a little bit like a stereotypical girl.

⠀⠀ Sighing, he gazed at his bed completely covered in his clothes. His entire closet was practically on top of it, and Chanyeol was pretty damn sure that he had never panicked to this extent to pick a perfect outfit for a date. He ran a hand through his dyed-red hair before shuffling through the pile of clothes, mildly grumbling about how much work this whole situation. If it wasn't Jongdae, he wouldn't give two shits about what he wore. Stupid Jongdae and his charm and gorgeousness and everything else that made Chanyeol fall in love with him all those years ago. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

⠀⠀ Finally settling for a black t-shirt with random English he quite honestly could not make sense of scrawled on it along with a pair of ripped black skinny jeans, Chanyeol meticulously styled his crimson locks to perfection before walking out into the living room where his roommate and friend, Oh Sehun, laid. Sehun was currently taking a nap on the couch with his comforter from his bed draped sloppily over him, and Chanyeol rolled his eyes. Sehun's extra dance practice was in an hour, and to hell with it—Chanyeol was going to let Sehun be late and get scolded by Taemin.

⠀⠀"Hunnie, wake up for a sec," Chanyeol said gruffly, grabbing onto Sehun's broad shoulders and shaking. It took a moment, but the younger boy eventually fluttered his eyes open lazily before immediately grabbing onto the edge of his blanket and tugging it over his eyes to block out the light. Chanyeol sighed—This fucking brat—before taking the comforter and ripping the entire thing off of his friend's body, leaving only a whining half-naked 22 year-old in its wake.

⠀⠀"Chan, what the hell," he complained as he gave a half-assed attempt to take his comforter back without moving from his warm place on the couch.

⠀⠀"How do I look? Suave? Cool? Sexy? I'm going for all of the above," Chanyeol inquired as he spun on his heels in a mock pose for Sehun to look. He waited a moment before turning back to his friend and awaiting the younger boy's response.

⠀⠀"Like shit, but that's normal." Sehun shrugged, sounding quite peeved that he had been so rudely awoken. Chanyeol rolled his eyes before chucking the comforter directly into Sehun's face and walking to the entryway to lace up his combat boots.

⠀⠀"Thanks, asshole!" Chanyeol called after he had grabbed his phone and wallet, only to be returned with a sharp, brash, "Anytime, fucker!"

⠀⠀Chanyeol seriously needed to find a better roommate slash friend.

⠀⠀The Park boy was meandering along the busy streets of Seoul, ignoring the dazzling, flashing lights and buzz of the night in favor of running over the details of his meet up with Jongdae he had organized a few hours earlier—just a day after he had received his ultimate crush's number, which, in itself, was a fantasy come true. Let's see, he thought to himself as he gazed around his surroundings occasionally to make sure he hadn't passed his destination yet, meet at 6:30PM at Vivapolo, dress casually, don't bring anything. It's 5:48—I'm set.

⠀⠀It was a cloudy night, and the moon could faintly be seen behind the haze in front of it. Storms weren't common, especially during this time of year, but lightning flashed brightly through the clouds as thunder rolled for a few seconds after Chanyeol had finished his thoughts. None of the other pedestrians and tourists paid any attention to the sudden occurrence, but Chanyeol pondered for a moment if Cupid was responding to him and to the fact that the odds of him losing this godly bet were quite slim at this point. A satisfactory smile creeped up to his lips and he shoved his hands into his pockets.

⠀⠀It was 6:20PM when Chanyeol finally came to terms to two facts: one, he was horribly lost and he now had to enlist in the help of Naver to find this damn Italian café, and two, he really should've brought a jacket and worn better pants to defend himself against the biting, bitterly cold winds of late fall. He wrapped his arms around himself in an attempt to retain some kind of warmth, his teeth chattering as his breath formed misty white swirls in the air. Damn it all; he was fucking freezing. Cupid is probably laughing at me now, Chanyeol thought grimly as he looked this way and that. Was he even close to his destination?

⠀⠀Approximately 6:42PM, after a considerable amount of wandering, train rides, and what his family would consider a worrisome amount of swearing, Chanyeol found the small, quaint café hidden away from the busy streets, lights brightly aglow and a certain warmth emitting from it. Chanyeol was particularly grateful for the warmth since he was practically freezing his nonexistent tits off. He hurried into the door, releasing a happy sigh as the heat hit his body and dropping his pale arms to his sides. A loud, "Hey! Park Chanyeol!" from an unforgettable voice came from the other side of the room, and Chanyeol spun around to locate the speaker, striding over with a broad, toothy smile he rarely showed.

⠀⠀"Jongdae!" Chanyeol exclaimed as he slid easily into the booth across from said boy. "Hi, I-I'm so sorry I was late! I-I got lost, and so much other stuff—" he began to fret, which he mentally killed himself for. You're going for suave, cool, sexy—remember, Park Chanyeol?

⠀⠀Jongdae was laughing, his eyes scrunching up and his mouth falling wide open. It took a moment for him to gather his self-control back, and even then, Jongdae was still stifling back giggles. Chanyeol didn't mind, really; Jongdae could ask to choke him, and Chanyeol would agree in a heartbeat (hey, he's very nearly 24—close enough to be considered one, and it was completely okay to think such things). He just loved Jongdae that much.

⠀⠀"It's okay, Chanyeol-sshi! I thought you stood me up, actually," the Kim boy explained with a genial smile. A chuckle escaped him before he focused once more. "But now that you're here, we can properly hang out and stuff! I didn't know what you would want, so I just got breadsticks and soup for now."

⠀⠀Chanyeol blushed scarlet, rubbing his nape awkwardly as he felt the tips of his ears heat up as well. "You didn't have to do that, Jongdae," he murmured as he laid his hands flat on the table and shifted his position his seat. Oh, god—this was so awkward and embarrassing, Chanyeol inwardly cringed. Come on, pull yourself together and make him fall in love with you, fool!

⠀⠀"Well, too late. The money is spent," Jongdae sighed theatrically before laughing at himself. He pushed the bowl of breadsticks to Chanyeol's side of the table and gestured towards it with a flick of his hand. "Dig in. Don't let my money go to waste, Chanyeol-ah!" Jongdae teased as he took a spoon and began taking large scoops of the chicken noodle soup in front of him. Still a little flustered, Chanyeol nodded his thanks and took a breadstick—warm to the touch, thank god—before chowing down.

⠀⠀Chanyeol was munching through his seventh breadstick, his head bowed, when Jongdae started to cough. Startled, Chanyeol's head jerked up and slammed into the back of the booth, causing him to drop his precious stick of bread onto the tiled floor. He hissed in pain and tentatively touched the back of his head, wincing as he felt a sore bruise forming. Ah, fuck, he sighed inwardly. And he has ruined the date even further. Wonderful. Chanyeol pushed a glass of water towards Jongdae who had turned away and was still coughing into his arm, casting the smaller boy a worried glance. "Jongdae, are you okay?"

⠀⠀It took a moment for Jongdae to stop his fit of coughs, and when he did and turned back around, he had a shy, embarrassed smile on and his face was tinted red. He took the glass of water and gulped down a hefty amount before staring up at Chanyeol with the chocolate-brown eyes that Chanyeol loved. Ew, I'm so whipped, the taller boy thought to himself with a tiny sigh when Jongdae said, "Oh, I'm fine. Something just went down wrong," with a cute, shy laugh at the end of it. He held up the glass of water, the corner of his lip upturned in a genial smile. "Thanks for the water, Chanyeol."

⠀⠀"Ah, anytime!"

⠀⠀They lapsed into silence for a few moments, and this was when Chanyeol decided that it was time to get this going. He was going to make Jongdae fall head over heels for him, and this was when it was going to begin. He ran a hand through his bright red hair and rested his chin on the palm of his hand casually before asking, "So, Jongdae. Are you seeing anyone?"

⠀⠀Jongdae looked up, seemingly stupefied by the sudden question, before he cracked a smile. "I'm seeing you, aren't I?" he jested, his eyes scrunching up in jubilance as he saw Chanyeol hide his tiny laughs and smiles behind his pale, thick hand. Jongdae shrugged, still grinning wildly like it was all just fun and games. "Okay, no kidding now," he laughed, "yeah—I am," he said easily.

⠀⠀What?

⠀⠀Chanyeol froze. His heart was palpitating hard, and he was just praying that his eyes weren't bulging out at this point. This must be some cruel joke. Cupid, you're fucking with me, right?

⠀⠀"Chanyeol? You there?" Jongdae asked, stifling his laughs at the taller boy's stunned expression. Chanyeol snapped out of his daze, awkwardly smiling and shaking his head. "What, did you think that I was so ugly that I wouldn't be able get a date?" he teased with a mischievous smirk.

⠀⠀No, not at all—you're probably one of the most attractive human beings I've ever laid eyes on, Chanyeol thought to himself as he struggled to come up with a proper response to seem casual and not completely ruined like the feelings bubbling up. "Nah," Chanyeol began, an easygoing (fake) smile lighting up his face, "it's just that I never see you around, and rumor has it that you never leave your apartment after your classes are all done."

⠀⠀Jongdae raised a brow, the corners of his lips pulling upwards. "I guess I don't get out much, being a music major. Two instruments, piano and guitar, music theory, recitals, composing. . . It get's tiring," he chuckles as he counted off the things he listed on his thin fingers. Carelessly, Jongdae shrugged. "It's worth it. I hope to be a composer or music teacher when I'm done here."

⠀⠀Chanyeol nodded, suddenly feeling a new sense of appreciation for the fact that Jongdae worked so hard. And he played guitar and piano? Oh, man—Chanyeol really was throwing in the towel at this point. "If it's okay for me to ask, who. . .  who are you dating?" he asked unsurely. Jongdae laughed.

⠀⠀"I don't mind," he said pleasantly. "Her name is Zhang Liyin—three years older than me and a transfer student from Chengdu. She studies music with me and Baekhyun," Jongdae sighed, sounding absolutely love sick at the mention of this Zhang girl. Well, I'm extra fucked now, Chanyeol thought grumpily. He's not even into guys!

⠀⠀"Oh, that's good." No, it's not good at all; I've practically damned everyone I love now

⠀⠀"So, how about you, Chanyeol? You've got a girlfriend slash boyfriend?" he asked, his eyebrows wiggling before covering his mouth with his hands as he laughed. Chanyeol gave a few short, unhumorous chuckles before shaking his head.

⠀⠀"I've actually had my eye on someone for a while now, but I don't think they've noticed me," he said with a wry smile on his face. Jongdae's face lit up with excitement, and he began bouncing in his seat. Adorable.

⠀⠀"Really?! Oh, you should tell them! Maybe they like you back!" he squealed with his hands on his cheeks. No, he most definitely doesn't, Chanyeol thought bitterly with an inward sigh.

⠀⠀It was 8:20PM on the dot when they finished their hangout and parted their ways, Jongdae teasingly asking Chanyeol if he needed directions back home and receiving an eye roll and a joking forehead flick in return, shortly laughing as he walked to his car and drove off. Chanyeol stood there for a second staring after the car until it disappeared once it turned a corner. He then sighed and pulled out his phone to consult Naver about directions to get back home as quickly as possible because damn it all—he was freezing again.

⠀⠀As he turned a corner, he felt someone grip onto his arm. Fully prepared to swear the guy out (he was in a bad mood at the moment), he paused when he saw the same blood-red eyes he had encountered two days ago in the alleyway. Chanyeol narrowed his eyes and jerked his arm from Cupid's grasp before snapping, "Yah, what do you want?"

⠀⠀A smirk. "Park Chanyeol. How did the date go?" he asked smoothly, as if they were old friends. It was absolutely infuriating. An involuntary growl came from Chanyeol's throat.

⠀⠀"You know how it went."

⠀⠀"Ah, you're right," Cupid sang as he walked a single circle slowly around Chanyeol. "Poor you—your ultimate crush is in a happy relationship with a girl. Boohoo." He spun to face the tall boy. "I guess that's bye-bye to you, huh?"

⠀⠀Chanyeol clenched his fists, and suddenly the biting cold wasn't as bitter as it was a few seconds ago. A burning desire to punch this god in the face and prove him wrong flooded his body, yet he took a deep breath in a valiant attempt  to calm himself. "It's been two days," he murmured harshly, glaring at Cupid. "Things aren't set in stone yet. Don't get too cocky now—Park Chanyeol doesn't go down easily."

⠀⠀Cupid laughed. "That's the thing about you mortals. You're all so determined and courageous that it's almost stupid. No, it is stupid." He spun on his heels and looked over his shoulder. "Love is crazy—remember that. It follows no rules, knows no boundaries. I'm no oracle so I can't see the future of this bet, but if you think it's going to be easy, you're horribly mistaken." Cupid's voice had become as hard as steel and just as cold in an instant, and before Chanyeol blinked again, he was gone with the sea of people in the Seoul night.

⠀⠀Chanyeol ran a hand through his red hair, his lips pressed into a hard, thin line. If he was going down, he was going down swimming. No god was going to get his way that easily.

⠀⠀He gave a long, heavy sigh and resumed his trek home, prepared to go to sleep. This was all exhausting, to be honest.
