The things he had to do just to get his wings back. Why did his parents have to be so mean and curse him to this Earth and why did nature had to allow his arrow to strike the wrong person?

All of these thoughts ran through Cupid's mind as he trotted with the excited humans. He was going ice-skating today and he should be happy.

He's a god not a human for fucksakes. He is almost a century years old and he couldn't ice-skate, worst embarrassment ever.

"Stop lagging, Cupid!" Ella's excited voice hollered ahead of him.

He cringed at the happy aura surrounding her. How could someone be so happy to go play around on the ice? He wondered.

"Coming," he mumbled.

"It's not that bad," Psyche said chuckling as she drew back for him to catch up.

"Sure, you aren't going to be here so you don't know how bad it will be," he snapped.

Psyche had told him earlier that she had to go to Olympus for some important stuff she wouldn't mention so she opted on following them and getting on a train for show.

"We're here!"

He winced once more at Ella's enthusiastic voice. She was a bubble of joy always being radiant and happy and with Jared by her side, he knew she would always be happy.

"Guys, I'm gonna catch the next train," Psyche said waving at them and heading in the opposite direction that led to the subway.

Cupid took in his surroundings and grimaced. He was standing not far from the skating area that was iced, there was a store where you could purchase skating shoes.

The rest of them looked at him with eager eyes but he ignored them still looking at the little kids dancing on the ice.

"Cupid!"

He blinked momentarily staring at Sacha, he dreaded the ice.

"What! You guys run along," he smiled creepily.

James chuckled. "Are you scared, Cupid?"

Cassie puckered her lips at him, her eyes filled with laughter. "It's just ice skating."

Only Ella sympathized with him. "Don't worry, Cupid I'll hold your hands."

"What about me?" Jared frowned.

"I don't have skating shoes and I don't have money to get one," he said. That wasn't a lie because he had no means of purchasing the shoes so he was free from skating.

Or not.

"We can rent one." And Sacha marched away and got back a few seconds later with a brand-new skating shoe.

Muttering under his breath, he wore the shoes and immediately lost his balance landing on his butt.

"Omg! Dude hasn't even started skating yet."

He glared at the two kids chuckling and displaying some interesting moves on the ice.

"Let's go," Sacha said helping him up.

It irked him. He was a god for crying out loud. How could he require help from a measly mortal when he was immortal?

Staring down on the floor watching his steps, he gingerly stepped into the ice and landed on his butt again.

Laughter echoed around him and he groaned.

"Shut up!" He yelled at them.

The rest of the kids kept laughing while Cassie and the rest shot him a sad look.

This was supposed to be a date for Cassie and James, he's not gonna ruin it with his inability to skate.

"You guys carry on, I'll just be here watching you," he said waving them off.

And so that was how the Cupid, almost a century years old and the god of love, desires, and affections remained sitting on the ice while kids skated around him.

To his frustration and annoyance, nothing happened between James and Cassie. They had just skated around like normal people, talked, and laughed.

That was all. No kiss or display of affection. That was the reason why he had frozen his ass off today. He was in a bad mood as he walked ahead of them, only Sacha managed to keep up with his large strides.

"So, why don't you know how to skate?" She asked.

He knew she was trying to initiate a conversation but he wasn't in the mood so he ignored her.

"You're upset?" She asked.

He rolled his eyes. Wasn't it obvious?

"And now he's ignoring me," she said with a hint of amusement in her voice.

"Go away!" He grumbled.

"Alright, I won't talk about your amazing skating abilities," she snickered then continued, "Let's talk about Cassie and James."

"What about them?" He asked with a frown.

She shrugged. "They still aren't together yet."

"Why do you always state the obvious, Sacha it's annoying," he muttered.

"Oh maybe because you act like you're in a fairytale where time doesn't exist," she snapped.

He glared at her but kept quiet.

"I need my friend's broken heart to be healed before Christmas, I'm tired of the long face she keeps wearing," Sacha said quietly.

"I don't know what to do, you mor...er...ladies life seem so complicated," he sighed.

He was gonna say "mortals" because their lives were so different.

Back in Olympus to dazzle a goddess he will just take her on a magical carpet ride, show her beautiful places there and enchant her with his prowess in bed but here, that was a whole different story.

"Perhaps, if we should take them to the competition it could create a spark between them," Sacha mused.

He narrowed his eyes at her, stifling his laughter. "I may not know stuff about women but I know a competition isn't going to help them."

"Silly it's a competition for couples," Sacha replied.

His eyes widened in astonishment. Why hold a competition for couples?

"Yeah, the winning couple gets to take a vacation in any part of the world before Christmas," Ella added.

He hadn't even noticed when she caught up with them.

"What exactly is this competition about?" Cupid asked with furrowed brows.

Ella giggled. "It's the Willow love contest organized by our town."

"Can we get James and Cassie to sign up?" Cupid asked.

Ella smirked and his view on her being an angel was tainted a little with the cocky smirk on her lips.

"What did you do, Ella?" He asked warily.

She only widened her smirk and kept her thoughts clean. He wondered what she was up to.

For the first time since he arrived on Earth he wasn't warily of Cassie but Ella.
