"It's not what it seems."

Cupid chuckled while Thor shot him a glare still on his knees and bowing.

"Son of Odin, why have you come to wreak havoc on my most valuable assets?"

Thor puckered his lips, his brow scrunching up in confusion.

"I have not harmed any of your most valuable assets, Great Zeus!"

Cupid shielded his eyes from the brightness that surrounded a certain young man with flawless skin.

He was of an enormous height probably 7ft4 and had a sharp razor jaw, his eyes were pure silver sparkling like diamonds. His hair shone so whitely, they almost blinded other immortals.

He had a handsome face, his lips were smiling but they never reached his eyes.

Any mortal might think Zeus what like every other human teenager aside from his enormous height, his odd eye and hair color, he was breathtakingly handsome but this immortal was already a century years old.

"Greetings, god Zeus!" Cupid curtsied.

"Cupid of the Roman gods," Zeus acknowledged him with a nod.

"I believe you were brought here for a reason, something about your parents' curse."

Cupid rolled his eyes. So what if he was the black sheep of his family.

"Yes," he grumbled a reply.

"Thor, wait till he's back to Olympus then you come to see him," Zeus said.

Thor's red eyes flashed with anger. "With all due respect, Zeus I can't do that. He is responsible for my daughter."

"Thrud, the goddess of strength," Zeus mused then gave Thor a cold stare. "Go home and ask your daughter what she wants."

Thor gave Zeus a blank look slowly taken aback then glanced back at Cupid, a bitter look on his face.

"This is not over, arrow man!"

With a gust of wind, he was gone.

"Finally!" Cupid exhaled.

"That which you seek only you can find it, be careful of nothing even the heart is filled with deceit."

Zeus's eerie voice startled Cupid and he could only stare at him.

"Is that a riddle I'm supposed to find the answer to?"

Zeus chuckled softly. "Young immortal, foolish but wise."

"Great! Another one," Cupid sighed.

"What you seek young one, is within you. You seeth the heart but I seeth the soul."

The look was intense and slowly Cupid turned his face away, an odd sensation settling over him.

"Psyche!"

In an instant, she appeared, head bowed before Zeus.

"Come with me."

Another gust of wind and Psyche was gone with the king of Olympus leaving him all alone, to sort his thoughts out.

What you seek is within you. You seeth the heart but I seeth the soul.

How exactly do these words relate to him and why for the life of him did it matter?

"Twenty days to Christmas! I'm super excited!!"

Cupid glanced at the door, his eyes glazed over as Ella yelled running around the house happily.

"Cupid, when is Psyche coming back?" Linda asked chuckling at Ella's childish behavior.

"Yeah, for once I miss someone," Cassie grumbled.

"Oh, so you don't miss me?" Ella asked her sister with a pout.

Cupid sighed. It's been three days since the incident with Thor that Psyche had left with Zeus and he hadn't seen her. He had to make up something to tell these humans.

He didn't have to lie because he figured Psyche must have gone back to Olympus. So he told them that she went home for a while.

"I don't know but hopefully soon," he replied giving Linda a small smile.

"What's so exciting about Christmas anyway?"

The room fell silent and he suddenly felt uncomfortable when all eyes stared at him.

"What? Did I say something bad?" He wondered.

"No! You said something worse!!" Ella shrieked.

Linda chuckled and Cassie shrugged.

"He's got a point, you know," Cassie agreed.

"You too?" Ella threw her hands up in the air.

Linda gave Cassie a sad smile. "Don't let that ruin your Christmas, Cassie."

"Yeah," Ella chipped in, "Christmas is the most magical time of the year!"

Cupid shrugged. The only moment that will be magical and always remain so will be the day Psyche decides to accept him and become his consort.

"You humans always take things too seriously," Cupid muttered.

Cassie cocked her brow at him. "Humans? What are you?"

Cupid chuckled. "If I tell you you'd never believe me."

"Tell you what?"

They all turned towards the door and Cupid's grin widened. "Look who decided to show up."

"Hi to you too, Cupid," Psyche chuckled with an eye roll.

After a series of hugs and kisses from Linda and her daughters, Cupid dragged her away from them.

"Start talking!" He snapped.

She frowned biting her bottom lip. "I don't remember Zeus or any other gods making you my guardian angel."

"We are partners, Psyche and you left without telling me," he gave an exasperated sigh, "Do you expect me not to be worried?"

"I'm sorry, Cupid but I didn't leave Zeus took me back to Olympus," Psyche replied.

"Wait...you've entered Zeus chambers at Olympus?" Cupid asked narrowing his eyes at her.

"What happened when I was gone?" Psyche asked ignoring his question.

Cupid glared at her. "I asked you a question, Psyche!"

"I don't think I owe you any explanation," Psyche snapped.

"What were you and Thor discussing on that cliff?" He stressed on.

"Stop Cupid!"

"What are you hiding, Psyche?"

"We all have our secrets," she shrugged again.

He frowned. Something wasn't right here.

"Why can't I read your mind?"

She chuckled. "Hooray, your last power doesn't work again."

"What is going on, Psyche?" He persisted.

"Just shut up for fucksake!"

Cupid narrowed his eyes to slits as he glared at her. There was only one...

"Uhm...Cupid, you have a visitor!" Cassie yelled from the sitting room.

A visitor? He mused thoughtfully.

"Let's go see I'm excited too."

Cupid glanced at Psyche and gasped. He should have known!
