Fifteen

"Call an ambulance!"

"Omg! It was a bolt of real lightning!"

"Where did it come from?!"

"An alien attack?!"

Cupid winced painfully on the floor as the voices of people faded in and out, his eyes trying to focus on his surroundings but it was almost impossible as the darkness threatened to overwhelm him.

In all his immortal life he's never felt so much pain as the one he was facing right now. It felt as if something was burnt inside him.

"Cupid, stay with me!"

He heard Sacha's voice but it sounded so distant.

"Psyche!" He managed to say.

"I'm here, Cupid an ambulance is on the way. I had tried to warn you."

He recalled hearing Psyche's voice scream, "incoming" before the thunderbolt hit him. He managed a smile when he was able to focus clearly on her.

"Am I going to die?"

The clouds were spinning again but he focused on Psyche's face memorizing every inch of it. If he was going to the underworld he would have her memories with him.

"I'm gonna go check in with the ambulance."

He heard Sacha's voice but didn't see her leave, his eyes were focused on Psyche.

"If I'm gonna die, I'm not dying leaving words unsaid between us," he voiced out.

She shook her head placing a finger on his lips. "Hush now and save your strength."

"Why did Thor strike me?" He asked suddenly remembering urgent things, "Where's Loki?"

His lightheadedness was starting to clear and he wondered what was going on. He managed to sit up when Psyche stared at him, eyes wide with shock.

"What...you're healing?"

"Of course, he's immortal just in the body of a mortal!" The gruff voice of Thor startled them as Cupid stood up, a sudden rush of strength and anger filled him.

"What did you do that for?" He growled.

"You realize people are staring and Sacha isn't here yet," he heard Psyche whisper.

"Isn't that the guy struck by lightning?"

"I told you it's an alien invasion."

Clutching his chest, he feigned pain as Psyche helped assist him while he walked away from the crowd, Thor following them closely.

With his hammer and weird dressing, he looked out of place but he couldn't careless he just wanted to secure a future for his daughter.

After making sure they wouldn't be seen by the mortals, with a gust of wind Cupid came face to face with Loki.

"And he lives!" Loki exclaimed chuckling.

He ignored him and faced Thor. "Well?"

Thor sighed. "I'm sorry I wanted to shoot the thunderbolt at Loki but you had to use your body as a shield."

Cupid blinked. "I didn't use my body as a shield."

Psyche glared at Loki. "You did without realizing it thanks to Loki."

He gave Loki a cold look. "You!"

"You brought me to see Thor, no offense but I needed a shield," he replied.

"I'm sorry, Cupid."

Thrud's quiet voice ceased the argument and he ignored Loki focusing his attention on her. Her petite body now looked more beautiful, her curves were all visible, her stomach was protruding slightly.

"How have you been, Thrud?"

She gave him a small smile patting her stomach. "We're both alright."

He nodded, then he turned to Thor. "What do you have in mind for Loki and Thrud?"

Thor smiled. "Since my daughter decides to marry Loki I guess I'll just let them be."

Sif shot Cupid a grateful look. "Thank you, Cupid."

"What? I did most of the talking trying to convince you why I'm good for your daughter," Loki said.

He got ignored.

Cupid gave Thor a firm handshake with a smile. "You've made the right decision."

Thor chuckled, "If I didn't make the decision, I could always blast him with lightning."

Cupid and the others laughed heartily only Loki didn't find it funny.

"I've just been threatened and you guys are laughing," he cried.

Cupid blessed their union and smiled when they left for Asgard to have a proper marriage ceremony.

"What are we going to tell your friend?"

The question snapped him out of his thoughts and he suddenly remembered Sacha had seen the lightning blast him.

Massaging his temples he shrugged. "I have no idea."

Psyche gave a short bark of laughter. "You brought her along, why exactly?"

"I needed someone to talk to Loki in case he proved difficult," he replied with a shrug.

Psyche gave him an odd look. "What did you mean by dying without saying something?"

Cupid frowned scrunching up his brow. "When I wanted to tell you, you stopped me so I guess nothing."

"Cupid!"

He looked up and realized he was standing in front of the house. He cast a glance at Psyche and she shrugged.

"Explain now," she said.

Sacha was approaching them but Linda and the rest weren't with her.

"I was so worried but I didn't tell Linda, I figured you were alright since you left with Psyche," she was saying.

He nodded with a smile that turned into a startled gasp when she threw her arms around his neck pulling him into a hug.

"You're alive? I thought you were going to die," she cried.

He heard a huffing sound from Psyche before she walked inside.

"I'm sorry for worrying you, Sacha I just had minor injuries that's been taken care of by erm...friends," he replied awkwardly.

He was grateful she hadn't told Linda he wouldn't have been able to get out of it so easily.

"Do you still feel pains?" She asked sniffling.

He smiled. "Not exactly, I got a healing balm and the pain is completely gone."

"Well, that's a relief." She stepped away from him observing him.

Her aura read positive energy, he smiled at her.

"What's going on with you?"

She chuckled. "I've got good news."

"Spill!"

"James asked Cassie to accompany him ice skating tomorrow and she agreed only if we all accompany them," Sacha replied.

His brain went into overdrive as he tried to figure out what she was talking about but came up with nothing.

"Why do I feel like this isn't good news for you?" She arched her brow at him.

He sighed. "It's not."
