Teacup yawns in her long sleeved pink night dress as she walks to her bed, her and her brothers climb into their beds as Elder Kettle walks into their room smiles at the cup siblings,

"There we go all snug as a bug now you kids get some sleep there's supposed to be a thunderstorm coming" Elder Kettle warns them cautiously as he goes over to the open window closing the door.

Teacup gulps widening her eyes, she was scared of the dark but the only ones who knew was Mugman and Elder Kettle because they knew Cuphead would make fun of his sister as she stammers a bit scared "W-W-We h-h-have to sleep i-i-in the d-d-d-dark?

Cuphead hears his sister stammer making him smirk teasingly "What are you scared of, Teacup?Thunderstorms? Oh! Oh! Are you scared some ghost are gonna come and get you! Or, or... Are you afraid of the... Dark!! Haha!"

Mugman frowns at him "Cuphead, that's not funny"

Teacup blushes red embarrassed and a bit ashamed while Cuphead laughs pointing at his sister taunting and teasing her "Ahahah! Scaredy cup! Scaredy cup! Scaredy cup!"

Elder Kettle frowns at him using his cane to bonk Cuphead lightly on the head, Cuphead frowns a bit rubbing his light sore head.

"Cuphead! Stop making fun of your sister!"

Teacup frowns jabbing a thumb to her chest trying to look tough while she stammers a bit "I ain't no s-scaredy cup! I can handle a thunderstorm I a-ain't s-scared!"

"Oh yeah? If you're not scared, prove it! No need to bring out the nightlight, Teacup!" Cuphead smirks not believing her.

Teacup glups a bit nervously but frowns with a nod "Good! I-I don't need that dumb o'l thing anyway! Good night!" she grabs her teddy bear and turns over going to sleep. Cuphead shrugging his shoulders lay down in his bed as Mugman does the same. Elder Kettle smile turning off the lights closing the door.

Teacup whimper silently but tries her best to go to sleep.

There's a flash of lightning and a loud boom of thunder. Mugman jumps and hides under his blankets, but Cuphead laughs in the darkness.

Teacup shakes a bit scared hearing the thunderstorm hugging her teddy bear tightly but doesn't want Cuphead to make fun of her so she pretends to fall sleep.

Another flash of lightning and loud boom of thunder, this time much louder.

Mugman screams in fear shaking under his cover "AHHHHHHH!"

Teacup eyes widen as she puts her pillow over her head trying to block out the sound as Cuphead smirks teasingly at her making her frown "Ooh! Scared of the thunder? What a chicken!"

"Shut Up Cuphead! I-I ain't no chicken!"

"Uh-huh! That's what a chicken would say."

Teacup growls as she throws her pillow at Cuphead hitting him in the face. She sees Mugman hiding under his blanket as she walks over to him trying to reassure him but still a little scared herself " I-It's okay M-Mugsy i-it's just a little Thunder.. ya want to maybe get a glass of water? that might help you sleep"

Mugman muffled under his blanket while shaking from fear "Th-there's no way I'm getting out of my bed when there's lightning in the-"

A loud crash of thunder

"AHHHHHHHH!"

Teacup was scared but her brother was even more scared of the storm, she knew she has to be tough and brave for her brother. "D-Don't worry Mugman I-I'll go get it for you"

"O-OK..." Mugman stammers still trembling.

Teacup grabs her teddy bear starting to walk out of the room as Cuphead smirks wiggling his fingers trying to scare her with a mimicking scary smile "Make sure to watch out for the monsters in the hallways scaredy cup! Haha!"

Teacup walks down the dark slightly creepy hallway , her face white and her eyes wide with fear, her teeth chatters like piano keys as she looks around the hallway. She hears the thunderstorm outside the house as she squeezes her teddy bear "Okay we can do this.. I'm not a scaredy cup.. I-I'm not a-a scaredy cup!"

Outside the house, it's pitch black. The thunderstorm flashes brightly as a bolt of lightning strikes nearby, causing it to rumble loudly. It sounds like the sky is falling.  She sees the flashes of light as she looks at a grandfather clock seeing a shadow shaped like a monster with claws. Teacup yelps holding her teddy bear over her face walking quicker to the kitchen, another flashes of light shaped a horned beast like monster on the face with a big fanged creepy smile.

Teacup shuts her eyes tight quickly running down the stairs to the kitchen. She stops putting her hand on the wall leaning forward to catch her breath as she sees she's successfully made it downstairs to the kitchen.

Teacup gulps as she walks to the counter grabbing a glass as she hears a sound behind her she yells a bit looking behind her "Ahh! Who's that?! Who's there!!"

She sees its Mugman walking up to her as she sighs putting a hand to her chest as she looks at her brother  "Oh Mugsy it's just you..I thought you were gonna stay in bed"

Mugman is still shaking on his blue onesie pajamas but walks up to his sister concern " I... I couldn't stay in bed... I just... had to check on you..."

"Awww Mugsy" Teacup smiles even though her brother was scared he still cared about her sister.

A loud sound of Thunder made Teacup scream, she and Mugman hug each other close shaking as their teeth chatter from fear.

There's a loud crack of nearby lightning. The flash reveals Cuphead standing in the kitchen doorway, laughing at how scared his sister and brother are.

'Teacup frowns at Cuphead sitting shaking holding Mugman "I-I-It's not f-f-funny C-C-Cuphead!!"

"You guys are so... easy to scare! Look at you two, shaking like little babies!" Cuphead doubles over in laughter

Mugman and Teacup glare at their brother as he continues to tease them. As Mugman and Teacup glare at Cuphead, another flash of thunder and even louder boom of thunder are heard. The whole house shakes, almost like it's going to fall apart. The lights flicker and go out. Cuphead stops laughing and stands perfectly still, his face going from a smile to a terrified look in less than a second.

The Thunder booms loudly making Cuphead jump up screaming as he runs to his siblings joining the hug as all three siblings shake in fear

"That sounded way too close! I think I... wet myself..." Cuphead mutters quietly.

Teacup looks at Cuphead squinting an eye knowingly but still stammering scared "W-Who's the c-c-chicken n-n-now?!"

Before Cuphead can respond, a loud crack, louder than any thunder yet, echoes outside the house. The children cover their ears as the house shakes again. In the midst of the chaos, elder kettle appears in his nightgown, holding a flashlight. "What on earth happened?!"

Cuphead, Mugman, and Teacup scream at the top of their lungs  hugging each other scared not expecting to see Elder Kettle

"Is everyone alright in here?"Elder Kettle shines the flashlight, revealing the scared faces of Cuphead, Mugman and Teacup

Teacup shakes as she hugs Elder Kettle as she starts sobbing in fear of the storm "Okay I admit it! I'm scared of the dark and the thunderstorm! I'm A Scaredy Cup!!"

Cuphead and Mugman speaking in unison while hugging Elder Kettle in fear. "Me Too!!"

"It's alright, children. Everyone is scared of thunder, lightning, and the dark, you know?" Elder Kettle kindly pats their head trying to calm them down

Cuphead, Mugman, and Teacup look up at Elder Kettle with scared puppy dog faces speaking in unison together "Can we sleep with you Elder Kettle? Pleeeeease?"

Elder Kettle chuckles, rubbing his chin in thought.
"Why not? I guess it's okay this one time. All three of you can sleep in my room... if you promise not to wake me up."

The siblings quickly nod in agreement as they scramble to Elder Kettles room. Elder Kettle leads the three siblings into his room, and the kids hop into his bed. A quiet roar of thunder is heard outside, and Teacup clings to Elder Kettle for comfort. After a few seconds, the storm settles down. The house is completely silent.

Elder Kettle turns off the flashlight, and sits at the edge of the bed. In the darkness, he asks, in his quiet, soothing voice, "Is everyone alright now?"

Cuphead, Mugman, and Teacup lay close together in the bed

Elder Kettle smiles, looking down on the kids. A few seconds of silence pass as the children sit still in the dark, then Elder Kettle chuckles a little bit."Alright. Would you kids like to hear a bedtime story?"

Cuphead, Mugman, and Teacup nod

Elder Kettle smiles. Then, in a low, husky voice, he begins telling the story.

"Long ago, a powerful and wealthy ruler lived in a grand castle in the mountains. And he loved beautiful things, and his castle was filled with golden fountains, tapestries, and paintings. He had many servants, and one day he even bought an expensive jewel for his own. This jewel was a huge ruby, as big as a small watermelon, and it had a..."
Elder Kettle pauses for dramatic effect
"... magical spell... cast on it..."

Later on after reading to the story he look up to see Cuphead, Mugman and Teacup cuddling close together fast asleep.

Elder Kettle sits silently for a few seconds, then he chuckles to himself softly. He leans over to the sleeping siblings, kissing each of their foreheads, then whispers, "Goodnight children."
