Bryan .7
It took Angelica all of two minutes to name her new boogie Bryan.
He was completely fine with it, by the way. But, then again, he was very much happy to be in a house with other people to talk to.
She had then spent a week getting him used to the house, warming him up to Babs and getting used to him, because he was completely different from Babs.
Though the two were the same creature, they were very different, in temperament. Babs was more energetic, while Bryan like to lounge around. She had had to introduce them slowly, much like you would with a cat, so they wouldn't be anymore fights between them.
Babs, clearly, didn't like sharing Angelica's attention, so most of the fights that did break out were fights for her attention.
She also learned, right away, that Chad had decided that he too didn't like Bryan, though no one else had an issue with him. In fact, Chad's whole issue was a solidarity thing. Babs was his best-little-buddy, so if she didn't like Bryan, he didn't either.
That meant when they did fight, Chad was quick to dart out from under that couch and try to snatch Bryan up. Which usually lead to Bryan climbing something high, as he was very good at climbing, usually to the top of Angelica's head.
And that, made things worse, because Babs was apparently quite territorial of her.
It became apparent, when it came to finding something for everyone to eat, that Bryan liked sweet things. His favourites being Reese's Pieces, which she had to get shipped to her, and chocolate chip cookies. In fact, she was certain he just liked chocolate. Angelica kept trying to get him to eat normal foods, for protein and stuff, but he was pretty determined to avoid anything considered too healthy.
So that day, a whole nine days after introducing a new boogie to the house, the delivery they got that day was a moment of great excitement. Angelica had spent the whole morning baking. It was sweet potato biscuit day, and since that was an hours long affair, she had also chosen to make other things for the monsters.
Namely chocolate chip cookies in all different sizes and shapes because they all liked them. A massive one for Kyle, little itty bitty ones for the boogies, regular sized ones for Chad and Kevin.
She had just put the cookies into the oven to bake when there was a sudden scream of excitement from the one boogie who liked watching out the window. Which was followed by a shout of: "Delivery!" from Kevin.
She wiped her hands on her apron and went for the door, noting that no one had rang the doorbell or knocked. Then again, no one did, hell she was surprised they even came up the driveway. Everyone in the neighbourhood was terrified of the house, especially the postal delivery chaps.
By the time she got to the door all the monsters were there, all excitedly waiting for her to answer so they could see what they got. Though that was probably because they all knew that these were the things she had ordered for them.
Sure enough, a massive box was waiting for her, including several small ones. Clearly they hoarded them so they could make as few deliveries to her house as possible.
"Alright, Kyle grab the big one, Kevin please take one of the small ones. Doesn't look like I got a small enough one for you today, though. Sorry Chad."
Chad gurgled but otherwise didn't seem too upset.
She picked up the remaining boxes and they all moved into the living room so she could sit on the couches and unbox.
She opened the small box first, because she knew what that was by the stickers on the side.
"Look, Kyle," she said as she got it open. "Here's the smart home speaker I bought you."
She had been looking into getting something that he could talk out of exclusively that wouldn't mess up her TV. She had settled on this, but an off brand really cheap one just in case he ruined it trying to talk out of it.
His eyes crinkled in that happy way when she showed it to him. "We'll have to set it up when we're done unpacking everything."
The next box was all the packs of Reese's Pieces she had bought Bryan. She opened one pack and put two in front of him and the two in front of Babs, who were both sitting on the coffee table in front of the couch. Both trilled happily picking up the first one in their paws to start nibbling on the candy.
In the big box was the cat tree she had purchased for the two boogies to give them something to climb on. She had been in the process of designing them a special room, just for them, to keep them entertained. This was the first piece. It had things to climb, ledges to sit on, little hideaway and tunnels to explore. It even had little hammocks for them to sleep in if they wanted.
The medium sized box had the Sea Life Baby Tummy Time toy she had gotten for Chad to keep him entertained. There was a hidden lobster for him to find, a few rattling fish and other fun activities for him. She put that on the floor in front of him and a sudden squeak came out of him.
She was assuming one of excitement, though, to be fair, he didn't really make that noise that often so she wasn't quite sure what that one meant.
The smaller box was a custom quilt she had made for Kevin, who didn't even thank her. The second she pulled it out to offer it to him, he snatched it right out of her hands and scampered right up the chimney with it.
The last box was for Teddy. She had sat in front of the Build-A-Bear website for almost two hours going through all the options until he picked one he liked. She had it shipped to her without the stuffing and had gone out right away to buy stuffing from the only craft store in town.
She paid a crazy amount for it too.
She pulled out the skin for that little tawny teddy bear and then showed it to the ghost. "See, look, now we can protect your teddy better. What do you think?"
Teddy was beaming. "It looks great miss'us."
"Just Angelica," she said right away. She was hoping if she kept repeating it he'd learn.
Hadn't worked yet.
The first thing she did, once everything was unboxed was to send Kyle up to the second floor to what she was dubbing the boogie room. It was a smaller room that would normally be a room to rent out, but it was literally tiny. She was planning on moving the single bed and the few pieces of furniture out as soon as she knew what she was going to do with them.
Kyle could lift that cat tree no problem.
She told him to put it in front of the window and that by the time he came back down she'd have the smart home speaker unboxed.
When he did come back down, not only was that smart home speaker out of the box, but she had it plugged in and basically ready to go. She didn't have it set up to the house wi-fi or anything, because she was certain Kyle didn't need that to be able to talk about it.
They spent ten minutes cycling through the different voice and accents before he picked one. English, so she could understand him, with a New York accent. So he'd sound like her, he said.
If this worked out, she'd have to put one in every room of the house.
That was gonna be a lot of smart home speakers.
Once he was done she returned to the living room where Chad was playing with his toy and she could hear the faint sound of Kevin snoring.
Babs hopped from the coffee table to her leg and climbed her way up to her shoulder where she perched happily full on her candy. Angelica couldn't see where Bryan had gone so she figured he had gone up with the cat tree to try it out.
She pulled out her sewing kit, the stuffing for the teddy bear and then the teddy skin. She took her time filling the head and the arm and leg holes with the stuffing, being sure to leave the chest cavity open at for the time being.
"Hey Teddy!" she called when she was done stuffing the limbs. "Are you ready?"
The little ghost appeared right away, his worn, practically falling apart teddy bear in his arms. "Yes miss'us."
"Angelica," she repeated a little more sternly and then offered a hand out. He dropped the teddy into her hand then she carefully went about fitting him into the Build-A-Bear teddy's open back.
She was sure to wrap it up with stuffing, because the point of this outer shell was to protect the soul piece, while still being cute and cuddling and something that Teddy could hold. Teddy watched her carefully, leaning against the arm of her chair until she finished stuffing it.
She did a few loose stitches to close up the hole and then offered it up to him. "Here, try it out, see if you like it that way or if it needs a little more or a little less."
Teddy took the bear gingerly. He looked it up and down, as if he was expecting the face to have changed now that it had stuffing in it. When he was done he pressed the teddy to his chest, its head resting on his shoulder.
She let him hug it for a long while before he finally said: "I think it's good miss'us."
"Angelica," she said again. "And alright. Hand it over so I can finish sewing up the back. That way your original teddy won't get hurt when you play with it."
Teddy handed it back and she went about sewing the back in properly. Following the finishing stitch guide that came with the teddy skin.
As she was sewing a twang could be heard upstairs which confirmed that Bryan had gone upstairs to what would soon be the boogie room where his guitar was lying on the bed. Bryan liked to play the guitar, sometimes Babs would join in with the bell on her clock.
He really only played one song though Kevin had said that he knew other ones. So she sat there, relaxed and at peace, sewing that teddy bear together, a boogie on her shoulder, the snoring of one monster, the gurgling of another and the sound of Summer of 69 drifting down the stairs towards her.
Iflife was always like this, it would be perfect.
