--Natsu--
I pressed the button for floor three once we got into the elevator and it jerked slightly before it began to ascend. I looked between the doors while we walked down the hallway before stopping at our room. I slid the keycard in and the door clicked, signaling that it had unlocked. We walked in and it was kinda spacious, but I only saw one bed. I felt my cheeks flush lightly, so it was a good thing my back was facing Lucy or she might've seen it.
"Natsu, there's only one bed... And the only other furniture in here is a chair and table." She said while hanging up our new clothes in the closet. I set our duffel bags by the wall before turning to face her.
"I think we'll be okay Luce," I chuckled. "Sleeping in the same bed as me won't kill you." She laughed at my sarcasm and shook her head.
"Alright, you're right. Just make sure you leave enough room for me." She added the last part quickly.
"Who said I was gonna do that?" I grinned. It's not that I would take all of the space on purpose, I was just really bad at sleeping with a minimal amount of space.
"I did, just now." She placed my hands on her hips, leaning her weight onto her right leg. "Do you have a problem with that?" She raised an eyebrow and he shook my head.
"Nope, no problem." I smiled before beginning to unpack. I only took out my hygiene products and a pair of clean underwear, intending to take another shower before the party. I needed to shave, the sandpaper stubble annoying me. I was sitting down for a moment, getting my things together when I heard Lucy's stomach grumble slightly and I laughed.
"Let's get ready to go to this party, you can get some food there," I said as I stood up. She walked towards the closet to grab her dress, but I stopped her. "Luce, when we're there, I want you with me at all times, okay?" I honestly didn't want anything to happen to her, because I've realised that I've somehow developed something more with her. How she managed to wiggle herself into my heart so quickly, I've got no clue, but I wasn't about to let her go. She met my gaze before nodding gently.
"Yeah, I won't leave your side."
I nodded, stepping away from her. "Good. I'm going to take a quick shower and shave before getting dressed." I walked to the bathroom, closing the door and letting out a huge breath. Damn, she better actually listen to me this time. I set my essentials onto the counter before turning on the shower, just needing to rinse off. I turned the dial onto cold, not in the mood for a hot shower.
I was in the middle of washing my body when I heard a knock on the door. "Natsu, let me in, I need to pee."
"Are you sure you wanna come in? You might see me naked." I replied, moving the shower curtain so my head was sticking out, water dripping onto the tile.
"Yes, I'm fucking sure Natsu. Just let me in so I can pee already!" Sheesh, demanding much. I reached over and unlocked the door before slipping back into the shower. The door opened and closed quickly and I could see her silhouette just beyond the white shower curtain. "Turn away! Don't even look at that curtain." She demanded harshly, and I immediately turned to face the wall.
A minute later and the toilet flushed, the rushing water from the sink faucet pelting down along with the shower. "Thank you!" She sang, the door opening and closing once again. I continued to stand there, at a loss for words at what had just happened.
I slowly began to wash my body again before turning off the shower, stepping out and wrapping a towel around my waist. The good thing about cold showers was that they didn't fog up the mirror, so I could see a clear vision of myself. My hair stuck to my stubbled face, dripping off of my body and onto the cold white tiled floor. For a moment, just a small moment, I felt as if I had no idea what I was doing in my life. I quickly shook my head before moving forward towards the sink to begin the process of shaving my face.
It took me a couple of minutes, but my face was eventually free of stubble, officially clean shaven once again for the time being. I removed the towel from my waist, using it to dry my hair a bit. There wasn't enough time to allow it to air dry like I normally did, so I was going to have blow dry it. Good thing there was always one attached to walls in hotels. I pulled on my clean boxers before grabbing the hair dryer off of the wall and dried my hair. I didn't have anything to style it with, so I guess I'd have to with it up in all of it's spiked glory.
I sighed, opening the door to the bathroom to grab my suit. The cold air of the room assaulted me as I stepped out, and I shivered slightly as it hit my bare chest. "Do you need anything else to get ready Luce?" I asked while I opened up the closet and took my suit out.
"No. I don't normally wear makeup and I didn't bring what I do have with me to your place, so I don't have any. I'm just going to go natural."
"Don't you need to put your hair up or something though?"
"Why, does it look bad down?" She fretted, and I mentally swore.
"No! No, it doesn't. I was just wondering in case we might have to make a run for it or something and it got in your face."
"Oh. Yeah, you make a point." She frowned slightly, a look of thought crossing her face. "I'll just braid it and twist that into a bun then." I think she was talking to herself because she had this look of determination written on her face. It was actually pretty cute, but I scurried to get dressed once I realized I had been staring. It's a good thing that Happy was still with Wendy, otherwise he would have undoubtedly teased me about it. I had told him to stay with Wendy until we could find a place to stay when we were at the warehouse. He had refused, but I didn't want him getting hurt. He'd be better off staying with someone else for a little bit.
I sighed at the memory of his crying face. He was still technically a little baby if you got technical with it, but it didn't feel like it. I never liked seeing him cry.
I was buttoning up my shirt, dreading about having to tie my tie. I hated having to tie them, my skills in that area lacking considerably. I eventually had my shirt buttoned all of the way, my hands reaching for the tie to begin putting it on. I moved into the bathroom where Lucy had gone to do her hair so that I could watch myself tie it. I knotted it the wrong way and frowned as I loosened it. I was hopeless if I even tried to do it without a mirror, don't ask me why because I don't know.
"Do you need help with that?" Lucy asked after my third attempt. I sighed, turning to face her with a pleading look.
"Please? I can't tie one of these things to save my life."
She laughed, her heels clicking on the tiled floor as she turned around to face me. "The all mighty Natsu can't even tie a tie?" She asked as she untied the horrible knot I had made, her slender fingers running over the fabric of the tie softly. I gulped, a bit nervous at our close proximity.
"Oi, it's not like I really have many occasions where I actually need to wear one." I grumbled, my cheeks flushing just a bit at her teasing.
"I know. It just surprises me a bit is all." She finished tying my tie, a perfect knot formed. She brought the collar of my shirt down, her heels pushing her up to eye level. "Because I really think you can do anything you set your mind to." She murmured quietly, her eyes reflecting sincerity and a bit of lust.
She looked away a moment later, clearing her throat as she took a step back. "Your hair looks good by the way." I replied randomly, not knowing how to react. I mean that was real hot and all, but that just came out of nowhere and only confused my mind about everything. Was it an accidental moment, or was that moment entirely made from her?
"Really?"
"Yeah." I smiled, adjusting my tie and sleeves. "Are you ready to go? You must be starving by now."
She nodded, a smile forming on her face as well. "Yeah, I am actually."
By the time we had gotten to the revenue, the sun had begun setting, the sky painted a red orange with a mixture of pink and purples. The clouds looked like cotton candy since they took on a hue of pink, and I could feel my stomach growl a bit. I knew I'd have to take it easy on my intake of food; I didn't want to draw attention to myself or Lucy. If anything, we could stop by some place to get food after the party was over.
I parked across the street, the both of us getting out of the car at the same time. I locked the car before we crossed the street, but I stopped Lucy as we reached the driveway. "Wait, you need to look like my date." I held my arm out for her to take.
She looped her arm with mine, a dazzling smile lighting her face. "Okay Mr. Dragneel, shall we go to a party then?" I laughed, the both of us making our way up to the front door. The drive way was a roundabout, the front entrance to the house large and extremely lavish. Pillars surrounded us, the front double doors large and a bit intimidating. Lucy and I both looked at each other, nodding before I opened a door and we entered the mansion like house.
I was immediately blown away by the interior, the marble floors shining brightly and the white walls and chandalier making the room seem larger than it really was. It was pretty damn large anyway, so it just ended up making it look as if it were an extremely lavish cavern. There were people talking in the room, drinks in hand and heels clicking on the floor. Lucy and I walked in, making our way further into the house. I kept an eye out for our mole; I just wanted to get out as quickly as possible. I didn't want to risk getting caught, lest a situtation arises that would push Lucy and her leg too far. I would never hear the end of it if that were to happen.
We both made our way into the main hall, my eyes scanning everywhere to look for our guy. "Natsu, what exactly does he look like?" Lucy asked, leaning in towards my ear so that she wouldn't be overheard.
"Bonde hair, a scar that looks like lightening over his left eye and he's pretty buff."
"Is that him over there?" She nodded her head in the direction she wanted me to look, my head swiveling slightly to see what it was she was seeing. I nodded, changing our direction.
We walked passed a bunch of important looking people to reach Laxus. I recognized a couple of faces and I hoped with everything I had in me that they didn't recognize me. I doubt they'd recognize Lucy since she was a new member to Fairy Tail, but they could most definitely be able to recognize me. Laxus was leaning against a wall, his arms crossed as he watched the party. He was never really one for parties.
Lucy and I walked passed him, and I gave a slight nod of my head as we continued to walk forward and into an empty hallway. It was about five minutes of silence before Laxus showed up, standing in front of us with his arms crossed. "Who's that?" He asked, an eyebrow raised as he nodded his head in Lucy's direction.
"This is Lucy Syncole, she's a new member." I answered, and she gave him a smile.
His eyes narrowed a bit before he reached into his suit jacket and handed me a mini manilla envelope. I grabbed it quickly and in one swift motion, placed it in my own suit jacket. "The lot of you need to be more careful. They're not going to hold back and will stop at nothing now that the reward has been raised."
"Reward? What reward?" Lucy asked, and Laxus looked her in the eye.
"The reward for his daughter, Lucy Heartfilia. He's not gonna stop at anything to get her." He exlpained, and I looked at Lucy, curious about her reaction. Her skin paled, and I pursed my lips. She definitely knew something about this. But what?
"If they're after her, then why are they attacking Fairy Tail?" I asked after a moment.
"'Cause they're in the way. Just be careful." He turned on his heel before walking back into the party, pulling on his suit jacket as he readjusted it.
I looked at Lucy, her skin still pale, the color slowly coming back. I knew she knew I was looking at her, but she chose to ignore it. It was only a couple of minutes did we decide to leave, the two of us briskly walking through the throng of people. We were at the front doors, ready to walk out when shit hit the fan. I heard a gun shot, the wood just above my head exploding in the spot the bullet had hit.
"Shit! We gotta go Luce." I exclaimed pushing her out the door just as the sound of another gun rang out, a bullet lodging itself in the wood where her head had been only moments ago. I quickly ran out the door, picking up Lucy and throwing her over my shoulder before sprinting towards the car.
"What are you doing?!" She screeched and I could feel her hands on my back as she tried to steady herself.
"Running away! You're not allowed to run yet so I'm carrying you!" I exclaimed, reaching for my keys in my pocket to unlock the car. While I was doing that, I felt her lift the back of my jacket up and take the gun I had placed in the waist band of my pants. I didn't have time to yell at her before she fired, the shots ringing loudly. "Shit, Lucy, why'd you do that?! We weren't supposed to do anything." I set her down, opening the back door and tossing her in before getting into the drivers seat.
"They had theirs drawn first." She argued. I grunted in response, turning on the car and peeling out. The tires squealed and the rubber burned as I drove away. I sighed, hoping that nothing more was going to happen. Erza would be so pissed at us, but in our defense, we were only trying not to die.
I could hear Lucy cursing in the back, probably at the fact that she didn't have the chance to put on a seat belt before I peeled out. She must've hit her head on the seat or something. Whoops. "Natsu, they're following us." I looked at my review mirror, swearing when I saw a pair of headlights gaining on us and the flash of and booming of gun fire. I pushed the pedal further, my car lurching as we picked up speed.
"Hold on Luce, and you might wanna buckle up for safety."
