Case 1B Part 2

*Manga Pov*

"Okay newbie, so the first thing we do is shut off all the accounts and inform the victim of what we're doing, correct?" Sasori asked.

"Correct. I would like to pay her a visit while we do this, if that's okay with you," I told him.

"It would be wise if we did so. We need to ask questions and it's better to do that while we have the chance," Sasori nodded and began to write something down.

"So, are we all going then?" I asked. Sasori shook his head, ripped the note off of it's pad and handed it to me.

"You and Kisame are going to go, I'm going to call the banks and stores that she usually goes to. I would only make you go, but just in case there's trouble, it's best to have the both of you," Sasori explained, taking out his phone.

"Thank you Sasori-senpai. I'll try not to take long," I promised.

"Good. Now go, I'm going to start now so you should to....yes, hello this is the Akatsuki...." Sasori started to talk to whoever he called and I felt someone's hand go around my shoulder. I looked up to see Kisame grinning at me.

"So Kouhai, ready to go?" Kisame asked. I nodded.

*fifteen minutes later*

"This is the place, right?" Kisame asked. I nodded.

"The address it the same one Sasori-senpai gave me. The victim's name is Shadow Moonpool," I nodded, pointing to the slip of paper Sasori had given me. Kisame leaned over to look at the note and nodded.

"Yeah, this is the right place. Okay, so, go knock on the door Kouhai," Kisame instructed.

"Okay?" I looked at him weirdly and went to the door, knocking on it twice.

"Who is it?" A voice spoke behind the door. It sounded female.

"It's the Akatsuki ma'am. We're here to talk to you about the identity theft," I told her. The door opened up a crack and I could see half of her face....it was kind of creepy considering I read scary stories like this.

"Prove it," she demanded. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my badge, showing it to her.

"We're just going to ask a few questions, tell you what we're doing to try to catch the person, and we'll be on our way," I told her. There was a moment of hesitation before the door was opened and you could see her clearly.

"Come in, I want to end this quickly," she motioned for me to go inside and at that moment Kisame ran up to us.

"Sorry for making you go first kouhai, but one time I knocked on a door and this woman started to choke me...." Kisame laughed nervously and I smiled. That sounded kind of sad, but it also sounded really funny.

"It's fine Kisame-senpai...this is Ms.Moonpool," I told him, motioning towards Moonpool.

"Please just call me Shadow. Okay, let's go inside now, I don't want someone to notice that you're here. Word gets around easily in this neighborhood," Shadow dragged us into the house, locking the door behind her. I noticed that her curtains were shut and not a single light was on, unless you counted the light coming from a laptop on her desk.

"You live like a vampire," Kisame bluntly commented. I glared at him and he shrugged.

"He doesn't mean that. He knows that you're dealing with hard stuff right now, right Kisame-senpai?" I turned to him and he raised an eyebrow at me before he caught on and nodded furiously.

"Yeah, it's a really great place actually. The darkness helps others think that you're not home," Kisame coughed, and Shadow rolled her eyes.

"This neighborhood is bad, okay? Especially if you are almost broke. Besides, I'm an insomniac and if I keep the lights off then I might get at least a few minutes rest before I wake back up," Shadow told us, falling onto the couch.

"You should get some help for that," Kisame pointed out.

"Right, okay Ms.Moonpool-" I started out.

"Shadow. Please, I just want to be called Shadow," she interrupted. I sighed.

"Shadow, we are deactivating your accounts so that they cannot be used. This way we can catch the person who's trying to steal your identity, so it's important that you lay low for a while. We called your boss and told him the police said that he has to pay you for a few days off until we could catch the thief. I hope you're okay with this," I told her.

"Sure. I already have enough food for me in here, and who wouldn't want a few paid days off?" Shadow smiled.

"We're going to need your signature here," Kisame shoved a notepad and pen at her and she wrote her name in print and cursive.

"Is this for a specific reason?" she asked.

"We have our own ways of doing things ma'am," I told her.

"Shadow," she corrected.

"Right, Shadow. We have a few questions for you while we're here though," I told her. She nodded.

"Ask away," she leaned back and closed her eyes.

"When did you start to notice that your identity was being stolen?" Kisame asked.

"I started noticing when I was going through my bills. There were things that I had never even heard of in there. It started out as small things, like gum that I never used, or an extra gallon of milk that I knew I didn't get, but then it moved onto expensive things like a chainsaw and a couch even," Shadow frowned.

"Have you any idea who the person could be?" I asked. Shadow shook her head.

"I don't get out much. Like I said, this neighborhood isn't good," she reminded me.

"Do you think anyone in this neighborhood did something?" Kisame asked, taking notes.

"No way. This neighborhood may not be the best, but we never pick on each like that. If anyone ever did that here than you would have the whole neighborhood on their a**," she told us. I nodded.

"Do you know anyone that doesn't like you? Maybe is jealous of you at work or from high school or something?" I asked. Shadow thought about it for a second.

"Eh. I had a lot of people who didn't exactly agree with me, but they weren't bad people. They wouldn't do something like this, trust me. As for work....no. I'm on good terms with everyone there," Shadow shrugged.

"So far we don't have a lot of evidence. Are you sure you don't have any idea who it could be?" Kisame asked.

"I swear I don't. If I did I would have already told you, I'm the one almost bankrupt here," Shadow told us.

"Right...we're going to need a list of all the things that the person had bought that you hadn't, and be honest because we can find out for ourselves if you're lying or not," I warned and she snickered.

"Like I would lie to a cop. That's stupid, besides I'm not afraid of paying for stuff I earned. Here," Shadow tossed a piece of folded paper to me. I caught it and put it in my pocket.

"Is there anything you'd like to ask us?" Kisame asked, standing up.

"When you find the person can you contact me before you put them in jail? I want to get my anger out on them, if that's okay with you two," Shadow asked.

"Sure. I'd want to do the same thing if I was in your position," Kisame shrugged. He put his notes away in his pocket and tossed his pen over to me. Wait a minute....this was my pen. How did he get this?

"Would you like to press charges after this?" I asked her.

"What do you think?" Shadow asked.

"So h*** yes?" Kisame asked and she nodded.

"Thank you, we'll contact you if we have any leads on the matter," I nodded to her before we left and headed to the car. When we were in the car I glared at Kisame.

"What?" he asked.

"Kisame-senpai, how did you steal my pen without me noticing?" I asked.

"I snuck up behind you and took it from your pocket when you were talking with Sasori, Manga-kouhai," Kisame explained, grinning.

"That's creepy. You could have just asked for it," I told him.

"I felt like being a ninja," Kisame shrugged and started up the car. I felt my phone ring and I answered it.

"Are you and Kisame done yet?" Sasori asked.

"How did you get my number?" I asked.

"I got it from Pein," Sasori responded. Of course he did.

"Yeah, Kisame-senpai and I just finished up here, we have a few notes and I have a list in my pocket. We'll be there in fifteen," I told him.

"Hey kouhai, I skipped lunch. Can we stop for tacos?" Kisame whispered.

"We will be there in twenty minutes," I corrected.

"Hurry up. I want to end this case quickly. I'm going to go eat while I wait. I didn't think we would skip lunch for a case as stupid as this," Sasori grumbled.

"Okay Sasori-senpai. Bye," I hung up and Kisame grinned at me, ruffling my hair up a bit.

"Thanks kouhai...now let's go eat!" Kisame-senpai turned the sirens on and I shook my head.

"I don't think cops are allowed to turn sirens on just to go get a taco," I sighed. I really hope Sam hasn't beaten anyone up yet.
