The boy she screamed at said back, "Yeah, and you have horns." "Wait what." Pearl reached up and felt two spikey thingies on the top of her head. She screamed in fear and fell to the floor. "Thorn, what is this place." A security guard came by and Thorn asked him, "Should I tell her." "Sure, why not." The guard responded. "Okay Pearl, don't freak out or anything when I tell you this, ok," "ok." "This place is a facility where we do tests on teenagers by implanting them with a crystal or some form of genetic mutation." "Wait what. Don't you ask for consent before you do it." "No. No one would ever agree to do it." "Well that's just messed up. Like seriously, don't you care about us." "Yes we do. We take very good care of you all." "Can I just eat in my bed." "Sure, if it helps to relieve your stress. But first let me grab your sign-up pages." "Fine." Thorn rushed over to a door, opened it, and went inside. He came back out within 30 seconds. Thorn walked back to Pearl and handed her the papers. "I'll bring your food to your room in like, 15 minutes." "Okay, thanks Thorn." "You're welcome. But do you remember the way back to your room." "Yeah I'll be fine. See you in a bit." "Yep, bye." Pearl pushed open the doors and exited the cafeteria. She continued walking down the hall with Flametail at her side. "Oh, Flametail. What should I do." Pearl asked her little creature. "Chir-up." Flametail squeaked. "Yeah I guess I can't under stand you." Pearl picked him up in her arms. "Let's get going." She continued walking down the hall until she saw the dorm room doors. She pushed them open and saw Thorn sitting by her bed. "What took you so long." Thorn asked. "Uhh, how did you get here so fast." "You'll learn soon enough. How 'bout you eat while I explain some things to you. Okay." "Okay." Pearl sat down and started eating. "I should probably tell you something about Flametail first." "What is it." "Well, a few of the pet keepers told me that Flametail might not be able to fly." "Wait what, seriously." "Yes it's true. But they said if you trained him twice a day he might have a chance." "Question. Why is Flametail not able to fly?" "They told me that his one wing is a little shorter than the other." "Okay, that's fine. I'll do whatever it takes to help him." "I thought you might say that. You finish your dinner and afterwards come meet me in the hiking room with Flametail." "Okay see you then." "Yep." Thorn exited the room and went down the hall. "Don't worry Flametail. I'll make sure that you can fly." Flametail spun and jumped in the air with happy squeak. "You're so cute." She said while scratching behind his horns. She finished her meal and placed the plate on the bedside table. She opened a drawer and found a water bottle filled with water. "Should probably take this." She opened another drawer and found a drawstring back to put everything in. She placed the bottle in her bag and continued to go through her drawers. In her cabinet she found some running shoes. "Yes, new shoes." She slipped them on and started to walk down the room to the door. "Flametail, come." Flametail came bouncing down the hallway towards her.
