Chapter 1
Crystal's POV
BEEP! BEEEP! BEEEEP!
My alarm clock went off loudly. I groaned and attempted to turn off my alarm clock. I slammed my hand on the snooze button multiple times, but it didn't work. I started to get frustrated. I opened my eyes and pulled out the plug-in cord. Luckily, it had stopped. After a few seconds of laying down, I finally got up.
Today was my first day of Kaspersky High School. I just moved from Texas to New York. Honestly, I really missed Texas.
I took a quick shower, making sure I thoroughly washed my brown hair. I quickly threw on a beige sweater type thing and ripped blue jeans after I had dried off. I pulled my hair into a quick side braid and ran downstairs.
"Good Luck, Crys!" Stephanie, my guardian called.
I liked to call her Aunt Stephanie because she loved and took care of me. Technically, she was my distant cousin, but she might've well been an aunt. I grabbed an apple, slipped on my gray converse, and rushed out the door.
I waited for the bus at my bus stop. After what seemed like forever, it finally arrived. It was loud, but some kids were still sleeping. Girls chatted away with their friends and boys horsed around. I almost got hit in the face with a spit ball, but I quickly dodged it.
I moved to the back of the bus and sat in an empty seat. I sat there and read a book until a girl nudged me. She had dark red, wavy hair in a ponytail. Her eyes were green with a lighter ring around the iris.
"Hey can I sit here? There's nowhere else to sit." She asked.
I moved my backpack. "Sure."
She smiled and sat down. "By the way, I'm Lilith Taylor. Are you new here? I've never seen you before."
I smiled warmly. "Yeah, I'm new. I just moved here from Texas. My name is Crystal Clearwater. But call me Crys."
"So, you like it here Crys?"
I nodded. "It's so different from Texas. I miss the rolling land and clear skies."
Lilith nodded. "Must've been nice. I used to live in New Orleans, but I moved here."
Lilith and I chatted until we arrived at school. She is really nice. Turns out, she never really knew her father, and her mom died. She lives with her aunt now, much like me. We tried getting off the bus, but the kids nearly trampled us to the ground.
"You okay?" Lilith asked.
"Yeah, I'm going to head up to the office." I replied, dusting myself off.
~~~
"May I help you?" A monotone voice came from a lady with a tight bun.
"Yes. I'm a transfer student. Could I have my schedule please?" I said.
"Name." She said in the same monotone voice.
"Crystal Clearwater."
The robot- uh, I mean- lady handed me a schedule.
"Thank you."
I walked outside the office studying my schedule.
I was so busy studying I didn't notice someone right in front of me. Being the clumsy self I am, I ran straight into them. I dropped my books.
"Damn clumsiness... I am very sorry about that! I was so distracted, I didn't-"
I was cut off by chuckling. "Its okay."
I brushed a strand of brown hair behind my ear before I look up into chocolate brown eyes.
