Chapter 3: Diamond
I soon awoke from my sleep. I jumped out of bed and fixed it. Though, I haven't remembered much and I'm pretty sure I haven't dreamt of anything. I realized it's already Monday as I immediately ran to the bathroom, hastily turning on the shower and ignoring the cold.
Soon after I finished taking a shower, I immediately wore my uniform and headed downstairs. I'm pretty sure my sister went to work but, She left breakfast for me. I ate it hastily, almost choking myself but, I managed to keep myself alive...Somehow.
After eating, I grabbed my packed lunch and my bag as I ran outside, locking the doors and windows of each room in the house before I go out. I locked the front door after the back door as I kept the keys in my bag while running towards the direction of the academy I'm currently studying in, Seimei Academy.
After a few mintes of running, I finally reached the Academy. I stood infront, panting. I soon regained my energy and ran towards my classroom. There are still a lots of students around the campus. Some are with their groups of friends and best friends. But, some are loners. I pushed through the crowd of students that I encountered in the hallway.
I never knew that Monday is this busy. Shocking. Especially, to the fact that this Academy is not that crowded as it is before. I finally got out of the crowd that I was stuck into and ran upstairs. Honestly, I hate the fact that they didn't have any elevators around here especially for the ones that the classrooms are located in the fourth floor, like me.
After a few floors and a few minutes of running and pushing through the crowd, I finally reached the fourth floor. My legs are already aching and It feels like I'm running out of breath but, It's a good thing that our classroom is just near the stairway. I managed to stand up and walk inside, panting in tiredness.
I sat on my chair. It's a good thing that it's still early. I hate coming to school late because the teachers are so strict and if they get mad, they'll give you awful punishments. Well, except for our Adviser, Miss Annika. Though, She can be strict when you first meet her but, She's very sweet once you get to know her.
The school bell rang which reminded the students to settle down on their respective places. When all the other students had settled down, Our Adviser arrived. " Alright, Class. Please open your textbooks to page one hundred ninety six. " She instructed as everyone including me, followed. I was just looking at the window by the moment that she's already discussing.
I'd be honest, She's a 'nice' teacher but, with a boring subject. But, it's sometimes the best subject since She lets us sleep during her classes sometimes. I continued to stare at the window. The sky is just with its natural blue color. I, then suddenly saw a figure of a girl, standing outside the window. Her appearance is the same as the girl I met yesterday. I rubbed my eyes as I looked at the window again. She's gone. I'm sure if it was just an illusion or is it really real but, that girl gave me the shivers. The bell rang which caught my attention. " Class dismissed. " Miss Annika said as The other students went out of the classroom with their group of friends but, some remained inside.
I sighed, standing up as I went to the Cafeteria. It was a miracle that the hallway isn't crowded like before. No, Not really that crowded. I slowly stepped down the stairs, which led to the first floor of the building and to my surprise, not much students were there. Well, I completely understand why. There was a new Cafe that opened nearby and almost everyone here doesn't want to miss the grand opening. Oh, and Cafeterias aren't really my thing. Don't ask why, You may think that it's an invalid reason for me to dislike Cafeterias. I went to the fountain, which is located at the center of the campus. Not much students like staying out here ever since that incident happened. I sat down on the bench which is located under the shades of the cherry blossom tree.
I unpacked my lunch box and opened it. I smiled as I started to eat my lunch. Being alone isn't that bad when you get used to it. You can have time to read your favorite book in peace while also enjoying the solemnity of your surroundings, right? Well, not saying that it's fun. It's just not bad.
-I mean, having friends around you isn't bad either. It's your choice to socialize or not. Well, I do have friends so don't think I'm a loner.
"Hiro-kun!!"
....I looked around to see who that was. Then a smile formed on my face. "Hiromasa Akasuki-san!" I greeted her. "It's been a long time." She said with a small pout. "Oh and didn't I told you to call me Aka-san?" She asked as She put her hands on her waist. I chuckled, scratching my cheek. "S-Sorry, Aka-san.." I apologized as She put her hands down. She just smiled and sat down beside me. "It's fine. Just don't forget that, alright?" She asked with a small smile. I continued to ate my lunch, nodding at the same time. I looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "Have you ate lunch?" I asked her. She then nodded as She looks at the sky.
I finished my lunch as I also looked at the sky. "The weather sure looks nice today, right?" I looked at her but, She was just focusing her gaze on the sky. "Yeah, it is. It's almost summer after all." She replied with a smile. The bell then suddenly rang as I stood up. "Seems like it's time to go home.." I said, packing my lunch box. "That fast?" She questioned as She looked at me. "Couldn't do anything about the schedule." I replied with a sigh.
"I guess so-" She paused then stood up. "-Will I meet you again?" She added with a little bit of a worried tone. I smiled as I looked at her. "Who knows? Sometimes, The world is a small place. We may meet again.." I replied as She smiled at me. "Yeah, maybe.." She mumbled.
I grabbed my bag as I put it on my back. "I need to go now....C'ya!" I said before waving her goodbye. "See you around, Haji-kun!" She replied, waving me goodbye. We both flashed a smile before I ran off and outside the school. I soon arrived in the alley, where I saw that girl. I suddenly heard some crying noises nearby.
I searched around for the noise and found out it was behind the garbage. I looker behind the garbage and saw that girl, who I saw at school and here, at this alley. I dropped my bag carefully before patting her head. She then stopped crying as She looked at me with her silver eyes. "Why are you here?..." She questioned me.
"Uh....I-I just heard you crying while I was walking here.." I replied, slowly sitting beside her. She moved away a little, now facing down while wiping her tears. "W-What's wrong? Maybe I could help." I questioned her, smiling a little bit. "Predators.." She mumbled.
"Predators?" My expression suddenly turned blank. She then nodded. "It's weird to hear for humans like you...Have you ever heard of the Crystal Predators?" Oh, that's the old tale that was meant to make children stay inside their homes at night. I just nodded in response. "It's a tale from the old times, which was meant to make children stay inside their homes at night. There were also rumors that it's not just a tale but, a fact. Nobody knows if it's really true or not..." I added before looking at her again.
She was looking at me with a blank expression. "You could've just said Yes or no rather than explaining all the information you know, but thank you for that information, I guess." She said as She looked down again. "Oh by the way, My name's Hiroyuki Saburo. They mostly call me Hiroyuki or Hiro." I introduced myself with a smile. "Call me....Dia." She replied with a small smile. I was somehow disappointed that she isn't Prism. She does look exactly like her. Maybe she's her twin or maybe she's lying?
Who in the world knows? I'll find out sooner or later.
I stood up as I got my bag. "I need to go now." I said with a sigh. "Heading home?" She asked. I looked at her then nodded. She looked back at me with a small smile. "It's nice to get to know you, Dia." I said, smiling back at her. She hugged her knees as She leaned on the garbage. I was about to walk away when I suddenly realized. "Do you have a place to stay?" I asked her.
She shook her head as She sighed. "I left my home.." She added, still hugging her knees. "W-Why?" I asked her. "You'll find out soon..." She replied with a sigh. "Alright, I guess.." It's somehow unusual for me to meet someone who would leave their home without a reason. I was about to walk then I stopped and looked at her. She was still with her lonely look, avoiding eye contact as She was still hugging her knees.
"Hey, Dia.." I called her. She looked at me with a small smile. "Yes?" She replied. "Are you gonna still be here tomorrow?" I asked with a slightly curious tone. She shrugged, sighing. "No one knows. Maybe I would take a stroll around the place." She replied, smiling at me. I just smiled back at her before walking away.
I wouldn't mind if I brought her to my place and let her live there but, Kasumi would be mad if she her. Kasumi doesn't really like people staying there unless if it's our relatives. I soon stopped infront of the front door of our house as I rummaged in my bag, finally finding the keys after a few seconds.
I used the keys to unlock the door as I went inside, slamming the door shut afterwards. I sighed before throwing myself onto the couch. "What a tiring day.." I mumbled to myself. I suddenly remember what Dia told me. Crystal Predators, huh?
It's been a long time since I had heard that. I wonder if people still know the story of that. Taking a deep breath, I buried my face on my bag. There was so many questions in my mind but, it's getting me tired.
Speaking of getting me tired, I just yawned and looked around. No one's still here...Not even Kasumi. I buried my face on my bag again. If I fall asleep, I'm sure Kasumi would wake me up for dinner.
Yawning once again, I slowly hugged my bag as I fell asleep.
