Twenty-Seven

Second Year,
Miss Burke.

As Spring flourished she took advantage of the warmer air, choosing to study by the lake. The calming sounds of the water, and birds singing their sing-song, were enough to set her mind at ease with her exams creeping closer.

She was as prepared as she could be, though there was no harm in brushing up her knowledge. When she had her minor vision, so short she wasn't sure if they were visions or just her imagination. She would believe she missed some things in class despite her professor's going through the lesson with her after.

The only lesson she never stayed behind in was Potions, Professor Snape was exactly the most approachable person. If she hoped to be prepared for her potions exam she'd need his help, she waited for his class to finish, going through in her mind what she would say. She kept her head down, as his sixth-year class left for their next class.

She had roughly 20 minutes until his next class would appear she cautiously opened the door. Ingredients floated back to their shelves while Professor Snape, sat at his desk going over some of their papers, clearly not impressed with their results.

"Second years don't have potions today Miss Black,"

"I know, I was just wondering - if I - erm - if I might be able to do extra credit," he looked up from his desk.

"Why do you assume you need extra credit?" he asked, she tucked her hair behind her ears.

"I don't think I'm good at Potions and I don't want to fail my exam if I can't perfect my practical exam,"

"You're one of few students who accurately brew the finest potions, I don't believe it's necessary to have extra credit, now if you don't mind I have a class to prepare for," she walked towards the door, halting her stride when she worked up the courage.

"It's my visions professor, I can't concentrate, and I don't want to lose out on a good grade because I couldn't focus in class," he stood from his desk gesturing for her to follow, he handed her two books, marking a few pages for her to study.

"These are the potions, I'll be covering leading up to exams,"

"Thank you, so much," she smiled at him as she walked towards the door.

"You're welcome Miss Burke," she froze wondering if it realised what he'd called her. "Miss Black," he spoke realising his error.

"Did you know my mum well at school?" she asked softly.

"Yes, she always had time for her fellow Slytherins, though many were not worthy of her friendship, myself being one of them, the Burkes have quite a reputation on the Slytherin Wall of Fame, it's shame none of you could see it,"

"I'm sorry you don't talk anymore,"

"Old friends can easily become strangers, Miss Black," he gestured for her to leave as his class was beginning to line up outside.

"Again, thank you for this," she said, patting the book,

"That is my original copy I would like it back," she nodded as left the classroom.

She noted the time, she promised Laura and Cedric she'd watch their quidditch game against Gryffindor. She hoped that Rhea and Ethan understood Cedric was her friend and she spent more time with Laura than she did her older cousin and sister.

She made her way to the Quidditch Stands, however, she didn't make it in time to wish them both good luck. Phoebe decided to sit with the Gryffindors as then she could support everyone, Ethan and Rhea physically, while she supported Cedric and Laura emotionally.

She creased her brows when she saw Rhea walking through the stands 'she wasn't playing, why wouldn't she be playing?' she saw her smiling at the boy commentating the game, he commentated for all the Gryffindor Games.

"What are you smiling at?" she asked,

"Nothing, I'm happy Ethan gets to play against Laura," she said, eagerly looking for Laura flying around.

"Yes, she's been looking forward to it for a while now," She smiled when she saw two players with the names. Burke and Diggory, she pointed them out to Rhea.

"Would you want to stay in my dorm with me?" Rhea asked, she never expected Rhea to ask for her company.

"You sure, I don't really know your friends."

"Well, it'll be a good chance to get to know them, wouldn't it?" she smiled at her, lowering her head.

"Is it okay if Laura comes too?" she asked

"Yes it'd be great to hang out with you both, I know we kind of drifted away recently, but you're my sister, and I love you, you can always talk to me, I hope you know that,"

"I do know that Ri, it's just I get myself into a good place and I often forget there are others around, so I apologise if I haven't seen you, Laura or Ethan as much,"

"No I get it, I've not known how to approach you after New Year," her body tensed the thought of that night, the screaming the agonising fear running through her. "Sorry, I don't mean to bring it up it's just, everyone's so worried about you,"

"I appreciate it, Rhea, I just want to forget I ever saw that vision, it would probably take my mind off it, spending some time with you,"

She thoroughly believed that she would have a good time with her sister in Gryffindor common room. She hoped that Laura would join her, just in case Rhea got a little too distracted by her friends, forgetting that she was there.
