Eighteen

Second Year,
Secretly Support You

Phoebe woke up with a smile on her face, she didn't feel at all nervous about Hogwarts this time. She didn't like the idea of leaving Moon at home, she knew that dogs were not allowed at Hogwarts. She spent all morning playing with the puppy, she even skipped breakfast to spend the extra bit of time with him. She snuggled him, as he licked her face.

"Mum promise me, you'll take care of him,"

"What do you think we're going to do lose him?" her father commented, "besides, we're all going to pitch in aren't we,"

"Yeah, Hades and I said we'd walk him,"

"No offence but, I'd rather Dad take him to work with him, than have you two lose him in the streets,"

"Give him here," Aimee took the puppy from her, "I'll write to you every couple of weeks telling you how he is okay," she nodded, smiling at the little fluffball, "now go fetch your trunk downstairs,"

She left to bring her trunk downstairs, she was glad to see Kreacher hopping towards her, he clicked his fingers. Levitating the trunk down the stairs for her, she thanked him as he walked downstairs with her, Ethan had already left for the station, he planned to meet his friends for a little while before their needed to board the train.

This meant that her father, had to take Rhea and Laura to the station. As soon as they reached the platform she searched for Cedric. She smiled as he hurried over to her, she ran towards him, he wrapped his arms around her.

"How's Moon?"

"He's fine, he didn't cry when I left but my mum probably kept him busy," she told him, Cedric looked behind her.

"It's Cedric right," her father asked

"Yes, Mr Black, it's good to see you again," Sirius had to admit there wasn't a thing he didn't like about the boy he seemed perfectly friendly and well-mannered.

"Have fun at school, I'm going to find your sister before she leaves,"

"Love you, dad," she hugged him tightly, he kissed the top of her head,

As she hurried onto the train with Cedric they searched for a compartment, once they found one they sat in silence for a moment. He excused himself to get them some sweets from the trolley lady, he came back not long after being unable to find her.

"Are you going to try out for Quidditch," she asked

"Yes, I've been practising a lot, I hope to try out for seeker, it's Louisa Parker I've got to impress, I've heard she's fair but has high standards for the Quidditch team,"

"I don't think she's that bad, Laura says she's great, I think she's trying for chaser,"

"Are you sure you aren't trying out," he asked

"Yes, I'll fall off my broom, within the first couple of minutes," he laughed at her, she shoved him, "It's not funny, I have zero balance on them,"

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh, I just love how you assume you'll never get better, practise make perfect you know,"

"I suppose, but Quidditch just isn't my thing, I'd rather go to duelling club instead, I'll always come to the games though, and support you,"

"Even if Ravenclaw is also playing," she pursed her lips,

"I'll secretly support you,"

As she sat in the Great Hall, she and Cedric sat with their backs to each other at their respected house tables. They watched as the new first years were sorted into their house, Cedric reached his hand across to her, tugging her robe, she turned to him.

"You're doing it again," she smiled at him,

"Thank you," she whispered, "do you have to be back in your dorm tonight?"

"Not really why?"

"I want to show you something," she said smiling at him,

As the Start-of-Term feast came to an end the prefects lead the new first-years to their dormitories, Cedric waited outside the Great hall for her. As she linked his arm with hers as she guided him out into the field, they walked up a steep hill, both out of breath by the time they got to the top.

"A willow tree you wanted to show me a willow tree?"

"No silly, turn around," she said, when he did he couldn't believe the view before him.

Hogwarts appeared totally different from her, you could everything, from the Quidditch stadium to the Greenhouses. The dark of night made the school look like a castle from a fantasy novel, with candlelight flickering throughout the halls and windows.

"How did you know to come up here?" he asked, she leaned on the tree trunk, looking at an engraving on the tree.

"My mother had a boyfriend before she dated my dad, he loved and he made sure this place was hers," she moved away showing him the engraving.

"Burke's Place"

"Why'd they break up?"

"I don't know, she is still really good friends with him, in fact, my brother Carden is named after him, sounds a little strange naming your son after an ex, doesn't it,"

"Not if they were genuinely friends it doesn't,"

"I thought this could be my new place if I ever needed to get away for whatever reason,"

"Then why did you show me," she smiled at him

"So you can always find me if I go missing," he laughed at her,

"I'm sorry that's not funny," he said, he opened his arms to her, she hugged him, he rested his chin on her head, "I might not understand a lot about your gift, but if you ever need someone to talk to about them, I'm here,"

"I don't expect you to understand-

"I've been doing a little reading since you told me, the least I could do is find ways to help you cope, I can see you struggle sometimes,"

"Thank you, Cedric, you don't understand how much that means to me,"

"You're my friend, I'll always find a way to help you,"
