Chapter Two: Evil Dies Tonight
Crystal eventually got dropped off at home by some guy in a Ute driving past the entrance to the driveway. She flagged him down and hopped in, he didn't question what was happening and just drove her home.
Laurie, Karen and Allyson got out of the house alive after it went up in flames. Laurie had got herself stabbed and had to go to hospital.
Once the house stopped burning the police arrived to find ten dead firefighters.
Michael wasn't found among the wreckage.
Midnight Halloween 2018:
Crystal sings along to her music as she waits for her noodles to be ready.
Crystal's at home alone because her parents are off on their one year anniversary. Her mother finally found someone who wasn't an abusive jerk and she was happy for her. Crystal has already been alone in the house for about a week and a half before tonight.
The microwave beeps and flashes signalling that the noodles were ready. Crystal grins and opens the microwave; the smell of chicken noodles hits her face and she takes the bowl out. Crystal sets the bowl on the counter and takes out her earphones. She grabs a fork and puts it in the bowl.
Crystal then scans her patch and sees her glucose levels are at a good level, she then checks the noodle packet for the carbohydrates. She puts the values into her insulin calculator and gets a reasonable amount. Crystal puts the value in her logbook and grabs her insulin pen and a needle. She puts the needle on the end of the pen and primes it, the insulin spurts out of the needle and leaves a weird smell in the air. Crystal then dials up the dose and lifts her shirt and tries to find a spot to put the needle in her stomach but pauses as she notices a chill in the air.
Crystal injects herself then disposes of the needle in the sharps bin. Crystal walks towards the front door to check if it was open. It wasn't. She then checks the windows around and scratches her head in confusion. Then she decides to check the backdoor.
Crystal enters the laundry room and finds the door open, a bloody three fingered handprint on the doorframe. Crystal pales and shuts the door. There's someone in the house...
Crystal takes a shaky breath and re-enters the main part of the house. She could hear breathing and clinking of metal utensil on China in the kitchen. Crystal opens the hall closet and grabs her stepdad's old softball bat. She poses at the doorway and takes a peek only to drop the bat in sheer terror.
The figure before her turns around with her bowl of noodles and a surprised expression on his charred face.
"MICHAEL?!" Crystal yells with fear and surprise.
Michael puts the bowl down and shushes her. He grabs her by the shoulders and silently pleads for her to stop freaking out.
Crystal then notices one of his hands didn't have all five fingers and she looks down at the three fingered hand grabbing her shoulder then looks back up into Michael's concerned eyes.
Michael lets go of her in panic, he doesn't know what to do. He takes a few steps from the girl and tries to think of ways to calm her down. "Shitshitshit..." he mutters under his breath.
Crystal points at Michael, "Did... Did you j-just speak?"
Michael pauses and stares at her as she gets herself under control before his very eyes. He didn't realise he spoke out loud. It's been about eleven years since he last spoke, he was perplexed at the sound of his own voice.
"I-I know I heard something..." Crystal steps closer to Michael and he backs up against the kitchen counter. She then remembers what Michael was doing and steps back, "If you wanted food, you could have just asked me instead of... y'know breaking into my house..." she gives him a small smile.
Michael looks behind him to see his damaged mask and the half-eaten bowl of noodles. He picks up the bowl and continues to eat with a guilty expression.
"Sorry about freaking out... I-I just thought that you were dead..." Crystal says. "Wait... Wait... Wait... What happened to you?" Crystal takes notice of the blood on his three-fingered hand and his half-burned face.
Michael opens his mouth to try and speak again but instead he coughs and puts the bowl down.
"I'll get you some lozenges and water," Crystal speeds off to a cabinet to fetch a glass and some lozenges. She reappears with a glass of water and a lozenge, "Good for the throat."
Michael carefully takes the items and drinks some water, then he unwraps the lozenge and shoves it in his mouth.
"I'm guessing the fire dried you up?" Crystal giggles.
Michael rolls his eyes with a huff and he drinks the rest of the water. He then looks at his left hand and how he haphazardly wrapped it up in bandages.
"Looks like I need to fix you up, huh?" Crystal asks.
Michael nods slowly with a growl.
"Oh! I need food before I crash and burn," Crystal says.
Crystal grabs out another instant noodle packet and boils some water in the kettle. She opens the noodle packet and dumps the block into a bowl and waits for the kettle to boil. Crystal looks outside the kitchen window above the sink at the road outside where a police car is doing a patrol. The kettle finishes boiling and Crystal pours some hot water into the bowl and puts the bowl in the microwave for two minutes.
The two stand there in silence and stare at each other awkwardly. Michael nods at the microwave with squinted eyes. Crystal snaps out of her trance and shakes her head with a 'heh' and says: "I need to eat within thirty minutes after injecting my insulin or I'll go into a coma. I-I thought I told you that before?"
Michael's eyes widen in concern and instantly feels stupid for stealing her food.
"I guess you're losing your memory old man."
Michael rolls his eyes.
The microwave beeps and Crystal grabs a fork. She opens the microwave and takes the bowl out. She sticks the fork into the bowl and starts to eat her noodles.
Michael looks down at his now empty bowl with a sad frown and puts it in the sink. He notices the bright yellow sharps container; he peers inside to see needles. He catches whiff of a strange smell from within and tilts his head.
"That's where I put the needles from my injections. It probably smells funky from insulin... and maybe a bit of blood."
Michael straightens back up and watches as Crystal slurps up the rest of her noodles, a bit of sauce getting on her nose. She wipes the sauce off her nose with a hand towel and puts the bowl in the sink.
"Come on big guy," Crystal gently grabs Michael's good hand and leads him to the bathroom upstairs. Michael sits on a chair and watches as Crystal looks through the cabinets for a first aid kit. She finds it behind the spare shampoo and grabs the First Aid kit, "Got it!" she puts it on the counter and opens it up. She finds some bandages and gauze. "Alright... sorry if this stings..."
Michael shrugs and starts taking the bandage off his hand.
Crystal pales as she sees some finger bone mixed in with the congealed blood and mangled flesh of what used to be his other two fingers. "Oh my god, what did that?!" she takes his hand in hers and inspects the wound.
"Shotgun..." Michael replies with a gruff voice.
Crystal gives him a look of surprise as he spoke again. "D-Did you grab the gun or something? Those guns usually spray from a long distance," she continues the conversation as normal; ignoring the fact that the Michael Myers decided to start speaking to her after eleven years.
Michael nods. He again felt weird talking, at least Crystal was right about the lozenge being good for the throat.
Crystal hums with a shrug and starts to clean the wound. "And what happened to your face?" she points to a hole in his right cheek.
Michael raises his free hand to touch his cheek, "Karen..."
"Allyson's mom?" Crystal pauses, "She could never..." She then remembers the story of how Karen got taken away by child protective services because of how Laurie raised her.
Crystal shakes her head and continues to clean up Michael's hand. Once done she grabs the bandages and wraps up Michael's hand and holds it in place with a safety pin. "There... Better?" she gives Michael a friendly smile.
Michael raises his patched-up hand and tilts his head as he inspects her handiwork. He then looks at Crystal and nods. "Great!" Crystal beams and clasps her hands together. Crystal looks at the scar over his left eye and remembers patching it up. She prevents herself from stroking the aged scar. His eyes were calming to her, she could get lost in them.
Crystal peers at the hole in Michael's cheek and cleans it with more swabs. There was a deep hole under all the dried blood. Crystal tilts her head and pinches the sides together with a hum, there was a strange lump. "I'm going to have to get whatever is inside of that out, then stitch up the hole." She sifts through the first aid kit and finds a pair of tweezers and a needle and thread, "Hold still Michael."
Michael was good at staying still so it wasn't a problem for him.
Crystal reaches into the wound with the tweezers and feels around for the bullet.
Michael watches her from the corner of his eye. She was being super careful with him. He missed her that's for sure. Every day in Smith's Grove he thought about her. Her medical skills had improved that was for sure... not that they were bad before.
"Got it," Crystal pulls the tweezers out and makes a disgusted noise at the bloody bullet shard, "Yikes that must've hurt..."
Michael shrugs.
"Okay time to get this fixed." Crystal uses the needle and thread to stitch up Michael's cheek carefully. Once done she ties a small knot then cuts off the end. "Soooo... What are you planning to do for the rest of the night?" Crystal asks as she puts the needle and thread away.
Michael shrugs again.
Crystal grabs a bandage and puts it over the stitches and pats it down. "There are angry mobs out there who want to kill you... I-I guess Doctor Sartain was right about something," Crystal puts the first aid kit away.
Michael stands up and walks out of the bathroom.
"Where are you going?" Crystal exits the room and follows Michael down the stairs.
Michael was in the kitchen again.
"Want more food?" Crystal asks with a chuckle.
Michael opens the pantry and finds a bag of candy.
"Oh yeah... I was supposed to give that to bratty kids tonight," Crystal eyes the bag, "You can have them. I'm more of a savoury person. Comes with the territory of being a diabetic I suppose."
Michael smiles internally and walks over to the living room with his bag of candy.
"Don't eat too much!" Crystal calls to him. Crystal hits her head on the pantry door and sighs loudly.
I need to remember some more... I know that he cares about me... But what would make The Shape of Haddonfield care for some lousy diabetic?
Crystal takes a glance into the living room and sees Michael inspecting the packet of assorted candy.
He's just a man... Yeah. He's just some old man... Who's killed people in the past... And tonight.

The news was on the television above the fireplace and it was talking about the bus crash Michael was involved in.
Crystal looks out to the front door and frowns with a sigh. Michael left an hour earlier. He simply explained he had 'some business to attend to'. Whatever that meant, maybe he was off killing people again. Crystal didn't really know.
Crystal groans and shuts the T.V. off.
Jet, her black cat, meows in confusion and looks up at her with his electric yellow eyes.
"I have to find him..." Crystal says, "I don't know why or how I even care..." She pushes herself off the couch and hikes up the stairs to her bedroom. Jet follows behind her like he was her little shadow.
Crystal opens the door to her room and shuffles through the various items in her closet. She hums as she goes through the various coloured shirts and gradients of jeans. Crystal eventually picks a pair of blue camo pants to go with a black shirt that had the word: 'Introvert' on it in big white letters. Crystal then puts on a warm black hoodie and her dark purple running shoes. Crystal then puts her phone in her top right pocket of the camo pants and her pocketknife in the top left pocket and in the bottom left pocket she puts her packet of jellybeans.
She looks at herself in the mirror and nods at herself. Crystal looks down at Jet and smiles at him, "What do you think champ?"
Jet meows with approval.
"Stay inside boy. Don't want you getting hurt." Crystal picks up the cat and places him in the cat-bed on the windowsill. He curls up and nods at Crystal. Crystal walks over to the bathroom and opens the first aid kit. She grabs some bandages and puts them in another pocket. She then walks down the stairs and exits the house; she locks the door and takes a deep breath.
"I'm coming Michael. Whether you like it or not old man."

Mary squints at the rear-view mirror and sees Michael Myers. The masked man climbs over the car, just like how he did it forty years prior.
"The hell is that?" the man dressed up as a doctor asks as he and his wife look up.
"It's Michael!" Mary readies her gun.
All three in the vehicle listen as Michael clambers on the roof. All of a sudden Michael decides to scare the people in the car by smacking the windshield with the head of that kid. Mary shoots the head and it flings off into the darkness of the night. Michael watches as the head smacks the pavement and rolls, his brows furrow under the mask. That was not what he expected.
Michael smacks the passenger side window with his hand; the window gets shot. Michael's hand didn't get blown to pieces this time, he moved too quick. He could hear the three panic in the car. Another window gets shot.
Michael was losing patience.
Michael grabs Mary by her hair and she screams. Another lady jumps out a broken window in a... sexy... nurses outfit? Michael was confused at the costume choice; her skirt was too high which made her look like a slut. He missed the old days when people dressed up as witches, clowns and vampires, not this shit.
Michael then realises Mary wasn't tugging anymore and that he had ripped out a chunk of her hair. He drops the hair with a dissatisfied growl. He drops down from the roof of the car and is met with someone dressed as a doctor attempting to climb out of the window.
Mary opens the door and yells: "Hey Michael!"
Michael turns to look at her and tilts his head.
"This is for Doctor Loomis." She attempts to shoot Michael but she had no bullets left after shooting all the windows.
Michael waits patiently with a smug look hidden under his mask.
Mary eventually realises she has no ammo and whimpers in fear. Michael enters the car and stabs Mary. The guy dressed as a doctor attempts to choke Michael using his stethoscope. Bad idea. Michael stares at the guy in disappointment. When were they going to learn that they can't kill him? Michael drives his knife through the guy's left eye socket and watches as he falls back and blood spurts out of the wound.
Michael sighs as he sits in the car.
He's a burden to Crystal. She just wanted a normal life and now he's come back with unwanted memories.
He grips the steering wheel and yanks it out of its hold.
She never asked to have a dick of a father who would constantly abuse her day in day out. She was right about having a better reason for killing.
Michael is knocked out of his thoughts by gunfire. He looks through the cracked windshield to see the Nurse lady firing a gun at him and completely missing. Michael kicks the door, hitting the woman's arm and the Nurse shoots herself in the head. Michael gets up out of the car and looks down at her with a scoff and an eyeroll. Dumbass.
Michael hears footsteps and he turns to see Lindsey Wallace with a bag of bricks. She smacks him across the face twice. He grabs her by the neck and pins her to the vehicle, then he slams her into the vehicle multiple times. He then cuts her neck with the shards of glass from the broken window. He drops her on the ground harshly and watches as she hits the ground with a thump.
Michael looks around at his handiwork and smirks under the mask. Not too shabby Michael.

Crystal stands under a streetlight trying to spot Michael. She couldn't. She'd been outside for a solid twenty minutes by now. There was no sign of Michael. Her timer goes off and she scans her patch, she was in the green zone.
"For an old dude he moves fast," Crystal mutters. She walks across the street and finds herself at a park. Crystal shrugs and walks over to the swing set deciding to swing on the swings for a while. She stops walking towards the swings as she could smell... blood. "Uh oh..." she had come across a group of bodies strewn across the play equipment. "Looks like Michael's been here... and he's done some... abstract art..." she surveys the area and notices a car with the headlights still on.
Crystal walks over to the vehicle and sees broken windows and bloodstains throughout. Crystal touches a patch of blood. "Still damp..." Crystal rubs the red substance on her fingers and hums. "If I were Michael Myers where would I go?" Crystal sits on the front of the car and starts to think.
Crystal's eyes light up and she jumps off the car, "THE MYERS HOUSE!"
She takes out her packet of jellybeans and gives herself a running boost of glucose. Crystal then starts to run in the direction of the Myer's house where the two nice old gays were living. She had to warn them.
«†»
Unfortunately for Crystal, Michael already struck and killed the two gays. He'd posed them as they looked in a photograph and decided to play a record. A little homage he'd call it. He was always one for leaving his victims in art-like crime scenes.
Michael decided to show some respect for them as they did for him and his house. Michael himself hadn't known many homosexuals in his time alive (he was in a mental hospital for like 99% of his life) but he did hear about them from guards and other employees of the Sanatorium and even from Crystal. He didn't understand why people hated others for simply loving someone and being themselves. What's so wrong about that? He isn't overly judgemental, it's not really his nature.
Michael hears a knock on the front door and growls in irritation. He had watched a car pull up in front of the house earlier. He grips his knife tighter and turns to leave the room. Whoever walked in that door was certainly not going to walk back out alive.
«†»
Crystal stops at a random house and tries to catch her breath. "How far is this place anyway?"
Not that Crystal would admit, she was lost.
It was dark and she was tired, her brain wasn't working right. That's probably why she was out here in the first place. She scans her patch again to see she was still in the green zone despite all the running, it looked like she had the right amount of jellybeans.
Karen runs by with Michael's mask. "Crystal what are you doing out here? It's not safe!" she grabs the girl by the hand and leads her along with her.
"What's going on Ms. Nelson?" Crystal asks as she struggles to keep up with her best friend's mother.
"Michael attacked at the Myers house. He killed Cameron... A-And he almost killed Allyson!" Karen replies with a shaky voice, there were tears in her eyes.
"Why do you have his mask then?" Crystal asks.
"I'm leading him to a trap," Karen leads Crystal to a road and places the mask down.
"Do you think it will work Ms. Nelson?" Crystal asks.
"It better..." she sniffles and walks off. Crystal looks at the mask on the ground then follows Karen.
«†»
Michael honestly didn't expect to have a pitchfork stab him in the back and he didn't expect that Karen lady to steal his mask either.
He grumbles to himself as he follows the voices in his head telling him where the mask was. The voices were annoying, they only left when he was around... Crystal.
Michael stops as he sees his mask on a road. How odd, the voices stopped. He looks around to try and spot the woman who took his mask or Crystal. He doesn't see either of them. Michael steps forward onto the road and bends down to pick up his mask.
Lights come on all of a sudden. Michael is surprised for a second and straightens up again. He looks around to see an angry group of people. Or what Crystal referred to as: an angry mob that want to kill him.
"Gotcha," Karen says.
And speaking of Crystal, she was with the woman who took his mask. He almost feels betrayed but remembers that the angry mob probably doesn't know what he and Crystal know.
Crystal stands next to Karen with a conflicted expression, she felt bad for Michael but was also mad at him for almost killing her best friend. He was looking right at her; she didn't sense any anger in his gaze.
Crystal had remembered everything while walking around trying to find him. He had protected her from a guard and got the scar on his face from it which she had patched up. She had also knocked him out with insulin that one time. She was the only one who could get him to calm down. She was the only one he cared about. Her favourite ring was a gift that he gave her on their last day together. She was his little angel, and he was her overprotective demon.
"Hey Michael," Michael turns to see the security guard from the hospital there with a gun aimed at him, "It's Halloween. Everyone's entitled to one good scare."
Michael recognises the man from 1978, he was the father of that Annie girl he killed and he was the sheriff at the time.
Michael now understood. It was a trap, an ambush he had walked into. He reaches down again to grab his mask. He then puts it on. Michael grabs out his knife and he clenches it so tight his knuckles turn white.
Everyone comes in closer to the slasher. Karen and Crystal stay back and watch in fear.
The people each take turns hitting Michael with various weapons; hockey sticks, softball bats, crowbars, planks of wood, they even try shooting him. Michael falls over and drops his knife. It wasn't going well for him. He tries to get up but is hit back down again multiple times. Tommy Doyle hits Michael with his bat and Michael stays down.
Crystal gasps and holds her hands to her mouth to stop her from sobbing. Karen walks over to Michael and picks up his knife.
"We got this Karen. Go be with your daughter," Tommy says.
Karen stabs Michael in the neck with as much force as she could, tears in her eyes. She had lost her husband and nearly lost her mother and her daughter. She was in so much pain. Karen leaves satisfied that her work was done.
Crystal and the rest of the mob stay to make sure Michael was actually dead. Officer Brackett steps forward with a gun to shoot Michael's head in honour of Hawkins who was currently in hospital.
Michael reaches up to his neck, takes the knife out and with that knife he slits the guard's throat. The blood splatters onto Tommy who steps back in surprise. Everyone readies their weapons again. Michael gets up off the ground in a fit of blind rage. The members of the mob try to hit him and shoot him again, but one by one they all die, each one more brutal than the last. Michael hits Tommy with his own bat and breaks his skull open.
Michael breathes heavily and straightens up. Michael looks up at Crystal who was standing there among the blood and bodies.
She was a deer in headlights.
Michael drops the bat and grips his knife once more. The voices were telling him to kill the girl. He walks forward with no control over his own body.
"M-Michael?" Crystal steps back as the slasher approaches her, she tries to fish her knife from her pocket but her hands are too shaky. Crystal trips over a body with an 'oof' and crawls backwards as Michael strides towards her. "M-Michael please stop!" Crystal starts to cry and her vision becomes blurry from the tears. "I-I wasn't with them I swear!" Crystal's breathing becomes quicker and she slips on some blood, she stops moving and just sobs on the ground.
Crystal looks up at Michael to try and see his eyes, they were hidden, there was nothing in the void, only evil. Crystal realises that the Michael she had known in her childhood was gone and all that was left was The Shape of Haddonfield. "Please Michael!"
Crystal closes her eyes and prepares to meet her maker, tears continuing to stream down her face. Her low glucose alarm goes off, the stress from the night taking its toll on her.
After a short while Crystal finally opens her eyes expecting to see Michael there to help her up off the ground or trying to strangle her. Instead, he's gone, nowhere to be seen.
Crystal quickly takes out her jellybeans and pops a few into her mouth. She slowly stands up and surveys the area, dead bodies everywhere, blood, weapons and cars surrounding her.
"W-Where'd he go?" she squeaks as she looks around. Her breathing was shaky as she picks up a blood covered flashlight and shines it around. She walks around and then almost trips over Tommy Doyle's corpse. She shines the light over his body and finds that Michael left the old man barely recognisable, his head was just a pile of brain matter and broken pieces of skull.
Crystal decides to go home and stay there for the rest of the night. There was no way she was going to stay outside considering that Michael thinks she betrayed him. He'd kill her if she stayed outside.
Crystal goes to take a deep breath only to hear someone else breathing behind her. She grabs out her knife and spins around only to see nothing.
"Great... I'm going insane..." Crystal looks down at her hands that were covered in blood from when she crawled on the ground, "A-And it looks like I did this..." she looks back around at the sea of bodies. "I'm going the fuck home," she shoves her knife back into her pocket and turns to walk home with a determined expression.
Michael watches her from the shadows, he tilts his head as he hears more sirens approach. I'm sorry Crystal... He looks back down at his fixed hand and makes a fist with it. We'll meet again soon my Angel... Without another thought Michael disappears into the night, another shadow cast by the full moon.
