Chapter Three: The Return

October 10th 2022:

It's been almost four years since that dreaded Halloween night... Michael disappeared without a trace. Some people wondered if he was even real...

I know he was real.

I know there is still some good left in him.

Allyson and Laurie have moved on.

And me... I'm just the freak who killed her father. I'm the freak that Michael Myers refused to kill. I'm the diabetic who refused to die.

I'm the only one Michael cared about. And now he's gone...

Crystal stops writing in her diary and sighs. She leans back in her chair and fiddles with her hair, she decided to put in purple in her fringe a week prior. "I need to clear my head..." she puts on her black boots and packs some jellybeans into her camo pants. She slips on her black leather jacket and zips it up over her blue shirt.

Crystal jogs down the stairs and sees her mother and stepfather playing a game of Cluedo with their neighbours. "I'm going for a walk! See you later!" they look up from their game and wave at her.

Crystal exits the house and takes a deep breath of October air. She decides to go along her normal route on the highway and the bridge.

«†»

Crystal hums along to her music as she skips across the bridge. She looks down to see the old homeless man with his shopping cart full of scraps. Poor guy...

Crystal continues to walk across the bridge and then takes a turn into a familiar street. Crystal walks up the path to a house and knocks on the door. There was a smell of burnt pumpkin in the air and there was an alarm going off inside the house that was promptly shut off as soon as she knocked.

The door opens to reveal Allyson in her uniform for work, "Oh hey Crystal it's nice to see you!"

"Is that Crystal?!" Laurie calls from the kitchen.

"Hi..." Crystal cranes her neck to see smoke billowing out from the kitchen, "What's happened?"

"Oh yeah... Grandma burnt a pumpkin pie," Allyson leads Crystal inside the house and points to a very crispy pie in the sink, it was just ashes and had a few flakes of ember coming off it.

"I forgot to set the timer, okay!" Laurie exclaims as she aggressively slaps the oven-mits onto the kitchen island. "How are you, Crystal? It's been a while... Ooh and is that a purple fringe I see?"

"Yeah, I got it last week," Crystal twirls a strand of her hair and smiles, "A bit of a change."

"Change is healthy," Allyson says, "And it looks good on you..." she takes another look at her best friend's hair, "And you've let your hair get longer I see."

"Yeah, it's really not worth cutting each month... What's your costume for the party Allyson?" Crystal asks.

"Oh you'll just have to wait and see," Allyson gives Crystal a mischievous look.

"Alright then," Crystal mimics stroking a moustache, "Guess who I'm going to be."

"Waluigi?" Allyson asks.

"Waha! You are correct superstar!" Crystal does a terrible impersonation of the lanky plumber.

"Why do you like him again?" Laurie asks.

"I used to play Mario Kart a lot with my mother. Still do. It's a bonding thing," Crystal shrugs, "Well. I have to get back home. See you guys later."

"See you at the party!" Allyson calls.

October 13th 2022:

Crystal jumps as her phone rings. She puts her book down and checks the caller ID; it was Allyson. Crystal smiles and picks up the phone.

"Hey Allyson," Crystal greets.

"Hey Crystal," Allyson's voice was oddly chipper on the other side of the phone.

"You sound awfully happy today. What's happened?"

"I've met someone."

"Oh my god please tell me he's better than Doug!"

"Way better. He's nice and he's really cute and sweet."

"Tell me you're bringing him to the party."

"I will ask him."

"You must introduce me to him. And if he hurts you, he's dead."

"Hey. The overprotectiveness is my grandma's job."

"And it's my job as your bestie to make sure that revenge is served cold."

"Got it Waluigi."

"See ya Allyson."

"See you."

October 14th 2022:

Crystal stands in front of the bar in her Waluigi cosplay waiting for Allyson and her new boyfriend. Crystal adjusts the gloves on her hands and watches as more people walk in the door.

Allyson's car pulls up and she steps out of her car in a cat-girl costume, her date was wearing a scarecrow mask.

"Meow," Crystal says.

"Hey Crystal," Allyson waves.

"Now tell me who this handsome man is."

The man lifts the scarecrow mask, "H-Hi I'm Corey."

"Hi Corey, it's nice to meet you," Crystal holds out her hand to shake and Corey reluctantly takes her hand.

"Nice to meet you too."

"Alright now that you two are introduced let's start to party!" Allyson wraps her arms around Corey and Crystal's shoulders and leads them inside.

«†»

The night was a blur. Crystal refused any and all drinks offered to her as it could mess up her blood sugars. Corey and Allyson were having heaps of fun on the dance floor. And then a woman at the bar decided to ruin the fun and antagonise Corey. Allyson followed him outside and Crystal tried to follow them only to lose sight of them.

"Dammit..." Crystal huffs and crosses her arms as she leans on a wall.

"What's up hot stuff?"

Crystal looks next to her to see some weirdo drunk.

"The sky jackass," Crystal pulls up the finger and saunters away to her car. She hops inside and speeds away before the man could invite himself inside her car.

October 15th 2022:

Crystal walks along the bridge on her daily walk and looks down expecting to see the old man with his shopping cart only to see him missing. "Huh that's weird," she checks the time on her phone. "I'm going to see what's up..." Crystal walks to the end of the bridge and walks down the makeshift path down to the underside of the bridge. She tilts her head and spots the man's tent, there was a light on inside. "Is he asleep?" She opens the tent and she screams as the dead body of the homeless man falls out. "Well, it looks like you're not waking up then..."

Crystal sighs and looks around, "Who'd kill a homeless man?" She spots an opening to the sewers and bloodstains on the ground. "I can't believe I'm doing this..."

Crystal turns on the flashlight on her phone and shines it into the pipe. She decides to crawl inside. It was surprisingly dry.

She stands up at the end of the pipe and looks around. "Huh... Looks like it's someone's secret hideout in here." There was a makeshift bed on a ledge which consisted of a damp pillow on top of a blanket.

Deep breaths take Crystal off guard. "H-Hello?" she spins around and shines her light around. There was a crack in the wall, she squints her eyes and approaches the crack. "I-Is someone there?" She peers into the crack and shines her light inside to find it empty. "Great... The fumes in here are making me hallucinate."

Crystal sighs and decides to leave. "I'm telling the police about that poor old man..."

Crystal starts to make her way back outside when a hand shoots out of a different crack and pulls her towards it. She yelps in pain. Crystal darts her eyes around the area and spots a pair of familiar eyes. The hand lets go of her and disappears back into the crack.

Crystal rushes out of the pipe and screams in fear.

«†»

Crystal washes the dirt and grime out of her hair and off of her smooth olive skin. The hot water of the shower leaving little droplets of condensation on the glass shower cubical. Crystal only called the police about the dead man and not the suspicious person living in the sewers.

Crystal stares at the wall and facepalms with a growl. Who was that? Those eyes looked familiar.

A knock jolts her out of her thoughts. "You alright in there honey?" It was her stepfather.

"Yeah."

"Okay... Dinner's ready," her stepfather walks away.

Crystal steps out of the shower and puts on her pyjamas and wraps her hair in a towel. She grabs her phone and goes downstairs to eat dinner. Her stepfather had made the family vegetable soup and garlic bread.

Crystal's stepfather was a better father than her biological one ever was. He was kind and caring, he was also a good cook.

"Smells divine," Crystal's mother says.

"Thanks babe."

Crystal's parents didn't have expected roles. Her stepfather was a househusband, he did all the cooking and cleaning. Crystal's mother was a lawyer, she finally put her university training to good use.

"How was your party last night honey?" Crystal's stepfather asks.

"It was fun," Crystal replies. She dials up her insulin and stabs herself. Her stepfather cringes at the sight as he still wasn't used to it.

"It's Halloween in a bit..." Crystal's mother starts, she clears her throat, "You going to be okay?"

"Yeah! Why wouldn't I? Michael's gone," Crystal replies as she starts to eat her garlic bread and soup, "It's not like he'll come back, right? Every other time people thought he was back they were wrong. What makes this Halloween different?"

"I just have a feeling..."

"Are you sure it's not indigestion Emma?" Crystal's stepfather teases.

"I'm sure Steven," Crystal's mother sends him a playful glare.

"Dinner was great," Crystal says, "I'm going to bed. See you in the morning!"

"Good night angel!" her parents call up to her.

Crystal enters her room and walks over to her closet. She finds her shelf where she had put her lucky pocketknife, it was blue and purple. She tilts the blade so her eyes reflected on it, she closes the knife and shoves it in her pocket.

«†»

It's wet and warm, sticky. It smells of metal. She's covered in it.

Crystal opens her eyes to see nothing but darkness.

She holds out her hands and she can only feel the warm liquid on her hands. She notices something over her head and she takes it off. It was a mask. She turns it around to see Michael's mask. Crystal drops it in fear. She notices her hands didn't belong to her. One hand only had three fingers. She looks next to her to see a mirror; it was Michael reflecting back at her. Crystal reaches up to her face and the Michael in the mirror mimics her actions.

"What the hell is happening?" Her voice sounded different; it was that low growl that belonged to Michael.

Crystal hears frantic breathing coming from around the corner and she walks towards it. It was Karen.

"Karen is that you?"

Karen turns around and blood seeps out of her eyes and her mouth, "HE'S COMING."

«†»

Crystal shoots up with a sharp intake of breath, her low glucose alarm blares its dumb melody next to her. "Freddy Krueger type shit..." she rubs her face.

Crystal picks up her phone and opens her drawer to a packet of jellybeans. She eats the jellybeans and scans her patch. She notices a notification from Laurie on her phone: "Something's wrong with Corey."

Crystal tilts her head in confusion. I only just met him... he seemed alright.

She dismisses the text and waits for fifteen minutes to pass so she could go to sleep again. Crystal checks the time on her phone and finds it's one in the morning, she groans and slumps over onto her pillow. Jet runs into the room and jumps onto her bed.

"Wassup little man?" Crystal gives him a pat and he meows, "I'm alright..."

Jet kneads the bed and then curls up into a little furry black ball. Crystal scans her patch again and sighs in relief, her blood sugar was back under control.

"Night little man..." she lays down again and closes her eyes.

October 16th 2022:

Crystal ties up her hair and hears a meow. She looks down to see Jet there staring up at her. "Wassup little man?" she crouches down and pats the cat who purrs. She then straightens up and cracks her neck. She takes a stance in front of the punching bag and prepares to kick it.

"Crystal!" her mum opens the door to the shed and finds her there.

"Oh hey mom!" Crystal turns around and smiles at her mother, "What's poppin?"

Her mother rolls her eyes at the slang, "I'm going to the store to get some stuff. You want anything?" she swings her car keys on her finger.

"I'll just have more sour straps. Gotta have more variety than just jellybeans for lows."

"Alright sweetheart," her mum ruffles her hair and kisses her forehead, "Your father's just in the house if you need anything honey."

"I know mum," Crystal smiles and nods.

"See the two of you later," she pats Jet's head and leaves the shed.

Crystal turns on some music. She tightens the scrunchie in her hair, cracks her knuckles and hypes herself up to punch and kick the living daylights out of the bag hanging from the rafters.

«†»

Crystal sighs and wipes the sweat off of her forehead and checks the time. "Dang... 5pm?" Crystal takes off the exercise tape from her hands and feet. She then takes a swig of water from her water bottle.

Jet growls and flares up, startling Crystal and making her almost choke on the water.

"What is it?" she whispers. Crystal grabs a crowbar from the tool rack and readies it in her hands as a weapon. A shadow blocks her view of outside from the window on the door. Crystal grips onto the crowbar tighter but her low glucose alarm goes off.

"Now is not the time!" she hisses as she tries to get her phone out of her shorts' pocket. She turns the alarm off but feels a chill already in the air, or maybe that was just the lack of sleeves on her grey crop top... She looks up to see the door close. "Fuck..." she turns around to survey the shed. There was nobody to be seen. "I'm losing it..." she sighs and sits down; she pops a few jellybeans into her mouth and smacks herself. "Always remember shit ain't right when you're in a low girl."

Crystal hears breathing and looks down at Jet who stares back at her. "Who's there?" she asks barely above a whisper. She hears a dark chuckle and she jumps up. "Alright fucker come on out!" she raises the crowbar and steps towards her stepfather's pink 57 Chevy.

Jet growls and hisses at the vehicle. Crystal runs over and yells a "hah!" only to be confused that nobody's there.

"What the-" she gets cut off by a hand slapping onto her mouth. She tries to scream but the person's hand was too tight on her face, Jet jumps onto the attacker and they let go with a strange muffled sound of surprise.

Crystal takes a deep breath and looks up to see... Michael?

The man was there holding the angry cat away from his masked face.

Crystal twirls the crowbar and cracks him in the knees, knocking him over with a grunt.

"This better be a sick joke. Corey? Is that you?" Crystal points her makeshift weapon at the man with a nasty scowl on her face.

The man takes the mask off. It wasn't Corey or Michael it was... just her stepdad.

"Oh you think you're so fucking funny!" she puts the crowbar back on the tool bench.

"I'm sorry honey..." her stepfather gives her a guilty expression and stands up. "I just found a William Shatner mask and found my old coveralls so..."

Crystal groans and stamps her foot, "NEVER do that again!"

"Dinner's ready..."

"I'll be there in a second."

October 20th 2022:

Crystal walks along the bridge and hears laugher below her. She looks down to see nobody there.

Crystal looks around and starts to make her way to the end of the bridge to go down to the underside again. She spots tire tracks on the ground and tilts her head. Crystal spots the same pipe from before and groans. "I'm really doing this again..."

Crystal crawls into the pipe again and takes out her pocketknife. "I know someone lives here. Come out and show yourself..." she looks around the space. As expected, nobody replies.

Crystal catches whiff of something and cringes, "Eww what the hell is that?" She spots the crack in the wall from last time and shines her flashlight inside to see the dead body of Doug shoved inside.

Crystal drops her phone and it hits the ground with a clunk. She's too frozen to speak or do anything. Breathing catches her off guard and she snaps back to reality as her low glucose alarm goes off. She fiddles around to pick up her phone, she shoves a random amount of jellybeans into her mouth and shines her light around.

"Who's there?!" she yells out.

A figure peeks out from behind a pillar and Crystal screams. She makes a mad dash to the exit only to be yanked back by a strong three fingered hand.

"Let me go!" she struggles in the persons hold and stabs them with her knife, the person drops her with a surprised grunt.

Crystal flops to the floor and shines her light at the person. It was Michael... no it couldn't be. Crystal takes this chance to run off and out of the sewer.

«†»

Crystal was scared. She shouldn't've gone into that pipe again.

Some guy was living down there dressed as Michael Myers. Or maybe it really was him and she just got put onto his hit list by stabbing him. People really liked taking the piss out of her, even her dad, but that guy was different...

Again, Crystal didn't tell anyone about what happened in the sewer. There was a strange force that overcame her whenever she wanted to say anything. Whatever happens in the sewers, stays in the sewers.

Crystal writes the events in her diary and closes the book.

She had a bad feeling that something was going to happen on Halloween Night...

October 25th 2022:

Debbie walks outside to spot a smashed glass on the ground. She hears grunting and stabbing noises. She turns around to see a man in a scarecrow mask stabbing Doctor Matthews in the neck with a shard of glass. He looks up and drops the body. Debbie screams and runs into the house. She locks the door and the man bangs on the door.

She fumbles for her phone and dials 911. She peeks around the corner to see the man in the scarecrow mask staring at her, he looks to behind her and she turns around to see... Michael Myers.

He tilts his head at the woman as she backs away from him. Michael then looks at the man in the scarecrow mask covered in blood. Michael grabs the woman by the throat and pins her to the wall.

The man in the scarecrow mask takes off his mask to reveal Corey Cunningham. He watches as Michael steals away his kill. Michael feels his gaze on him and turns his head to give the twenty-year-old a side glance.

Michael raises the knife he had and stabs it into Debbie's chest. She stops moving and Michael lets her throat go. He tilts his head and looks back outside the glass door to see that Corey had left. Damn kid.

Michael sighs and looks back at Debbie. He gives her silent apology and exits the house to go back to his home in the sewers.

«†»

"Doctor Edward Matthews and Deborah Turner were found dead this morning in Matthews' home after the both of them didn't show up for work at Haddonfield Memorial Hospital-" Crystal turns the radio off and starts to pace around the room.

"Who would do such a thing?" Crystal's mother asks as she shakes with fear.

"Well, it ain't Michael. He's probably too old and crippled to do any real damage," Crystal's stepfather says before taking a swig of wine.

"I thought you stopped drinking?" Crystal asks.

"I did, but this is a special occasion. It's our five-year anniversary!" Crystal's stepfather wraps an arm around his wife and she calms down slightly.

"Have fun you two," Crystal waves to her parents and walks up the stairs to her room.

Crystal's phone starts to ring and she checks the caller ID to see that it's Laurie. She picks up and puts the phone to her ear.

"Something is seriously wrong with Corey."

"You mentioned that last time we spoke Laurie. What's your point?"

"He's getting worse. He's hostile. He's got the evil in his eyes that I saw in Michael's."

"Why are you telling me?"

"Nobody else wants to listen to me."

"If anything, Corey is just an overprotective boyfriend."

"Well that doesn't explain why his mother told me that he spends long nights out of the house and then returns covered in blood. He keeps telling them he's getting beat up by the same damn kids. But I think he's killing people."

"It wouldn't surprise me. Last time we talked he said that he'd protect her no matter what. Like he probably killed Doctor Matthews and Debbie last night because Allyson didn't get that promotion."

"You see my point Crystal? We have to protect her."

"What happens when he pulls a knife on us? What you gonna do then Laurie?"

"I don't know. I want to protect Allyson but she thinks I'm overbearing."

"Maybe he's manipulating her. It wouldn't surprise me."

"He acts as if that murder he committed in 2019 was just an accident-"

"It actually was. The kid had locked him up in an upstairs room and he kicked the door to get it open and the force was so great it shot the kid over the railing and he fell. I went to that house to investigate the crime scene as part of an apprenticeship."

"Maybe so, but we can't have anyone else die. I'd assume on Halloween, Corey will have his own Michael Myers cosplay and will be killing people left right and centre."

"You don't know that."

"I have a hunch."

"You always have a hunch Miss Strode."

"Just be weary Crystal and stay safe."

"I will Miss Strode."

"Bye Crystal."

"Bye Laurie."

October 30th 2022:

"She wants to leave!" Laurie exclaims.

Crystal cringes at the loudness of Laurie's voice over the phone. "What do you mean?"

"She wants to move away with Corey!"

"Hey! You've faced Michael Myers! This is nothing!"

"You're right..."

Laurie pauses and Crystal could hear her breathing over the phone.

"I'll talk to you later Crystal..." Laurie hangs up.

"Angel can you come down here?" Crystal's mother calls from downstairs.

Crystal rushes down the stairs and sees her mother and her stepfather sitting on the couch. "What is it this time?" Crystal asks.

"The TV went off. And all the lights in the house," Crystal's mother replies.

"Did you try the breaker?"

Her parents don't respond.

Crystal pauses and then runs to the breaker to see that there was a red residue on the wires where it was cut. She screams and backs away from the breaker.

"Honey what's the matter?!" her parents rush in.

"BLOOD!" Crystal points to the wires and her stepfather takes a closer look.

"Holy shit. We better call the police."

"Someone broke in... They could've killed us..." Crystal's mother holds her head, "I feel faint..."

"Mom!" Crystal catches her mother before she falls.

Crystal's stepfather grabs his phone and calls the police and the ambulance.

«†»

Crystal was home alone.

Usually that was a good thing. She could do whatever she wanted.

But now there was a maniac on the loose.

Her mother was in hospital suffering from PTSD induced shock, and her stepfather was there to comfort her and calm her down, although he wanted to return home to look after their daughter.

"I gotta call Laurie..." Crystal picks up her phone and dials the woman's number.

Nothing.

Crystal turns her phone off and starts to have a break down. She was going to die, that was for sure. Corey seemed like a nice guy the first time she met him but over time he started to be possessive and violent. He would probably kill her to have all of Allyson's attention. Crystal chuckles to herself in fear. He's a yandere.

Crystal calms down after a while and sighs to herself. Jet looks up at her from his position on the bed. "Be on lookout for me champ." The cat meows in response and turns around. "Thanks..."

Crystal turns off her light and tries to fall asleep.

Halloween Night 2022:

Michael sits up and watches as that Corey kid runs out the sewers with his mask.

How could he let this happen? He was getting old sure but... he grunts as he accidentally hits his head on something. Spending the past four years in a sewer wasn't exactly good for his wounds, they were severely infected. Michael was sure that his lack of sunlight did something to his bones and he wouldn't be surprised if the trash and animals he was eating gave him food poisoning.

I can't let him hurt anyone else.

Michael forces himself to exit his chamber. He stands outside and surveys the area, rain pouring down around him. Where the hell did he go?

Michael was confused.

Why would he want to stop some dumb copycat from killing? Did he feel bad for killing that cop in front of him? Michael felt bad for a lot of things.

Michael initially went to Doctor Matthews' house to stop Corey but instead found the red-head and killed her to leave no witnesses. He probably made a mistake with that. He didn't have that same bloodlust he used to have. The voices left when Corey first came around. Maybe they got bored of him and moved on?

What about Crystal?

Michael looks down at his three fingered hand. It was the only injury of his that somewhat healed well. Michael makes the decision to go and see Crystal to warn her about Corey... assuming she still lived in the same house as before.

A boom of thunder makes him jump slightly. Michael grits his teeth with a growl and continues walking.

«†»

Crystal quickly puts on her leather jacket and ties up the laces on her boots. She runs down the stairs and races out the door. She jumps in her car and speeds away towards the Strode house. I'm coming Laurie. The rain pelts the roof of her car, as there was a sudden storm. Storms were never good on Halloween.

Laurie had called her saying that she had to look after Allyson after tonight. Crystal wasn't about to let her die alone; she blinks away the tears forming in her eyes and tightens her grip on the steering wheel.

Crystal pulls up to Laurie's house and leaps out of her car to find her front door open. "Laurie!" she runs into the house and scans the hall. A body falls from the stairs and down to her feet, she screams and backs away from the body.

Laurie runs down the stairs, "You're not supposed to be here Crystal! I can handle this!" she shoves Crystal out the door.

"I'm not letting you fight him alone," Crystal pulls out her pocketknife. The figure sits up and chuckles. The two women turn around and stare at him as he stands up.

"Nice of you to join us Crystal," he tilts his head up and Crystal sees the familiar gaze of Corey.

"You son of a-"

Corey grabs Laurie by the throat and Crystal stabs him in the shoulder. Corey throws Laurie down the hallway.

"If I can't have Allyson then no-one can," he laughs and grabs out his own bigger knife. He goes to stab Crystal and she kicks it out of his hand. He looks over to where his knife lay, he then looks back up at Crystal.

"Don't mess with someone who knows martial arts."

"Don't mess with The Shape of Haddonfield."

"You're not Michael."

"You're right Crystal. I'm better than that old man ever was," he lunges at Crystal and flattens her to the ground. He tries to grab her neck to strangle her but she holds his hands away, her pocketknife forgotten in the hallway. Corey's eyes behind the stolen mask held nothing. He had been corrupted by evil.

"CRYSTAL!" Laurie yells out and grabs a knife from the kitchen.

Crystal struggles in Corey's hold as he continues to try and strangle her. "I'm going to kill you!"

A sudden feeling of impending doom and dread makes them direct their gazes to the front door. Laurie steps into the room to spot an angry and maskless Michael Myers at the front door holding a metal pipe, he was breathing heavily and covered in water from the storm with his icy gaze focused on Corey.

Corey tilts his head and looks up at the newcomer. "Well if it isn't Michael Myers. Want your little mask back old man?" Corey asks with a psychotic laugh.

Michael grabs Corey and shoves him away from Crystal. He then smacks Corey upside the head with the pipe. Corey tries to stab him with his knife he picked up off the floor.

Laurie grabs Crystal and helps her to her feet, "Come on Crystal get up!"

The two back away from Michael and Corey attacking each other. Michael drops the pipe and grabs Corey by the throat. Corey struggles in Michael's grasp and he tries to kick Michael's legs to attempt to free himself.

Corey uses his knife to stab Michael and he drops Corey to grab at the knife in his shoulder. Corey grabs the pipe and smacks Michael across the chest with it. The older man grunts in pain and struggles to stay upright.

Crystal feels a rush of adrenalin and picks up her pocketknife, she jabs the blade into Corey's neck and he yells out in pain, dropping the pipe. Crystal rips the mask off his head and tosses it behind her. She kicks him in the ribs and he falls over in pain. Corey struggles to crawl away from the angry girl as she stares at him with disapproval, his expression of pure fear, the evil in his eyes gone.

Michael stands up and glares down at Corey, he then spots his mask on the ground and he picks it up. He puts the mask on and picks up Corey's knife. Michael shoves Crystal into a wall and she grunts in pain. Corey tries to scramble away but Michael stalks forward and starts to stab him repeatedly in the chest.

Crystal steps back and holds her injured arm, Laurie steps forward with her own knife poised to stab Michael.

Once Michael was done with Corey he stands up and turns his head to look at the two women. He turns around with the bloodied knife and he walks forward.

"You came to kill me so do it," Laurie says, "Crystal go and hide."

Crystal nods and runs up the stairs, Michael follows her with his head and once she was out of sight he redirects his gaze to Laurie. Laurie lunges forward and stabs Michael in the neck. He grunts in pain and tries to swing at Laurie but she kicks him in the stomach making him double over in pain. She takes the knife out of his neck and shoves the blade through the bottom of his head, he coughs out blood and his eyes widen in fear.

What am I doing?

Michael steps back and wrenches the knife out from his head. Laurie growls at Michael, "Come on! Kill me!"

Why am I not in control?

Michael's wounds heal in seconds. The evil had returned to him and there was no stopping it. Michael steps forward and takes another swing at Laurie and she shoots him in the eyes much like how Doctor Loomis did on Halloween night 1978. Michael drops the knife and covers his eyes. He growls and punches Laurie in the nose knocking her down. He tilts his head at her laying on the ground with her nose bleeding. Michael looks up the stairs and starts to walk up them to find Crystal.

Crystal tries to stop tears from flowing down her face as she hides in the closet. Her low glucose alarm goes off and the closet doors are wrenched open by The Shape, his eyes dull and dark. Crystal screams and backs up into the closet.

"Leave her the fuck alone!" Laurie yells as she smacks Michael in the back of the head with a fry pan.

Michael turns around and grabs the fry pan away from her, he hits her with it and she falls to the floor again. Michael lowers the pan and slowly turns his head to look at Crystal.

Crystal's vision was getting blurry and she couldn't think straight, she felt dizzy.

Michael could sense that something was wrong. He couldn't help her, not now.

Laurie stands up again and grabs a chair, she smacks Michael across the back with it and he falls over. "Come on Crystal! Come on!" Laurie hurriedly grabs Crystal and shoves her out the door, "Get out of here and call the cops!"

"I'm not leaving you Laurie!" Crystal exclaims.

"GET OUT OF HERE! I DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOU TOO!" Laurie shoves her out the door again as Michael stands up.

Crystal runs down the stairs and takes out her phone but as she does, the cops pull up and Allyson bursts through the door.

"Crystal!" Allyson envelops Crystal in a hug.

"Allyson!" Crystal returns the hug.

"Where is that son of a bitch?" Hawkins asks as he draws out his gun.

"He's in Allyson's room with Laurie," Crystal says after pulling away from Allyson.

The cops run up the stairs and Allyson directs her gaze to Corey's corpse on the ground.

"He tried to kill me and your grandma," Crystal says before eating some jellybeans.

"You seem sad Crystal, what's up?" Allyson asks.

"Michael would never hurt me on purpose," Crystal says.

And speaking of Michael he tumbles down the stairs and lands at Crystal's feet, his mask in Laurie's hands.

Crystal steps away from Michael and stares him down. Instead of his usual blue-eyed gaze his eyes were black. "The evil's returned to where it came from."

"Let me kill the mother fucker!" Hawkins aims his gun at Michael's temple and Michael glares at him.

"If anyone's going to kill him it's gotta be me!" Laurie steps forward with her frypan.

Crystal fiddles with the ring with the pink heart on it and looks up at everyone, "Even after all this you think you can kill evil? It shifted from one vessel to another. When it wasn't in Michael, he had numerous wounds and now he has none." The scar over Michael's eye was still present, the only wound healed from goodness.

"What? You're saying we need Jesus?" an officer asks.

Allyson rolls her eyes and scoffs.

"What made it leave Michael the first time?" Laurie asks.

Crystal poses with a bored expression, "Me."

Everyone exchanges glances and then all collectively stare at Crystal.

"I'm the only thing that can get rid of the evil," Crystal looks back down at Michael.

Michael wasn't moving, but at the same time he was struggling. His eyes held a mix of anger and fear. He was trying to fight back against the curse that had plagued him since the age of six.

"Mikey. I know there is some good left in you. Wake up."

Michael sits up in a split second and makes everyone jump back in surprise. He rubs his head and groans in pain. He coughs and grumbles to himself. Michael blinks and the darkness exits his eyes, the usual blue hue returning to his irises. He looks over at Corey's body and spots his knife on the ground.

Crystal walks around Michael and crouches in front of him. "You okay old man?" she gives him a friendly smile.

Michael sighs and rolls his eyes. He lays back down while clutching his head.

"W-Where'd the evil go?" Laurie asks.

"I think I have a little idea," Crystal looks at the mask in Laurie's hands then looks over at Corey's body to see his chest rising and falling, "Someone know where we can destroy all this?"

"The junkyard," Allyson says, "They have a trash compactor."

Crystal nods, "Get some rope."

Corey's body is carefully untied from the top of Laurie's car. Laurie and Michael walk up to the top of the trash compactor to await the body. The body gets carried by Hawkins and some of the other police officers to the two. Crystal walks up to Laurie and Michael and hand them the mask. She walks back down to give Allyson the signal to flip the switch.

Michael and Laurie exchange glances and nod. Laurie tosses the mask into the trash compactor and Michael shoves Corey's body inside with his foot. The two watch as his corpse crumbles and mangles in the spinning death-trap. The mask nothing but a glorified piece of mushed plastic and matted synthetic hair, stained with blood and tears.

Laurie and Michael turn around and walk off thedevice to the awaiting crowd of Haddonfield citizens. Laurie envelopes her granddaughterin a hug and they both start to cry. Michael shies away from everyone's gazeand approaches Crystal. Crystal feels his presence and turns around, she opensher arms up for a hug. Michael walks forward and lets her wrap her arms aroundhis larger frame, he hesitantly returns the hug.
