Chapter 38: The Blue Demon

<<(Real World)>>

"Guuuuys~?  Cry, Pewds, Ken~?"

A ravenet with pink-dyed hair entered Cry's house.

He pushed his glasses up and inclined his head.

"Are you guys trying to jump-scare me!?"

He walked further into the house and saw that a sea-green light was coming from Cry's room.

"....Cry...?"

There was a crash behind the ravenet; he spun around and saw a flash of sea-green.

Before he disappeared to who knows where, he heard a chilling familiar, yet unfamiliar, voice.

"H-Hahaha!  Y-You're all ju-just making it w-worse for him!  He'll d-die quicker now.  H-How exciting!"

<<(The Gaming World)>>

'Hm....it's starting to spread out more....'

Cry looked at the glowing pattern that covered his neck and the top half of his left arm.

The brunet frowned underneath his mask.

He reached over and grabbed his jacket on the side, looking away from the broken mirror in front of him.

They were still in the world of Dishonored, but the gamer sensed that he and his group would leave soon.

Knock, knock.

"Sir Cry?  Are you in there?"

The said brunet blinked, recognizing the voice.

'Corvo?' "Yeah, I'm in here, Corvo.  What's up?"

"Ah...well....I wish to speak with you on the roof."

'Hm...he suspects that you know something about his future.'

Cry jumped slightly and glanced around the rundown bathroom he was in.

'....Svart?'

'Yes.  I am here.'

'Geez!  You scared me.'

'I apologize.  But I was also testing out this mental link that we both now share.  You should also go now.  You have been silent too long, and Corvo is starting to worry.'

'Gotcha.'

Cry pulled his jacket on and pushed the door open.

Corvo stood there, shifting from foot to foot; Cry chuckled mentally at how nervous the other was.

The ravenet bowed his head slightly at Cry.

"Can I...speak with you--privately--on the rooftop, Sir Cry?  I know it's the middle of the night, but.....it's a bit important to me."

Cry nodded, smiling underneath his mask.

Taking in the shorter's aura, Corvo could tell that Cry wasn't mad at all.

The two headed up to the rooftop.

~~

Cry swung his legs over the edge of the roof, kicking them lightly in the air as Corvo simply stood next to him.

"....Sir Cry...it is apparent that you know me, yet I do not know you.  Tell me.....are you from the future?"

Cry chuckled softly.

"Hm....I wouldn't say that I'm from the future.  But I am....from a different world."

Corvo blinked in confusion.

"A different....world...."

Cry sighed.

"In that world....I suppose I get to be 'you' in a sense.  I know what you went through while being 'you'."

Corvo blinked in surprise, mulling over the words.

Cry felt a tug on himself and sighed.

'So it's time to go....'

The brunet stood up and stretched, stepping away from the roof edge; Cry turned to look at Corvo, bowing his head slightly.

"Well, Corvo, it's been fun, but I think my group and I will be leaving now."

Corvo looked a little startled and frowned at the other.

"But Burrows hasn't been defeated ye--"

"Burrows is your enemy, but you have another after that."

Cry turned his head slightly, looking over his shoulder.

"You can trust Sammy, but I wouldn't trust those loyalists of yours.  Remember, there are many people in this world that like to steal the credit for themselves."

But before Cry could leave, Corvo caught him by the shoulder.

"Sir Cry.....if you're leaving, take this sword with you."

Cry looked and blinked in surprise at the steel blade in a leather sheath that was attached to a belt in front of him.

"....But isn't this yours...?"

"Yes.  But I have plenty.  Please, take it."

Cry reached out and grabbed the sword, pulling it out of its sheath before putting it back in place; the brunet strapped the blade to his hip.

"Thanks, Corvo."

"Farewell, Sir Cry.  I will take heed to your words."

With that, Cry left Corvo and opened the door to the roof, closing it behind him.

When he looked back at the stairs in front of himself, Cry blinked when he saw Snake there.

The headband-wearing brunette gazed at Cry.

The shorter of the two got of his trance and gently bumped the back of his hand on Snake's chest.

"Yo, Snake......you'll watch my back for me, yeah?"

The darker-haired brunet sighed through his nose, hitting the shorter's head with his knuckles.

"There's no need to ask, idiot."

Cry chuckled and the two walked down the stairs to meet up with the others.

When they all met together in the rooms, a Tear opened up.

The group stepped in first, and Cry followed after.

~~

"Hey...it's pretty dark in here...."

Cry huffed and lit his left hand up with blue lightning.

Sea-blue eyes blinked as they stared into onyx ones.

"HUBABABABABABABA!"

The owner of the onyx eyes scrambled backwards; Cry raised an eyebrow as the rest of his team turned to look at the source of the commotion.

A fake, pink moustache fell out of the ravenet's pocket.

"NO!  MY WONDERFUL MOUSTACHE!"

The glasses-wearing ravenet bent down and quickly picked the said object up and stuck it right above his upper lip.

Cry blinked.

"....Mark...?"

The ravenet stroked his moustache before widening his eyes when he looked at Cry and the other's faces.

"CRRRRYYYYYYY!?  MY GOLLY BOLLY--IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU GUYS!"

Mark, or Markiplier, launched himself at the group.

But....all of them dodged the poor ravenet and he fell, face first, into the carpet they were apparently standing on.

Mark sniffled as he sat up, rubbing his red face.

"You guys are all jerks!"

They all sweatdropped.

Cry chuckled and bent down to grab Mark's hand.

~~

Soon enough, everything was explained to Mark.

While everyone filled the ravenet in, Cry stepped ahead of the group, raising his glowing, left hand above his head.

The brunet furrowed his eyebrows when he heard a soft whimper.

Cry waved his hand around and saw that they were currently in a room--a familiar one...

The brunet heard the whimper again--this time, everyone snapped to attention.

Cry then looked to the side and found a wardrobe; the brunet stepped closer to it and found that the whimpers were getting a bit louder.

The brunet put a hand on the door handle and tried to open it.

It didn't open.

"Pl-Please!  Don't k-kill m-me!"

Cry blinked in surprise.

The voice sounded like a young boy's; Cry smiled slightly.

"Um.  Hey, kid.  We're not here to hurt anyone.  We can help y--"

"NO!  No one can kill that monster!  No one....no....one.  He--no it!  It killed....it killed M-Mika...."

Cry blinked.

''Mika'....who's that?  Have I heard that name before?' "Well....how about you just come out for now, okay?  The monster isn't here now..."

Slowly, the doors opened with a quiet creak.

A young boy with silver hair and glasses popped out of the wardrobe; Cry widened his eyes slightly in recognition.  The kid was wearing a black Japanese-style school uniform.

'This kid...'

The silveret slowly climbed out before squatting down, instantly bringing his knees to himself as he looked at their faces; he froze when he saw Cry.

"Y-You're n-not a g-ghost, r-right...?"

Cry chuckled lightly and crouched in front of the kid, raising his hands in a defenseless matter.

"Nah, but I think it would be pretty cool.  Plus, I'm not...the average person--including my friends."

The boy continued to shiver, but he looked less scared as he stared up at Cry.

"...M-My name's Hi-Hiroshi...."

Cry smiled warmly underneath his mask.

"Cool!  Well, my name is Cry."

Hiroshi blinked, stopping his shivering as he looked at Cry with confusion.

"'Cry'?  Not to be rude....but wh-what sort of n-name is th-that?"

Cry gasped dramatically.

"'What sort of name--'?!  It's supposed to be an awesome and fantastic name!"

Hiroshi quirked his lips up into a smile, fear ebbing away from his eyes.

"R-Really...?"

Cry grinned underneath his mask before frowning.

'This kid...is from Ao Oni....'

~~

The group exited a door, the Cry saw that rain fell overhead.

Cry led the way for the others, not minding the fact that Hiroshi was gripping his pants tightly as they all walked down the hallways; sleek wood covered the ground.

"...So the monster that's been chasing you is called the Ao Oni--the 'Blue Demon'?"

"Y-Yeah...and...h-how does your h-hand glow like th-that?"

Cry smiled as he ruffled Hiroshi's head.

"Hey~I told you before: I'm not the average person."

Hiroshi pouted and muttered off to the side.

"That's an understatement."

Cry poked at the silveret's forehead childishly.

"Wah~you're so mean~!"

Hiroshi blushed hard and swatted at Cry's hands.

Cry grinned as he lit the way once more, but he froze; Hiroshi also tensed up.

There, standing at the end of the garden(?), was some sort of...creature; Hiroshi whimpered softly.

"I-It's here.....b-but it looks....different...?"

Cry narrowed his gaze.

'Aw cr**, it's the guy that runs really f--!'

Swish!

Cry shoved Hiroshi down to the ground as he brought his Okami sword out in a flash of red, orange and gold.

Klang!

The two-legged, blue creature slammed into Cry's blade; the brunet grunted.

Snake suddenly popped up from behind Cry and punched the monster right in the forehead, sending the beast flying; Cry sweatdropped.

"....Snake....I swear you have inhuman strength sometimes..."

"Hm."

Cry grinned and turned to look at his friends.

"Aaaal~right, my Crew!  Late Night Crew Formation!"

They deadpanned him; Russ made an irked face.

"What the f***?  When was there ever a formation like that?"

Cry pouted and waved his hands around childishly.

"Whatever!  Just do it!"

They rolled their eyes and smirked or smiled with amusement.

The creature got up once more, opening its jaws wide as it charged at them again.

This time, the others moved in to help.

Raven sent crows after the blue demon to distract it.

Red raised her hands in front of her, palms up; lava and fire burst to life on her fingertips.

Russ gripped his fingers--which tinted bronze--into a fist and punched the ground; gravity went down to zero, and loose objects floated around the area.

Scott 'hmph'ed and called up his ghosts.

The ravenet looked over at Red; the two nodded.

Go.

The two quickly dashed over to the blue demon.

Since there was zero gravity, they were moving at impossible speeds for a normal human.

Red punched a molten fist at the blue demon; Scott kept the demon in place with his green ghosts.

But, the rectangular-shaped demon managed to tilt its head slightly; Red melted only a part of its head.

Red tsked and reared her hand back again, but the monster....disappeared?

The demon...it was gone...

Cry narrowed his gaze.

'....I have a bad feeling that that guy joined his...other buddies...'

Cry then heard a groan and sweatdropped when he found Hiroshi.

"Oh.  Sorry, kid.  I didn't hurt you when I pushed you down, did I?"

Hiroshi huffed, shaking slightly from the shock of seeing the demon again.

"I-I'm fine...."

Cry quickly helped the silveret to his feet.

~~

"Th-This is....a completely different p-part of the mansion......"

Cry narrowed his gaze and flexed his left hand; orbs of lightning lit the way.

The brunet set his arm to the side and walked through the row of lights as his group followed.

Hiroshi then pulled a key out of his pocket.

"Er, I f-found this k-key in the main m-mansion...I don't know i-if it'll open a-any doors here...."

Hiroshi walked up to one of the doors and pushed the key in.

Click.

He opened it.

"I-It worked!"

Hiroshi shook as he pushed the door open; Cry stood directly behind the boy.

They all heard heavy breathing, soft pounding, and scattering noises.

Cry snapped his fingers and more lightning orbs appeared to light the dark room.

Hiroshi became as pale as a sheet of white paper.

"Th-Th-Th-There's m-m-more of them........"

Indeed.  When Cry lit the room....there were...more blue demons lurking about.

A blue blob with multiple eyes on it.

A gorilla looking Oni with giant, arms.

A hunched over Oni.

An original Oni with a warped face.

An Oni head with black tentacles.

Another Oni with eyes covering its sides.

And last but not least--the rectangular Oni from before.

Hiroshi gulped audibly while Cry narrowed his gaze.

Suddenly, the door behind Cry and Hiroshi slammed shut, cutting the the two off from the rest of the group.

Cry then darted his eyes to the bars that were caging the Oni; the door on the far end of the room opened with a 'creak'.

Hiroshi widened his eyes and shook violently; he quickly ran over to the door and started to jiggle the handle.

"It's...not...opening!"

Cry felt a tingle on his arm; he glanced down and saw....Slen's tattoo.

The black tattoo started to mist up.

The hunched over Oni started to approach the two.

Cry grinned as he then touched his tattoo.

'Okay....let's go.....Slenderman!'

Poof!

Black mist surrounded Cry, causing Hiroshi to look back at the brunet with wide eyes.

"C-Cry?"

The mist settled.

A clicking sound was heard.

"Ah, thank goodness.  I was wondering when you would use the tattoo, Mr. Cry."

Hiroshi 'eep'ed when a boy that was completely white popped out of nowhere.

He was further freaked out when the boy opened his eyes, revealing nothing but deep, black eye sockets.

The floating child blinked before smiling, sitting on a broad shoulder.

When the mist settled completely, it revealed...a tall--like no kidding--figure.

Cry coughed as he waved away the mist, chuckling softly.

"Thanks for the help, Slen.  I can leave them to you...?"

"Of course~!"

The white-haired boy giggled.

"Let's show them....who's the superior monster...."

A long arm came out from the mist.

White fingers twitched as they met the wooden floor.

A smooth, white face tilted slightly.

"...Slenderman."

The Ao Oni paused in their approach.

Cry stepped backwards and panted, slumping against the wall beside Hiroshi; the silveret quickly crawled over to the brunet.

"C-Cry?  Wh-What's--!"

Hiroshi clamped his mouth shut when he saw something glowing.

The silveret shifted Cry's jacket slightly and gasped softly.

There were sea-blue veins starting to edge up further on Cry's neck.

"C-Cry, wh-what is th-tha--?"

The brunet merely tugged his jacket over the veins, chuckling lightly.

"Don't worry.  I'll be fine."

Cry looked up and saw that Slen brought the battle into the jail cell.

Slenderman teleported behind the Oni at random moments, catching the monsters by surprise.

Slen grinned as he sat on Slenderman's shoulder, pumping his tiny fists in the air.

"Go, go, go, Slenderman!"

And then Slenderman's mouth ripped open; it grinned madly as it suddenly chomped off one of the Oni's heads.  Blue blood splattered on the ground.

Cry sweatdropped and quickly covered Hiroshi's eyes with one hand.

"Ah...this might get a bit too violent for you...."

"R-Really!?"

Cry sweatdropped once more when Slen cackled madly as Slenderman took down another Ao Oni.

'This might take a while.....'

~~

"I apologize~sometimes it gets kinda fun when you're killing~!  But it's evil things of course!  I only have fun when it's bad things I kill, hehehehehe~!"

Cry sweatdropped once more, Hiroshi looked at the blue mess on the floor with a dumbfounded expression.

"Y-You killed th-them!?  So easily too!?"

Slen smiled before turning to Cry.

"I'll help you with any other monsters that may come your way.  See ya', Mr. Cry!  Please take care of yourself."

Slenderman waved good bye with Slen as the two disappeared in a cloud of black mist.

Cry looked down at his arm and saw that Slen's tattoo reappeared.

The brunet then walked up to the door and sighed with relief when he opened it.

He then sweatdropped at the scene that greeted him.

Felix was continuously shooting ice balls at a blue blob as Ken and Mark also joined in by kicking it.

"Um.....what did I miss?"

Russ turned to look at the at the gamer and sighed with relief.

"Good to see you, ya' b*****d.  As for what happened.....a kid with red hair approached us.  Felix apparently recognized the kid and shouted something like 'it's the Takuro Oni', and he quickly attacked the kid.  The redhead changed into one of those blue demons after that, but Felix, Ken and Mark apparently had everything under control...."

Cry snickered.

"I see...."

The rest of the LNC, Pewds, Ken, and Mark quickly ran up to Cry and checked him for injures, along with Hiroshi.

~~

"W-We're finally out!"

Hiroshi widened his eyes with shock as he saw the bright, blue sky above him.

The silveret's cried tears of joy as he scrubbed his arm over his eyes.

Cry chuckled and ruffled the kid's hair.

"You should get going, kid."

Hiroshi sniffled before looking up at the brunet.

"B-But what about you?"

"Well....my group and I....we have places to go, people to see, ya' know?"

Hiroshi slowly nodded before holding another key out to Cry.

"I-I don't know where this key leads to, but I feel like you should keep it.  Thank you again, Cry, for helping me!"

The silveret bowed before rushing off.

"I hope to see you again!"

Cry smiled and waved back at Hiroshi.

And then a Tear opened up right next to the group; Cry grinned.

"Well guys, you know the drill."

With that, they all walked through the Tear.
