Chapter 2 Family and Friends
Many years have passed since then and the young Faye is now all grown up. Her life on earth was slightly hard as many saw her as a freak, with her dragon wings and tail. However, that didn't stop her from continuing with school and getting a degree. After she graduated from school Faye went down an interesting career for several years. Now she's retired from that career as it lost its excitement so she's helping her family on a farm they own.
Currently Oliva was in the kitchen washing off some vegetables that were freshly harvested. "Hey Oliva, where's your daughter?" Oliva heard a voice ask.
She looked back and saw her younger sister Sage standing behind her. "Faye? She went out to find a fallen tree. We've run out of wood to sell alongside the crops so she's getting more," Oliva explained as she dried off a fresh organic carrot grown from their farm.
"Alright, I just need to tell her that my daughter, her husband, and their son are coming over for dinner," Sage explained.
"Really? How wonderful! I can't wait to see them again!" Oliva exclaimed.
"Me too... I know this is off topic but I'm glad you found Faye when you did," Sage stated while looking out a window.
"I understand, after all I don't know what would've happened to me if I didn't find her. But I'm not going to think of that, after all it's in the past and I'm focusing on what's happening now," Oliva stated as she grabbed a tomato and began cleaning it of any bugs or dirt. Sage smiled after hearing that from her older sister; grateful that she's still here and alive.
Meanwhile out in a nearby forest, Faye is flying overhead searching around for a fallen tree. Her hair had been cut into a short pixie cut to keep it out of her face. She looked down to the trees and soon spotted a very large fallen tree. Seeing this Faye closed her wings slightly making her go down slowly. After a bit she landed on the ground and took a look at the trees for a bit. "Hmm, looks big enough. So it'll keep us going throughout winter, and we might even be able to sell some of the wood," Faye said as she looked over the wood and felt the bark. The bark felt rough and strong; which was all Faye needed to know about it.
She walked up to the large tree, much bigger than her own body; grabbing it with one hand, she lifted it up on her shoulder. "Alright, not time to get home and start cutting this bad boy up. I do hope mom is finished with dinner as well, I'm starving from all this hard work," Faye said as she began walking home carrying the large tree with her.
Half an hour later at the house a red painted sedan pulled into the driveway. Oliva looked out the window, seeing her niece and her family coming out of the car. Her niece had a plump figure with a cute baby face, long red hair styled up into a braided bun, she wore an orange sweatshirt, white undershirt, a long white skirt and slip on shoes.
Her nephew-in-law came into view, showing him to be of mixed Hispanic and Filipino. He wore a nice black suit with a Pansexual pin on it, his hair smoothed out into a comb over.
Their son came into view, his hair was the same as his mother, his skin being a mix of his parents' race. He wore a nice light blue coat, a dark blue undershirt, gray sweat pants and black shoes. "Hey Sage, your daughter and her family are here," Oliva called out.
"Really? Well then let's go out and greet them!" Sage suggested getting up from the table she was cleaning. Oliva nodded and the two made their way to the front door; picking up their shoes from the rack and slipping them on. With their shoes on the two sisters opened the door and made their way outside.
"Hey Lisa! Morgan! Ivan!" Sage called out speed walking over to the family, her arms open for a hug.
"Hey mom! It's been a long time!" Lisa replied as she opened her arms, hugging her mom warmly.
"Hello Sage, how have you been?" Morgan asked as he walked up to the side of the car Lisa and Sage were at, a warm smile on his face.
"I'm doing well, thank you for asking," Sage answered, returning the same smile her son-in-law had.
"Grandma! Great Aunt Oliva! It's wonderful to see you two again! Where's my aunt Faye?" little Ivan asked.
"My daughter is out getting some fallen trees. After all, winter is coming so we'll need the wood to keep our home warm and sell some of it as well," Oliva informed.
"When will she get back? I wanna play with her! She's so much fun, especially when she takes me out for a fly!!" Ivan exclaimed excitedly.
"We're not sure when she'll be back," Oliva said.
"Hey mom! Hey Aunt Sage!! I'm home!" A warm, energetic voice called out. Everyone turned to their left and saw Faye coming out of the forest with the large tree in her arm.
"Wow! Faye! That's a big tree you found!" Oliva exclaimed, not all that surprised that her daughter was carrying a large tree. She was wondering why Faye would choose such a big tree to bring home.
"I know mom, I wanted us to have enough wood for the winter and sell some of the extra. That way other people who haven't gotten enough wood can get what they need from us and for an affordable price," Faye explained, as she put the tree down right next to her.
"Aww you're such a sweetheart! I can't thank you enough my dear child!" Oliva exclaimed happily.
"Hehe thanks mom!... Hey, is dinner ready? I'm starving," Faye said, as she felt her stomach rumble begging for food.
"It's almost ready, just wait a few more minutes," Sage explained.
"Auntie Fay!" Ivan cried out, after getting a chance to talk.
He ran up to Faye and slammed into her leg, hugging her tightly. "Aww Ivan! You've gotten so much bigger! Have you been following that growth diet I've recommended to you?" Faye asked, while returning Ivan's hug.
"Yeah!! It's worked so well! Thank you! Now I'm as tall as the other kids in my class!!" Ivan exclaimed while looking up at Faye.
"Hehe, I'm glad to hear that. Just don't over do it kiddo I don't want you to get too tall. I wanna be able to carry you for as long as possible, not to mention it'll make flying with you harder," Faye informed.
"Don't worry mom made sure I'm not over doing anything," Ivan reassured.
Faye smiled at that, and picked up her nephew, bringing him up to her own face. "Hey cous why dont you play with Ivan while you wait? I need a moment to rest as I'm expecting right now," Lisa informed, while patting her stomach.
"Wait really?! OMG! Congrats Lisa! Congrats Morgan!" Faye cried out, rushing over to the couple and hugging them both.
"Ahh! Another Grandbaby! Congratulations Sage!" Oliva exclaimed.
"Thank you sis!! And now we have more to celebrate! My daughter's pregnancy and Faye's 47th birthday!" Sage exclaimed.
"I still can't believe you're that old now. You look so young, like you're eighteen or seventeen, how do you even do it?" Morgan asked, impressed by Faye's young appearance.
"I'm not even sure, but I do like it," Faye informed, pushing a tuft of hair behind her ear.
"Auntie! I WANNA FLY! I WANNA FLY!!" Ivan cried, roughly pulling on Faye's tail.
"OWOW!! Okay! Okay! We'll talk more later! I don't wanna keep my nephew waiting!" Faye cried out in pain, as she picked Ivan up and ran off with him.
"Hehe, looks like Ivan is gonna exhaust Faye by dinner," Lisa commented.
"Hehe, he might, but Faye will always have her large appetite," Oliva informed.
"If that's the case we all should get going and finish the cooking, we're having guests over. So we're going to need lots of food, to feed everyone and most importantly Faye," Sage stated.
Meanwhile out in the deep depths of space on a far away planet, a band of rebels sat in their hideout. The rebels were planning their next move of the twin emperors. The leader sat in his office, staring out of the window lost in deep thought. He thought about his home planet, how it had been destroyed and his family killed.
"Soran, Ivis. I swear one day I'll kill you both! You two are going to pay for everything you've done," he growled bitterly, gritting his teeth as his muscles tensed up.
"Sacha! I have great news!" A woman called out as she entered Sacha's room.
"What is it?" Sacha asked.
"It's your little sister Aurora! She's alive!" the woman cried out.
Sacha whipped his chair over to face the woman and screamed, "WHAT?!"
"I know! She's on a planet known as earth!" the woman informed Sacha, showing a data pad that had an image of earth on it.
"Earth? Hmm I have heard of it a few times. It's in a very isolated galaxy that hardly shows up on the radar. Very little is known about it for that very reason, but it is a good place to hide. Pazit take me there at once, I want to find her," Sacha commanded.
"But why? Your sister is safe and sound on earth so wouldn't you want it to remain that way?" Pazit asked.
"I do but if we have found out about where she is then it's only a matter of time before Soran and Ivis discover the same information. And when they do they'll surely destroy it like they did with so many other planets I was on. So I want to prevent any more innocent lives being lost because of them," Sacha informed, his face covered with a serious look.
"That's true but I dont think she'd want to leave the planet she's lived on for so long now," Pazit suggested.
"I know but she's not going to leave forever," Sacha stated.
"She won't? What do you mean by that sir?" Pazit asked.
"I'm going to train her and we're going to work together to kill those two emperor twins! I'm done with running away from and being afraid of them! The universe will never be safe as long as they are around, so my sister and I will kill them, avenge our parents, our people, and our home planet!" Sacha declared triumphantly, the fire of vengeance burning in his eyes.
"Really? Well then I shall get the ship ready at once for you sir," Pazit responded before leaving the room.
Once again alone Sacha looked outside of the window of his base, deep in his thoughts. He wondered what his little sister would be like now, she was so young when she had been sent away. "If my math is correct she's most likely eighteen by now so she'll be able to do the transformation. If so then I need to hurry before she turns and unknowingly harms someone badly," Sacha stated as he thought about his little sister.
Meanwhile back on earth Faye was flying through the sky with her nephew Ivan riding on her back. "Wee! This is so much fun!" Ivan exclaimed. "If you think that's fun then wait till what I do next!!" Faye cried out before diving down.
Ivan screamed as he gripped onto Faye as hard as he could during the free fall. Faye soon saw water rapidly approaching them, she grinned as she opened her wings, slowing herself down mildly. Ivan looked and trembled in fear in slight excitement, curious on what Faye was planning to do. Right before they crashed into the water Faye stopped the free fall entirely. She now began gliding above the water gently looking at her own reflection.
"Hey Ivan, you can open your eyes now," Faye informed.
Ivan opened his eyes and saw how he was now gliding across the water on his aunt's back. "Ohh! The water is so beautiful! Swimming in it is almost like flying! Hey auntie, how long can you hold your breath under the water?" Ivan asked.
"Hmm around five or so hours I believe," Faye answered. "Wow! You're so cool! No wonder you were a famous sports star," Ivan complemented.
"Yeah but that life got too boring for me," Faye commented.
She flew for a bit longer until she saw a small fishing yacht up ahead. Feeling mischievous Faye decided to surprise them by dropping out of the sky and right onto the boat. "Hey Ivan, hold on! I'm gonna play a little joke on the passengers on the ship," Faye informed, a slight grin appearing on her face.
"Alright Auntie," Ivan replied gripping onto Faye once again. Faye smirked and blasted upward into the sky as fast as she could. Once she was a few feet in the sky again she looked down to see she was right above the boat. Mischief crawling through her body Faye closed her wings once again free falling.
A man walked out onto the boat with a fishing rod in hand, excited to do some fishing. However as soon as he was outside Faye crashed onto the deck's floor; thankfully, not causing any damage. The man looked and saw Faye standing up straight with Ivan holding onto her back.
"Huh?! Faye! What are you doing here?!" The man asked, surprised and a little shaken by Faye's sudden entrance.
"Just dropping in, Thomas! Hehe," Faye giggled at her pun.
"Oh, Hehe, good one... Hey, who's that kid on your back?" Thomas asked, pointing to Ivan.
"Auntie, how do you know this man?" Ivan asked.
"This is Thomas, we met during one of my Hapkido matches. We got along pretty well and have been good friends ever since. And Thomas, this is Ivan, he's my cousin's son and I'm taking out for a fly before we have some dinner for my birthday," Faye explained.
"Really? Well then happy birthday Faye. And sorry I haven't been in touch with you for a while now, after I got an office job things have gotten pretty busy," Thomas explained while scratching the back of his neck.
"It's alright, I've been busy on the farm with mom as well. It's not as exciting as being a champion sports woman, but it keeps me busy and motivated," Faye said.
"Yeah you did get bored with your sports and fighting career since you won every contest you entered," Thomas commented.
"Hey Auntie, do you ever miss being a fighter? Or traveling for your contests?" Ivan asked.
"Sometimes I do, but no one gives me the exciting rush I get whenever I fight someone. Everyone I've met and fought just wasn't a challenge and it got boring. Although I do wish I could meet someone out there who would finally give me that rush and thrill of adrenaline I had before," Faye spoke as she looked up into the sky, a far off look in her eyes.
"Auntie are you alright?" Ivan asked as he let go and slid down to Faye's tail.
"I think I know what's up with her kid," Thomas said as he walked up to Faye and rested a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Your auntie wants to know why she has wings and tail. Right Faye, is that what you're asking yourself?" Thomas asked.
"Yeah, I-I just have so many questions about myself. I'm the only human on earth who has them and I don't understand why? I've wanted to know why for so long but I just don't have any answers to it. Sometimes i-it feels like that I'm not even from here," Faye answered as she walked to the edge of the boat and looked down into the water.
"Auntie!" Ivan called out gently as he speed walked over to Faye and hugged her leg.
"Faye, listen, I know you feel alienated from everyone else because of your wings and tail, but I know you are a human no matter what. After all you're kind, gentle, and so much more," Thomas reassured.
"I know you and many others have told me that, but I don't think words are going to help me out here. I-I just wish that I knew why I have them, why I'm like this, and so much more," Faye said as she looked at the sky, her thoughts drifting off. She wondered who she is and why she's so different from everyone else, and asking herself who she's meant to be.
