Chapter 37

Harry's POV

"Harry, will you please stop pacing?" Ginny sighed in frustration.

"Yeah, Harry," Hermione agreed. "Teddy's only a little over a year old!"

"Well, the first impression matters," I muttered.

"Yeah, Harry. The boy's one year old. I'm pretty sure he'll remember what you were like when he was one!" Ginny snapped sarcastically.

"But I want to be a good godfather to him," I argued. "I want him to know he can always turn to me."

"And you think the way you look will effect that?" Hermione asked, incredulously.

"Well, not just the way I look," I hesitated. "The way I act and the way I......talk and everything."

"Harry, you're stressing out about nothing!" Ginny said.

"What's up with you lot?" George asked, strolling over.

"Harry just found out Andromeda's bringing Teddy over and now he's gone bonkers," Hermione explained.

"Well, excuse me if I want to be a good godfather like Sirius!" I replied with a pout.

"I guess I'll see you guys later," George muttered. "Ron's arguing with mum."

"About what?" I demanded.

"The Christmas jumper," he sniggered.

"Oh, merlin!" Hermione laughed. George walked away and the three of us got back to arguing about Teddy. In the end, the girls did convince me to loosen up. I don't know what it was but, there was just something about Teddy. He was different compared to any other toddler I had seen. I had only seen photos of Teddy, but I really felt something for him. Firstly, he just seemed so innocent and gullible that all you wanted to do was pinch his cheeks and keep kissing him, and secondly, Lupin and Tonks had died to protect me.

"Harry, how are you doing, dear?" Andromeda's voice boomed around the house.

"Hi, Dora," I smiled. "I'm doing fine, thanks."

"Harry Potter," said Ted, her husband, coming into the room. "Well you look just the same! Apart from the fact that you need a shave!" He was a jolly man with a smiling face and a round belly.

"You don't look too bad yourself, Ted," I grinned.

They both came inside where Mrs Weasley ushered them into the kitchen.

"Tea, anyone?" she chirped.

"Yes, please," said Ted loudly. "I don't get one cup of it at home."

"That's because I'm busy with little Teddy," Dora said.

"A cup of tea takes only five minutes though," Ted argued. I tried to hide my smirk. It was amusing to see two old people squabble like that.

"Why don't you make your own tea then, if it's so easy?"

"Okay, er, I'll get you both cups of tea," said Mrs Weasley, backing away towards the kettle in the corner.

"Hey, Dora," I said. "Mind if I take Teddy for a while?"

Her face broke out into a smile as she handed him to me. "Of course, dear," she said. "You're his godfather after all!"

I took him gingerly into my arms and strolled out to the backyard. He was perfect. His hair was a cool turquoise and his eyes kept changing colour due to his mother being Tonks.

When I sat down on the grass, he reached out with his tiny hands, as if to grab something and kI watched him curiously. He closed his fist when a gust of wind blew and then after a moment he opened it again. I realised he was trying to hold the air and it was the most adorable thing. His eyes were a deep green right now, kind of like mine, and they were filled with wonder as they took everything in.

"Hi, Teddy," I said after a while. I knew he couldn't talk, but right now, just saying things to him seemed like a good plan.

"I'm Harry," I grinned down at him. A look of recognition passed over his face and he smiled. I leaned forward and tickled him on his stomach and he let out an adorable giggle.

"Mind if I call you, Teddy Bear?" I whispered to him. He just looked back at me curiously.

"I'm sure he does," said a voice.

"Yeah, next thing you know, Harry will start talking to him about who knows what," another voice put in. I turned around to see Ginny and Hermione standing there with smiles on their faces.

"What's that supposed to mean?" i asked.

"Nothing," Hermione shrugged. "We're just teasing you."

"Yeah, well thanks for that," I muttered.

"He is adorable," Ginny said.

"I know," I agreed. "Look at his eyes!"

"They're like yours," she said softly.

"For now," I grinned.

"And his hair is so beautiful! I bet that'll change colour too," Hermione gushed.

I laid Teddy down on the grass but as soon as I did so, he started whimpering and reaching out to me with his hands.

"Oh Merlin's beard, Harry. He likes you!" Ginny squealed, and I grinned in delight. Some people would say there was nothing manly about this situation and I shouldn't have been all soft and cuddly, but there was just something about Teddy that made you want to coo at him all day.

I lifted him back in my arms and started cradling him. He looked up at me with his big green eyes and reached up to touch my glasses. He started tugging at them and giggling. With a sigh, I took them off and handed them to him.

"There you go, Teddy bear," I chuckled. "Even though now I'm seeing double...."
