Chapter 16

Draco did not turn up for the next two weeks and on the thirteenth day, Harry was seriously considering sending Kreacher out to look for him. He could be anywhere and in any state. He could be in a dark cell being tortured every day for all they knew.

Professor McGonagall had been informed about the incident at the party and she had been mortified, claiming there was no way someone could have apparated into Hogwarts without her knowledge. Nevertheless, she had said that the matter was being looked into and that the aurors had been alerted of Draco's kidnapping. They had checked everywhere but had not managed to find him.

"Harry, you need to do it!"

"No, not in this weather."

"You can't put it off forever, mate."

"Look, I'll do it next week, okay?"

"No!"

Harry, Ron and Hermione were seated at the dinner table in the Great Hall and Ron and Hermione were trying to talk Harry into holding tryouts for the Quiditch team.

Harry sighed, knowing they were right. He had put it off for way too long. He should have done it at the beginning of October but the task had slipped his mind. At the end of November, the Quiditch Cup would begin and he desperately needed a strong team by then.

"Alright," he decided. "I'll do it."

"Good," said Hermione. She had for some very odd reason started taking an interest in Quiditch.

"When are you planning on holding try outs then?" Ron asked, shoving a spoonful of mashed potatoes into his mouth.

"Tomorrow," replied Harry.

**************

The next day, it started drizzling in the morning and Harry was feeling nervous as ever. He wanted to pick a strong team and make sure they won the Cup. He knew he would pick Ron to be Keeper, but what if there was someone better than him?

Plenty of people had turned up, though he highly doubted all if them were there to try out for the team. Sure enough, only a few of the students walked up when he called everyone who wanted to try out to stand at the edge of the pitch. Romilda Vane and her gaggle of friends were giggling away and would actually swoon when he said basically anything. It was getting on Harry's nerves.

"Okay, so I want the Keepers to try out last," he said and four students made their way to sit in the stands. Good, he thought. Four people meant less competition for Ron.

The beaters were all incredibly talented, but in the end Harry picked two identical twins called Roger and Andrew Bishop to play the part. They reminded him of Fred and George with their cocky remarks and goofy smiles.

Picking the chasers was easy too. Alicia Spinnet who was in his year and had returned after the battle, had tried out. He had immediately chosen her. He was pleasantly surprised when he saw Ginny in the group lf people wanting to be Chasers.

"I didn't know you wanted to be a Chaser," Harry said to her as everyone was lining up.

"I wanted to be a Seeker, but since you already are one, I decided to give this a shot"

"You'll be a great one," smiled Harry. "I saw you in my sixth year, remember? You were amazing!" Ginny turned scarlet, but smiled.

"Good luck, Gin," Harry whispered as Ginny threw the Quaffle. In the end, it was no surprise when Harry picked her. She had been amazing and had been able to shoot perfectly. The other chaser, Justin Rustings, was in his fourth year and knew how to score well.

Finally, it was time to pick a Keeper. Harry had gotten the new Chasers to try to shoot the Quaffle through the hoops and one by one each of the students wanting to be the Keeper would try to block them. Whoever blocked the most goals would get the position of Keeper. He could only hope Ron did well since that would mean that both Ginny and Ron were on his team.

"Alright, Frank," he said reading the name for a list. "Show us what you can do."

Frank could only save three out of six shots and Harry knew he wouldn't make it. The next person to try out was a blonde girl called Lucy Dawson and he had to admit she was good.

Soon the only person left was Ron. Lucy had managed to save four shots and so had another sixth year so all he had to do was save five and he would get the position of Keeper.

"Okay, go," said Harry, and Ginny threw the Quaffle. Harry watched as Ron easily blocked the middle goal post and that was where Ginny had aimed, so the Quaffle did not make it through the hoop. The next three shots were tough, thrown by a very enthusiastic Alecia Spinnet who was eager to score, but in the end Ron managed to save them.

One more, thought Harry as he watched Ron. He looked confident and that was good. The next shot was taken by Justin Rustey. He threw the Qwaffle and Ron watched as it sailed through the air. He was guarding the right goalpost but the Quaffle was headed for the middle one. At the very end, Ron desperately stuck his leg out, thereby preventing it from going through the hoop.

Harry grinned from ear to ear. This was great.

"Alright, I know you guys are very great players and I'm sure that with our teamwork and good skills, we will definitely win the Cup." he was saying, careful not to make a long speech.

"When's the first practice?" asked Justin, running a hand through his dark, curly hair.

"It's this Sunday so relax this week and be here at five on Sunday, everyone. After that, I'll hold a practice session every Friday. Got it?" They all nodded and Harry smiled. Soon they were exchanging high fives and grins as the team made their way back to the castle.

***************************************************************

It was a dull and cold day and Harry, Ginny and Ron were sitting under a tall oak tree in the grounds. It was a very rare sunny day and students were making the most of it by taking their work outside or simply going outside to chat. Hermione had disappeared into the library to finish her Potions essay early and had left with a glare, and a warning that she would not be lending her notes to anybody this year when the others had refused to go with her.

They sat there for an hour, having nothing else to do and feeling too stressed about Draco's disappearance. Ginny had fallen asleep and Harry and Ron were watching the dark blue sky aimlessly when suddenly a grey tawny owl swooped down and dropped a letter in Harry's lap.

"Hey, i've seen this owl somewhere before." said Harry as he tore open the letter.

"Who's it from?" cried Ron.

" Draco!" replied Harry, his voice laced with shock as he began to read.

"Hi guys,

Don't worry about me i'm okay. Well if you call staying in a house crammed with death eaters and having to listen to them talk about building an army, okay.

I don't have much time but i'll try to tell you as much as i can. The man who came and supposedly kidnapped me was Rodolphius Lestrange. The Death esters are planning something. I don't know what but it's something big.The leader is the werewolf: Fenir Greyback. He has started building up an army and it's going to be huge as now the deatheaters' kids are there too. My dad told me that they are first going to try and break up the golden trio.(Harry, Ron and Hermione and then Dumbledore's Army.i don't know how but please stay close to each other and don't fight or misunderstand one another. When I come back to Hogwarts, I'm supposed to pass secret information about you guys to my dad. I really don't have a choice because this way at least I'll be able to see what they are planning and tell the Order about it. ! I'll pass some false information to my father to keep them off course.

I'm serious about them trying to split you up so be careful who you talk to.

_Draco

P.S please tell Lavender i'll be back after Christmas and that i'm fine.."

Harry folded up the letter and glanced at Ron.

"Well what do we do now" asked Ron going pale. Ginny was now sitting up and looking as scared as ever.

Harry sighed. He was really frustrated and angry now. Voldemort was gone! So why did they have to take revenge now? Everyone was so safe and happy until then and now this had happened. The thought of Fenir Greyback caused him to shiver. He had never spoken to him or seen him properly but he lnew what had happened to Lupin, Bill and Lavender and that was enough to make his skin crawl. He knew he had to act brave and tough for the others though.

"It'll be okay guys. Draco said they'd try to split us up, so all we have to do is have faith in one another. I have complete faith in you all," said Harry, with a weak smile.

"Well i guess we should go find Hermione now." said Ginny.

"Yeah," said Harry, getting up.

"So much for finally having a normal year," Ron chuckled.
