Jeongguk didn't see Taehyung the next day.

He didn't come to greet Jeongguk at the hallway in the morning like he did every other day. He didn't attend the English period and skipped the chemistry period, which were the only classes he had with Jeongguk. It was unlikely of him to skip classes like that. Nor did Jeongguk see him in lunch, in their usual spot at the back of the cafeteria.

"Yo where the hell is Taehyung? Didn't see him all day" Namjoon voiced out Jeongguk's thoughts.

"Neither did I " Jimin said, taking a sip from his avocado smoothie.

"Saw him this morning near the art room. Was with Jessica" Hoseok said nonchalantly as he examined his lousy burger.

"What?!" Jeongguk said a little too loudly, making a couple of passing students turn their heads.

His friends were watching him with confusion.

"Nothing new, right? Taehyung had gotten himself a new girl to flirt with" Namjoon said.

Jeongguk felt a pang in his chest. After all that happened yesterday, Taehyung would go to Jessica? What business does he possibly have with her?

"Poor girl. I doubt they'd last more than 2 months. Not a single relationship of Taehyung lasted more than two months. We were all surprised when he lasted with Kenzy for 2 months" Namjoon said, laughing.

All the others joined in. Except Jeongguk. He couldn't bring himself to laugh. He had been in love with Taehyung since forever. He hated each and every one of his ex-girlfriends.

"But Jessica's the hottest chick in school. Maybe they'd last longer. Who knows?" Hoseok said.

"She runs her mouth all over school. There isn't a single senior she hadn't hooked up with. And Taehyung's not the type to hook up with every chick he meets. Maybe they wouldn't last" Jimin piped in.

The others nodded in agreement.

"Ya'll I can't believe we're going to Seokjin's party tonight" Namjoon was literally bouncing on his chair. "I've always wanted to go to one of his parties. We never get invited to those. All the cool kids are there. And the girls are hot as fuck"

"Well it's all thanks to our little Jeonggukie here" Jimin said, smiling at Jeongguk.

Jeongguk smiled back nervously. He had been exited to go to the party. But if Taehyung wasn't going, he didn't want to go either.

All that day, he'd been anxious if he'd scared Taehyung away. The guy was surely straight  or why else would he be freaked out from that?

But it wasn't Jeongguk's fault either. It's not like he told Taehyung to grind on his dick.

"Ok I'll pick you guys at ten" Hoseok said.

The rest of the group nodded in agreement, right before the bell rang.

Jeongguk didn't see Taehyung for the rest of the day either. He didn't even catch a  glimpse if him. He was obviously avoiding Jeongguk.

Jeongguk now slowly made his way towards his dorm, lost in thought, after school was over.

He missed not talking to Taehyung. He always rambled on and on about his day to Jeongguk and Jeongguk was ecstatic to hear him ramble on.

He missed it. Even though it had only been a day without him.

Their dorms were in the same building but just a couple of rooms apart. So after school was over, if Taehyung didn't have football practice, they'd walk together to their dorms. Their backpacks clinging from their shoulders and hands swaying as they walked, sometimes Jeongguk's hand would brush against Taehyung's. In those moments, his heart would skip a beat. He'd  avert his gaze to Taehyung's to see if he had noticed that their hands had brushed, but he'd either continue talking or keep staring at the road ahead, as if it hadn't affected him as much as it had to Jeongguk.

Jeongguk was always ecstatic to receive the briefest of touches from Taehyung. But Taehyung obviously didn't get affected by them. At all.

But that was okay. Jeongguk was used to it.

Now he jogged down the road, feeling lonely without Taehyung by his side. He was about to take his phone from his pocket and plug in his headphones when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

Jeongguk whirled around to see who the intruder of his personal space was. His eyes were met with dark orbs and thick eyebrows staring right back at him.

Taehyung stood before him, expressionless.

Jeongguk's heart skipped a beat upon seeing his best friend, who is also his biggest crush.

"Jeongguk" he spoke. Jeongguk just stared, a million thoughts crossing his mind per second and heart beating fast from anxiety. He was scared of what Taehyung was going to say.

"I'm sorry about what happened yesterday" Taehyung said, fumbling with his fingers. He looked nervous, Jeongguk thought. Which was much unlike his usual self who was always arrogant and confident. "It didn't mean anything to me"

Jeongguk's heart dropped.

"And I don't want it coming between our friendship. I can't have anything coming between us. I've known for forever,  Ggukkie. I'm sorry of it made you uncomfortable. I just-"

"I get it" Jeongguk cut him off. He didn't want to hear anymore of how Taehyung didn't feel the slightest bit of affection towards him other than how he was affectionate towards him as a friend.

"I hope everything would go back to how they were" Taehyung said, not meeting Jeongguk's eyes.

"Yeah me too. Our friendship is more important to me than anything" Jeongguk said. It was the truth. He couldn't even handle going a single day without seeing Taehyung. It would kill him if something happens to their friendship.

"Thanks Ggukie" Taehyung said,  smiling at him.

"Why are you thanking me?"

"I thought...I just couldn't face you today after that. I was too afraid that it would affect our friendship"

"We're okay, Taehyung. Let's forget it ever happened"

Taehyung flashed his signature boxy smile at Jeongguk, who returned it with his own bunny smile.

They started walking towards the forms together.

"I heard you were talking to Jessica this morning" Jeongguk said, just to make small talk.

"Yeah. I kind of like her"

"Oh" Jeongguk's heart shattered. Of course. Of course he likes Jessica. They've been texting for a while now...

"I mean I don't like like her. But she's cool and worth a shot" Taehyung said.

Jeongguk hummed in agreement, even though all he wanted to was tell Taehyung to stop going after girls.

But Jeongguk was never brave enough to say that or to confess to Taehyung about his feelings. It was more than obvious that Taehyung didn't feel the same way about Jeongguk.

"I'm exited for the party tonight. Jessica is coming too" Taehyung said grinning.

"Jin hyung is really cool for inviting us" Jeongguk said.

Taehyung frowned at Jeongguk. "I swear if he makes a move on you-"

"Why do you care?!" Jeongguk almost shouted.

Taehyung was taken aback. "Because...because he's a literal man-whore!"

Jeongguk rolled his eyes.

They had arrived at Jeongguk's dorm room already. They halted before bidding goodbye to each other and departing.

Jeongguk watched Taehyung walk away from him.

"Hobi will come and pick us up at nine!" Jeongguk shouted after Taehyung.

The taller boy turned and smirked at Jeongguk, doing a finger-gun gesture at him and winking, before turning his back to him again.

That is so gay Jeongguk thought as he watched Taehyung jog upto his own dorm room.
