Lucky Ones~ 3
"Every now and then, the stars align
Boy and girl meet by the great design
Could it be that you and me are the lucky ones?"

"Miss—"
"I don't wanna hear it."
"Please, just—"
"LUCINA, I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES."
There was a dead silence in the classroom.
It was practically empty, just Bayonetta, Lucina, and Palutena and Pit minding their business in the back trying to print out some papers.
Bayonetta pushes up her glasses and looked Lucina straight in the eye.
"First, you skip school for three FULL DAYS, then, you stride back in with an attitude and was so disrespectful, and NOW, you expect me to let you get a retake on the test."
"Please, my dad is gonna kill me—"
"Well maybe you should've thought about that before you went on your bad streak."
Lucina's head dropped, now looking down at her feet.
Bayonetta sighed, gently prodding Lucina's chin to make her look back up.
"Dear, I don't know what's going on with you. You're not a bad kid but I can tell you're slowly getting yourself into bad places. I can see it in your eyes... just rest for now. And please understand that I can't just let you retake the test that you had so much time to study for."
Lucina nodded.
"Now please, go home and get some sleep."
Palutena and Pit watched her grab her backpack and leave the classroom. They immediately turned back the other way, not wanting Bayonetta to see that they eavesdropped.
"Has she told you anything?" Pit whispered.
"No... I haven't really bothered with it." Palutena answered truthfully. Yes, the two girls were roommates but they weren't exactly close. They were sort of getting there.
"You should talk to her."
"I'm not someone she'd tell all to."
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, before a large man walked in.
Ganon, their history teacher, strode into the classroom, immediately going to Bayonetta.
Ganon made everyone uncomfortable. Everyone. They didn't really know how, but he just did.
"Miss B, may I speak to you for a minute?" He asked.
Bayonetta smiled and nodded, following him out the door.
"What if he gets all creepy on her...?" Pit asked.
"I'm pretty sure Miss Bayonetta could defend herself... but still... you know..."
"Yeah... oh hey, I was supposed to meet that new kid down by the hotdog place."
"Oh that's fine."
"Yeah... uhh, I'll see you later!" Pit said while grabbing his bag, waving to Palutena as he ran out the door.
••••••
Lucina knew Palutena wouldn't be home for a while. The green haired girl had plans with Peach for the night.
She roamed around the house, taking groggy and sloppy steps. Her eyes glistened red, and her face was stained with tear tracks.
She looked like a mess.
And she wasn't prepared at all for the knock she heard at the door.
She walked over to it, and without thinking, opened the door before even checking who it was.
"Lucina?"
Robin.
"Hey..."
"What's going on?? Why are you all..." Robin gestures to the messy hair and her red eyes.
"Uhm... it's just... it's nothi—"
"Luce, you don't have to lie to me."
Lucina paused abruptly.
That sentence alone sent a feeling throughout her head. Suddenly, her eyes let out tears once again, and Lucina let out an accidental loud sob.
Robin quickly wrapped his arms around her, letting her sob into his shirt.
"You wanna go somewhere private so we could talk about this?" He whispered. Lucina could only nod.
••••••
The smoke from their cigarettes floated out of the parked car.
They drove over to the beach on the other side of town. Stopping at a small parking lot in front of the stairs that led down to the beach.
Lucina's sobs were gone, but she still remained quiet, and her eyes still had a red tint to them.
"Did you still wanna talk? Or we can just sit... and smoke... if you prefer..."
Lucina smiled. Not a pure smile, but a more tired and depressing smile. "Uhm, well..."
Lucina leaned back in her seat, tilting her head up at the roof of the car.
"My dad and I got into a fight 'cause he—"
"Found your marijuana and shit."
"Yeah... and he bullshitted my reasons too."
"I'm sorry Lu."
"It's fine. It's just the way he spoke that day just ruined me."
Silence. The sounds from outside, the waves crashing, people laughing, the seagulls, filled their atmosphere.
"Thanks for talking to me about it." Lucina mumbled.
"Thanks for telling me."
Lucina put her cig in the ashtray before leaning back into Robin's lap. "Although this isn't gonna stop my dad from killing me." She chuckled.
"Oh you'll be fine. You're like, thousands of miles away from each other now." Robin laughed.
Robin let his fingers run through her blue hair, twisting the strands at the ends.
"We should do this more often." He stated.
"Yeah... do you plan on doing anything later?"
"Nope."
"Okay great—" Lucina paused as she sat up. "I need your help with something."
••••••
"Uh, thanks for picking me up... I didn't think we'd get all the way across town."
"Pssh, don't worry about it, Pit." Palutena said reassuringly to him.
The two sat in her small car, driving back home. Pit had hung out with the new kid today, and apparently they got so lost in enjoyment that somehow they ventured all the way across town."
"So... your friend got picked up?" Pat asked.
"Yeah, his grandpa."
"Cool, cool."
"So, have you gotten to talk to Lucina? You know, since Peach had to cancel today..."
"No actually. I guess she went out I guess. But still, I don't think it's my place to say anything."
"Yeah... hey, did you hear about those vandals that marked up the church a few days ago?"
A few days ago, some vandals trashed up the old walls of the decaying church building with what was probably gang signs and stuff like that.
It got a lot of people's attention, apparently. But rumors were going around that this one man had bought the church but for private reasons.
Pit didn't know much about this stuff, but apparently some people had thought the man was strange... and dark, and creepy. Apparently very built too, so that's what some people were afraid of.
"I heard a bit about that. I heard a lot of stuff about the new property owner... said they had stuff planned for the next four years or so."
"Yeah... it sounds strange though, right?"
"Eh, a bit. I... don't really get into this kind of stuff so..."
"Mmm... yeah, me too. Hey, can we stop for a chicken sandwich here?"
~~~
"Everybody told me love was blind
Then I saw your face and you blew my mind
Finally, you and me are the lucky ones this time"
