097. the end of the affair

Sienna couldn't explain the feeling in her chest, as she got out of the vehicle, and took in the familiar scenery of Mystic Falls.

Astrid got out of the car, and skipped over to Sienna, before she smiled brightly. "This town is cute, Cece!" She insisted. Sienna smiled back at the guardian, "I think you're gonna like it." She admitted, as Astrid seemed to be a small town kinda girl.

Unlike her twin.

Ava got out of the car, groaning as she held her phone up to the sky. "Why am I not getting any reception?" She huffed, annoyed. "We're in the middle of nowhere, Avs." Astrid laughed nervously at her sister.

Lydia approached her children, her heeled boots clicking on the ground as she did. "We're gonna build a life together here... I can see it." The Meyer smiled. Astrid smiled, seeming excited, while Ava still looked bothered.

Sienna on the other hand, felt out of place... sure, they were her family, but it didn't feel like it. She had only learnt that they existed recently... she grew up with the Lockwoods, they were her family.

"Anyway. We have some unpacking to do." Lydia reminded them, before her eyes averted to their new home.

The vehicle came to a stop, as Klaus, Stefan, Isaiah and Lexa got out of it.

"Welcome back to Chicago, Isaiah, Stefan." Klaus stated. Isaiah looked around, remembering spending time here during the 20's.

"What are we doing here?" Lexa asked, curiously. "I know how much Stefan loved it here." Klaus said, glancing at the heretic before he looked to Stefan. "Bringing back memories of the good old ripper days?" He asked.

"Blacked out most of them. A lot of blood, a lot of partying. The details are all a blur." Stefan confessed. "Well, that is a crying shame." Klaus admitted. "The details are what make it legend." Isaiah insisted, leading the group somewhere. Lexa felt out of the loop, but followed anyway.

"Chicago was magical." Klaus began, looking to Lexa as he seemed to hope she was interested in this story. "Yeah, well, I'll take your word for it. Like I said, I don't remember most of it." Stefan reminded the older Mikealson.

"Going to get down to business, then?" Isaiah asked, but Stefan ignored him and turned to Klaus. "Why am I still with you? We had our fun, your hybrids failed. I mean, don't you want to move on?" He asked.

"We're going to see my favorite witch." Klaus began, before he gave Lexa a quick glance. "My second favourite witch." He corrected himself before he continued, "If anyone can help us with our hybrid problem, it's her."

Lexa snorted in response to Klaus' comment, though she was glad to know that he wasn't pestering her to try and find a solution to this problem. She wasn't willing to help him, especially because she was the reason it wasn't working. Elena was supposed to be sacrificed, and instead she was still alive.

"Looks familiar, doesn't it?" Isaiah asked Stefan, as the group approached a bar. "I can't believe this place is still here." Stefan confessed, in surprise. "Great..." Lexa began, realising that it was a bar. "If I have to be around you Mikealsons for much longer, I'm gonna need a drink." She declared. "Rude." Isaiah said dryly, before the four walked inside.

"You got to be kidding me." Gloria, the bartender blurted in surprise, as Klaus just smiled. "So a hybrid walks into a bar, says to the bartender..." The older Mikealson trailed off before Gloria huffed, "Stop. You may be invincible, but that doesn't make you funny."

Gloria looked to Isaiah and Stefan before saying, "I remember you two." And then to Lexa. "You certainly look familiar." She confessed. "Oh... I doubt it was me that you saw." Lexa admitted. "That it wasn't. The girl you're thinking of is Natalia Petrova." Isaiah corrected her.

"You're Gloria. Shouldn't you be..." Stefan trailed off before Gloria answered, "Old and dead? Now if I die, who's going to run this place, huh?"

"Gloria's a very powerful witch." Klaus explained. "I can slow the aging down some. Herbs and spells. But don't worry, it'll catch up to me one day." Gloria explained to Stefan and Lexa.

"Lexa, why don't you go and fix us up a little something from behind the bar?" Klaus asked the doppelgänger, who just snorted in amusement. "Yeah no. Fuck off." She decided, not willing to make him a drink. The older Mikealson decided to play with her response, "Are you offering?"

The Gilbert rolled her eyes, before she walked towards the bar, and grabbed a bottle of whiskey and a glass. She sat atop the bar counter and poured herself a glass of whiskey.

Klaus then looked to Stefan, but didn't say anything. "Fine." Stefan responded, before he walked towards the bar to make the group each a drink while Klaus and Gloria talked, and tried to figure out why the hybrid Mikealson couldn't create more hybrids.

Stefan and Lexa shared a look, as Lexa offered him her glass of whiskey. Wordlessly, he took it from her and had a sip, before he returned the glass to her.

"I'll need help. Bring me Rebekah." Gloria suddenly said. "Rebekah. Rebekah is a bit preoccupied." Klaus declared, hoping there was another solution. "She has what I need. Bring her to me." Gloria ordered Klaus.

Meanwhile, Stefan seemed fixated at something on the wall. "Lexa.." He said quietly, catching her attention. Lexa looked over to see what he was staring at, and her eyes widened when she realised what it was.

On the wall, hung a picture of Stefan, Isaiah and Klaus, with their arms around eachother. Lexa and Stefan walk over to examine the picture more, before the Salvatore pulled it off of the wall.

"What is this?" Stefan asked, before he approached Klaus, Isaiah and Gloria. "Well, I told you, Stefan. Chicago's a magical place." Klaus then answered. "But this is me. With the two of you.."

Sometime later, the group were walking through a warehouse. Stefan still held the photo in his hand, looking completely puzzled. "This doesn't make any sense. Why don't I remember you?" He asked. Klaus replied, "You said it yourself... that time had a lot of dark holes." Stefan shook his head, "No, if you knew me, then why haven't you said anything?"

Isaiah sighed, wanting his twin to be undaggered and awoken, so he confessed with sass, "Klaus is busy right now. Memory Lane will have to wait."

"What the hell is going on? Answer me!" Stefan demanded, stopping Klaus now, which only frustrated Isaiah. "Let's just say we didn't get off to a brilliant start. To be honest, I hated you."

With that, Klaus explained to Stefan how he knew him and Isaiah back in the 1920s, but also Rebekah, the Original sibling they were going to awaken.

"Your sister..." Lexa trailed off, as she processed this story. "So I knew another Original vampire." Stefan blurted, in surprise. "Don't ask, if you can't handle the truth." Isaiah huffed, before he walked by a number of coffins, and stopped at one in particular.

"Is that... your family?" Lexa asked, as Isaiah nodded. "In boxes? Tell me that you can see how that is weird." The heretic blurted to him. "Oh it is weird. You can ask Klaus about that." Isaiah suggested, throwing shade at his older brother.

Klaus ignored Isaiah, and nudged him aside so that he could open Rebekah's coffin. Stefan and Lexa peered into it, not recognising her.

"I don't recognize her." Stefan confessed to Klaus. "Well, don't tell her that. Rebekah's temper is worse than mine." Klaus suggested, before he wrapped his fingers around the dagger and ripped it out of her chest.

"Time to wake up, twin sister." Isaiah said, hoping it wouldn't take too long, as he was excited to see her but as moments passed, she remained unconscious. "Any day now, Rebekah— She's being dramatic." Klaus insisted to Stefan.

Isaiah sighed, before he plonked himself by Lexa, as Stefan and Klaus seemed to talk amongst themselves. "So let me get this straight... I am here... so you can get her back?" Lexa asked, referring to Rebekah. Isaiah shrugged, before he finally nodded, "Rebekah is my twin sister. Whilst I love Klaus, I'd do anything for Rebekah... even if that means blackmailing Klaus the mad." Isaiah assured her.

Lexa nodded, "I um... I understand." She confessed. "I had a twin, as you know." She began, obviously speaking as though Elena was dead, because the Mikealsons thought she was dead. "She meant everything to me too... so I understand why you went to these lengths to get your sister back." Isaiah nodded, before feeling a sting of guilt. "I'm sorry for your loss." He said, genuinely. The Mikealson didn't know how he'd could cope if Rebekah was permanently gone.

But Elena wasn't gone... to protect her, Lexa lost her own humanity. She didn't regret her choice, but she understood... she understood why Isaiah would go to great lengths to protect his twin because she would do the same.

Stefan approached the duo. "Cmon. We're going back to the bar. Rebekah will meet us there." He told them.

Lexa stood in the parking lot, leaving Gloria, Stefan and the two Originals inside. Her mind was exploding by Klaus' story about Stefan, Rebekah and Isaiah... She couldn't help but to wonder how Stefan was feeling.

"Lexa!"

Lexa spun around, her eyes widening when she noticed Elena was standing in the parking lot, staring right at her. Behind her, stood Giorgia.

The heretic found her feet were moving for herself, as she rushed forward and threw her arms around her twin. "Elena— What the fuck are you doing here?!" Lexa asked, once she pulled away, though Elena kept Lexa in an embrace.

Elena tried not to laugh, remembering her sister's attitude, "I've missed you so much— You just suddenly disappeared! Where's Stefan?"

"It's a long story. Stefan is inside the bar, but so is Klaus so you can't go inside." She demanded. "When are you both coming home?" Elena asked, sounding pleading. "I don't know... Stefan he...." The heretic trailed off before she sighed. "Stefan doesn't want to come home."

"What?!"

Alexia and Elena broke apart, as Lexa's face fell. "Look Lena, I don't know what to do and... Klaus is obsessed with siring these hybrids. The second he knows you're alive, he'll figure out why it's not working. You can't be here." Elena sighed, before she nodded, "I can't give up on you.... Either of you." She insisted.

Lexa nodded, giving the Gilbert a teary smile, "I know. And I'm counting on it." She giggled. "I don't know what's going to happen to us... but knowing that there's people I love like you guys, Jeremy and Caroline, who won't give up on us... gives me the strength to go on."

Elena reluctantly let go of her twin, as Giorgia took this moment to hug her. "Come home. We can find a way around this. I'm sure of it." The Garcia explained, full of optimism. Lexa sadly smiled at Giorgia, as she really didn't know what she was getting herself into.

Before Giorgia could say anything else, Elena stepped forward and hugged her twin again. Lexa hugged back, feeling relieved that she'd fed earlier, because otherwise she would have struggled with close contact with Elena and Giorgia.

"I love you." Elena said softly. Alexia pulled away, before she smiled lovingly. "I love you too. Now go home, idiot."

When Lexa reentered the bar, she found Rebekah shoving a dagger into Klaus' chest. She smirked amusedly, but then watched as he took it out with ease.

"Oh come on Bek. You knew it wouldn't kill him." Isaiah piped up, before Rebekah turned to face him. "Yeah, but I was hoping it would hurt more." She insisted, before she rushed forward and hugged Isaiah. The boy hugged back, relieved that she was finally alive.

"I understand that you're upset with me, Rebekah... So I'm going to let that go. Just this once. Brought you a little peace offering. You can come in." Klaus spoke up, as Rebekah and Isaiah broke apart, and the blonde turned around to see Stefan.

"Stefan..." She blurted, happy to see him... but it wasn't the same. Her short lived relationship with Stefan wasn't the same as her long, secretive and very loving relationship with Natasha... but she was still happy to see him.

Klaus stepped forward, and compelled Stefan, to remember everything he'd been forced to forget in the 20s. "Rebekah..." Stefan confessed, before he approached the blonde. "I remember you. We were friends." Klaus corrected him, "We are friends."

"And now the reason you're here. Gloria tells me you know how to contact the original witch." Klaus insisted, looking to his sister. "The original witch?" Rebekah asked. Isaiah nodded, "What do you have that Gloria needs, Bek?" He asked.

Rebekah reached up to touch her neck but realised her necklace is missing. "Where's my necklace? What did you do with it? I never take it off!" She suddenly snapped.

Stefan's eyes widened, realising that Elena had the necklace. Alexia noticed this look and instantly realised it too. "Fuck.." She thought.

Klaus growled, "Tell me that's not what she needs, Rebekah!"

Caroline, Sienna and Natasha were all sprawled out around Caroline's bedroom, wine drunk and giggly. Carmen entered the room, with a jug of water for the trio, though they refused it was as they wanted to only drink more wine.

"Bitch! I missed you so much!" Caroline confessed to Sienna, before she loosely threw an arm around the werewolf-guardian. "I missed you too Care! So fucking much." The Lockwood chirped back in response.

Carmen sat beside the trio, as Natasha giggled, before taking a long sip from the bottle of red wine. "Damon, Giorgia and Elena went to Chicago today." She piped up. "Elena saw Lexa."

Caroline and Sienna both turned to Natasha, before looking to Carmen for confirmation. "It's true, Gi saw her too." The Anderson spoke. "How is she? Is she okay?" Caroline demanded.

Sure, Lexa and Caroline had talked a little since her disappearance... but the Forbes couldn't help but to worry— she was stuck with Klaus freaking Mikealson!

"She seemed sad... She misses you... she misses all of you." Natasha admitted, using the information that Damon had passed on. Caroline nodded, feeling sadness fill her now. "I miss her too... I miss her so much." She admitted, her eyes filling with tears.

Sienna's face fell, realising now that the alcohol was making them all extra emotional, though it was undeniable that they all missed Lexa so much. Carmen noticed it too, and slowly took the alcohol from them while they weren't paying attention, instead giving them each a glass of water.

"Hey... hey cmon girls." Sienna began, throwing her arms around Natasha and Caroline. "Lexa is a tough, magical goddess. She'll be back and unharmed.. I know it!" She declared, optimistically.

Caroline nodded, before she wiped a tear from underneath her eye. "Yeah... yeah, you're right." She replied softly.
