075. look after you
"Due to the recent tragedies that have plagued our town, we will be holding a memorial in Town Square today to honor all those we have lost. Join us and hope that as a community we can begin to heal." Carol Lockwood's voice rambled on, from the TV screen.
Lexa sighed, sinking into the couch more. She stayed wrapped in a blanket, as a few empty coffee mugs sat on the floor, near her. When Jenna suggested that it was time Lexa tried to leave her room, this wasn't exactly what she had in mind.
Suddenly, the TV switched off, and the Gilbert looked up to see John, holding the remote. "Time to get up. No more moping around." He said, as Lexa frowned. "What are you doing here?" She asked, before she sat upright, though she kept herself wrapped cosily in the blanket.
"I'm here to protect you. That's all I can say for the moment." John insisted before he asked, "Coffee?" Lexa just shook her head, "No thank you. I already had six." She replied. John looked surprised before he counted all of the empty mugs on the floor. He sighed, before he bent down to collect them.
"You know kiddo... first loves aren't everything... there's plenty of fish in the sea." John began, before Lexa deadpanned him, "Nope. We're not doing this." She declared. John didn't say anything else and left, into the kitchen with the empty mugs.
Jenna and Alaric, who had spent the night, entered the kitchen. "Oh God, I'm late." Jenna blurted before Alaric chuckled, "That's what you get for hitting the snooze three times!"
Now noticing John, the pair looked surprised. "What the hell?" Jenna blurted. "Good morning to you, Jenna. Alaric..." John smiled fakely, as the duo still looked confused. "It's okay I'm confused, right? Because we were not expecting you, like, ever." The Sommers said. "Well, I got in late last night. Elena let me in." John replied.
"You know, I'm uh, probably just gonna take off." Alaric declared, before he walked away from the kitchen, and entered the living room. He stopped when he found Lexa, sitting on the couch, on her phone. The Saltzman walked over to her, and could see how upset she looked. "Lexa." He said softly, hoping to catch her attention.
The siphoner looked up, surprised to see Alaric in her living room. "Will I be seeing you in class today?" He asked, still keeping a gentle tone of voice. The truth was, Alexia's attendance had been a bit shady since her breakup with Sienna.
She couldn't explain why, the pair were still good friends, and Sienna's reasons for ending their relationship were perfectly valid... but it still hurt so much. Lexa shrugged, "Maybe... Hopefully." She said. Alaric slightly smiled, before he turned to leave the house.
Lexa reached for the remote, and when to turn the television on, but stopped for a moment when she heard her twins voice. "I'm sorry, Jenna. I should have told you earlier, but—"
"I'm Elena and Alexia's biological father. There, now you know." John suddenly said, before it sounded like he walked away from the pair, leaving Elena to deal with a confused Jenna. "What?!" Jenna blurted.
Lexa just groaned, and laid back down, covering herself with the blanket. She didn't want to deal with any drama.

Matt put the car in park, as himself and Sienna were now at the medical centre, where Sienna would have her first therapy session.
"Thanks for driving me here.. you didn't have to do this." Sienna chuckled, before she faced Matt. "Of course, you're my best friend Cece. I want to help you through all of this, as much as I can." He smiled. Sienna smiled back, but a question seemed to tug at her.
Matt approached Sienna, whilst Tyler played. "Hey Matty." Sienna chirped, before the blonde smiled, "Hey, I feel like I haven't seen you in ages." He confessed. "Yeah.. I guess I've been mostly with Tyler and.."
"Lexa." Matt said, though something seemed different.. it almost seemed like there was a pang of jealousy in his voice.. which wasn't something she'd ever noticed. "Mhm.. with Lexa." Sienna answered.
"Matt?" The Lockwood asked. "Yeah?" Matt answered. "Were you ever... jealous of my relationship with Lexa?" Sienna asked, with a tone of amusement. Matt blinked in surprise, a light pink tinting his cheeks, "No?" He answered, unsure.
Sienna just eyed him, unconvinced. Matt bit his lip before he sighed, "Maybe. For a little bit. I guess when Caroline and I broke up... I felt so single I kind of was desperate for any sort of romantic attention. Even from my best friend, who things have always been strictly platonic with." Matt confessed, embarrassedly.
Sienna tried to hold back a laugh, "Okay. Well, thank you for being honest... but... nothing is going to ever happen between us, okay?" She asked. Matt chuckled, "No, of course not. I don't know what I was thinking." He confessed, as the two laughed.
"I should be inside for about an hour. Again, don't feel pressured to pick me up, I can always wa—"
"I'll be here, in one hour." Matt smiled, which caused Sienna to smile. "Thanks. I love you." The werewolf chirped before she exited the vehicle and closed the door. Matt just chuckled, "Love you too.."

Damon and Natasha sat on the edge of Stefan's bed, as the Salvatore was getting ready for school. "You brought back John Gilbert? That was your big Save Elena move?" Damon asked, still trying to wrap his head around this.
"I went to go look for Isobel, and I get John instead. He said he can help us, and we're desperate." Stefan insisted, causing Natasha to laugh, "We're not that desperate, Stefan. Didn't he try to barbecue Damon?" She asked. Damon nodded, not forgetting about it.
"Damon, Bonnie's new witch friend is working with Elijah, so we have to assume that the moonstone was never destroyed. Lexa is going through a lot right now, I don't even want to burden her with all of that..." Stefan trailed off.
"Hm.. am I a joke to you?" Natasha asked, her voice sounding poisonous yet sweet. Stefan shook his head, "I don't want to burden you either, not after what has just happened. You need some time." He declared. Natasha shrugged, "Whatever." She said, in a chipper tone, as if she was trying to act fine.
".. Elena is putting all of her faith into some deal that she made with Elijah to keep everyone safe." Stefan continued to explain. "I mean, do you trust Elijah? I don't trust him. He's an Original, he can't be trusted. It's not like we can just go up and kill him, because apparently, he can't die!"
"I'm still waiting for the part where John Gilbert is the answer." Damon insisted. Stefan sighed, "He knew about the sacrifice, Isobel told him. He said he knew of a way to keep Elena safe." He explained. "And how do we do that?" Damon asked. "He's not talking. At least not to me anyway."
"Great work Stefan. Top notch." Natasha chirped, getting off of the bed and leaving the room. Stefan looked at Damon, sympathetically. He felt bad for the Petrova. Damon got to his feet and exited the room, following after his best friend.
Stefan watched the devious duo leave, before he had an idea. He reached out to grab his phone, before he pulled up his sister's contact information.

As Elena was off squabbling with Damon, Lexa stood in between Caroline and Bonnie, as they were in the memorial crowd.
"Lexa, do you wanna come to the Grill after?" Caroline asked, hoping to keep her occupied and out of the Gilbert house, for at least a bit. The siphoner, who was zoned out, made eye contact with Sienna. The Lockwood gave her a smile.
"Lexa?" Caroline asked. Lexa quickly spun around, "Yeah. Of course, I'll be back in a minute, hold on." She said, before she walked away, approaching Sienna. Caroline and Bonnie watched, hoping their interaction wouldn't be too awkward.
"Hey doll." Sienna smiled, as Lexa stopped now, standing in front of her. The Gilbert froze for a moment, unsure of what to do. On instinct, she'd want to embrace the Lockwood, or kiss her.. or even just reach out for her hand. In this moment, she didn't know what to do.
"Hey, Cece." Lexa finally answered back, keeping her hands by her side, though Sienna couldn't help but notice them slightly twitch. "How was your appointment?" Alexia asked. "It was good.. I have a mental health plan in place, which makes me feel a bit less overwhelmed. And I have therapy sessions twice a week."
The Lockwood bit her lip, before her eyes met the witch's. "It's not for certain... but the therapist thinks I may have PTSD and depression." She confessed quietly, as her eyes filled with tears now. "I'm going to get tests done, and if so lead on to get medication but.." Sienna trailed off, struggling to choose her words for a moment.
"I just can't believe how badly I've treated myself.. keeping all of this trauma repressed... it's so unhealthy. And now I'm really suffering for it." She rambled on. Lexa reached out, caressing Sienna's cheek. The Lockwood who had tear filled eyes, looked into Lexa's brown eyes. "But now you're doing the right thing. You're getting help and things are going to get better." She spoke softly.
Sienna lifted her hand, to gently hold it around Lexa's hand, as she gave her ex girlfriend a sad smile. "I promise you, that things can only get better from here." The Gilbert said, before she dropped her hand from Sienna's face. The werewolf then stepped forward, embracing Alexia. The witch hugged back.
"I'm proud of you, y'know?" Lexa said softly. "Thank you.. for being here for me." Sienna said quietly. The witch just smiled back sadly, "Of course."

Lexa slumped into the booth, a beer in hand before she faced Bonnie. "Where is Caroline? She's supposed to be here already." The Gilbert complained.
Bonnie kept her look on Lexa, "I saw you talking to Sienna.." She began. "You are a really good friend to her.. you're being so supportive." She added. "But I can't help but wonder if.... if you need to see a therapist." Bonnie concluded. "Me?" Lexa blurted, as Bonnie nodded. "But I'm fine." She declared. The Bennett shrugged, "Your school attendance says otherwise."
Lexa frowned, not really wanting to consider it, but Bonnie wasn't going to let it go. "You have had so much going on, you became an addict, moved away from home and family for a while and during that time, your parents died and your relationship with Vicki ended." Bonnie began.
"Then when you moved back, were hated by so many people that didn't understand your circumstances, and then you nearly died from an overdose. Not to mention then, your ex girlfriend died... and despite everything, you managed to fall in love again, for it... not to work out."
Lexa's shoulders sunk, realising that it was true. She had gone through a lot, but she hadn't actually stopped to think about it... after all, she had to take care of Elena and Jeremy. She always put them first.
As if Bonnie could read Lexa's mind, she said, "You have spent your whole life taking care of others and putting them first. Put yourself first, and let us take care of you, for a change." The witch said, as she gently took Lexa's hands in her own. The Gilbert smiled sadly, looking down at their joined hands before she looked back up at her best friend. "Okay." She decided.
Bonnie let go of Lexa's hands, and stood up. "I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be back." She said, as the siphoner nodded. Now alone, Lexa's thoughts drifted away, as she was thinking about Caroline again... where the hell was she?
Alexia's phone buzzed, causing her to jump in surprise. She read a text message on her phone that said, "URGENT!! Caroline is in trouble. Call me."
